I love this show. There are so many episodes with great information and details about the ups and downs of entrepreneurship that don’t get discussed elsewhere. However, THIS particular episode with Mark Rober left me a little unsatisfied. My daughter found Mark Robers videos during COVID. It was a time where school was so tough being at home and virtual but as parents we tried to manage any additional screen time so it wasn’t filled with junk. I can not explain enough how helpful his videos were in explaining science and engineering in a fun way. She loved those videos and so did we. It was educational, interesting and really went a long way in showing her that science and engineering could be engaging long term. As a long time listener of the show. I could tell the approach to this interview felt different. There were several times were it felt like Guy didn’t know much about Mark Rober or just read from a high level background script, wasn’t interested or didn’t connect with the content. Like Guy doesn’t respect what Mark does for a living. Not saying this is true or reflective about how Guy feels. I’m saying the interview came off that way. I totally get not giving much credience to general YouTubers or influencers or how if you have no background on him, general descriptions make his videos sound like “Frat boy or jackass antics” BUT Mark Rober and his content are much different. He is an engineer but much more like a relatable scientist that educates kids in an era that has captured their brains with TikToc dances and irrelevant events. He deserved a more engaging and respectful interview. There were so many opportunities to ask more engaging questions or talk about how his content is giving kids an opportunity to see how STEM activities can still be enjoyed as an adult. I just expected more and was a little let down here.

This podcast has had a large impact on how I think about the world. Now when I interact with a product or business I wonder about the origin story, the human inspiration that drove it, the failures and challenges that were eventually overcome. It has certainly sparked in me an interest in entrepreneurship. I would highly recommend to anyone!

Guy Raz is incredible, and I learn so much! But Guy also has an agenda with diet and nutrition topics — I wish he would stay away from promoting controversial diet-culture companies

I discovered HIBT four years ago and have been captivated by the episodes. I would go for a walk after work and listen to one a day. I started by searching for the episodes about companies I love and use…then I just listened to them all!! I am now that person that shares random trivia facts about companies when I’m with others. I recommend companies to others when I hear a story that I respect. I patron companies that I might not have noticed. Honestly, I’ve learned so much about entrepreneurship and find it so interesting, that it is a field I would have considered many years ago had I known what it was. Thank you to all who have worked to put together this wonderful podcast!

Fascinating interviews with people who have untaken projects that I would have thought I’d have no interest in…boy was I wrong!

A great show that has stood the test of time. I consider Guy Raz a master at what he does. His talent is subtle but real.

Has Guy and team lost the ability to edit a story down to the essential parts. It seems to me the goal is stretch every story to about 1.5 hours. Way too many nonessential details. The old format where the episodes were around 45 mins to an hour was so much better. It now takes them 45 mins to cover the background leading up to the main story. Many of my friends have the same feedback. It is a shame that they ruined a great podcast.

The interviews seem to be over produced, if that’s what you call it. Why would you have music playing while your guests are talking about the details on why you are interviewing them ????? !!!!!!! So annoying. Makes me move on to another podcast.

I started two companies proximately 22 years ago, and they could not have been more different. Both were very successful, but I certainly had my ups and downs. I am totally inspired by the stories, I have my laugh out loud moments because yeah… I’ve been there… Done that.. 🤣 . I’ve learned so much from this podcast.

I really enjoy listening. It’s always fascinating to listen to the various guests tell their stories from their perspectives.

They give too much backstory I could watch for 30 minutes without seeing the title and not know what the business is

Guy has kept me company for many a road trip with HIBT - the variety of companies and backstories have forced me more than once to stay in my car till a story is finished. Great podcast!

I’m always so niched down that I love listening to all the various business owners on this podcast share their journeys. I always leave more open to opportunities and comforted knowing there are other business owners in the world just like me.

Excellent variety of guests. Guy can fine-tune his interviewing by not suggesting answers.

I love listening to these in the car on a long drive or just chilling outside on the porch!! Love guy and how he asked questions that keep the people getting interviewed talking about there company or business or whatever he’s talking to them about! 💕😁

Never lets me down! Even the episodes that cover businesses or individuals that do not originally interest me almost never fail to pull me in. Guy, I understand the self-doubt, but I do hope you realize on a more objective level that you are nailing it! :)

I enjoy this app while driving or mowing. Guy does an excellent job asking the questions that I would ask!

I typically like HIBT episodes. I like Guy’s questions typically. I wish he didn’t focus so much on Mr. Burch’s opinion of Tory’s goals and aspirations during this episode.

I really enjoy this podcast. Guy Raz is well prepared and asks enough tough questions to make it interesting. And, you really get a feel for the difficulties that people face when starting a business. The Thomas Keller episode was really good!

I find the topics interesting, but I find some of the interjections sound inserted during editing. Some “ums”, “hums” and “yups” just sound like they were inserted into a string of dialog from the guest after the fact. Not sure if this was actually the case, but sounds assembled to me.

Really interesting to go back and listen to the Affirm episode in the era of high interest rates. It gives you a great sense of how blind FinTech entrepreneurs are to the “Fin” side of their profession. Levchin, who sounds like an amazing guy in general, claims that Affirm’s profitability trajectory is essentially guaranteed by the unit economics of the company’s business model. He calls it a fun math problem. Obviously he knows very little about cost of funding. The roughly 20% of his workforce that was recently laid off probably wishes he had taken at least one finance class to balance his programming genius.

I used to Love this podcast… listen every day on my walks. But now I’m finding it almost unbearable. Guys questions go on and on and on… interrupting the guest constantly and he stumbles over his questions with “like” ..my goodness ! The show used to be a bit crisper, but now this is so hard to listen to!! I find myself screaming “STOP TALKING -let your guest finish a thought!!!!” and “Get your questions printed out so he can read them!” Please watch YouTube channel Diary of a CEO.. the host is an industrial strength listener. Questions are well thought out and no stumbling along. It’s not endearing…it’s juvenile.

Want to like this podcast but the host saying yah constantly has is so grating, I can’t make it past episode one. Would be much better without the host interview style.

Love this concept. Love the stories. Love the host! Unfortunately the show has an insanely long intro which is incredibly frustrating for someone like me who tries to listen on the way to work-30 minute drive. 15 minutes of it are commercial and lead up blah blah. So I have to go back and listen when I have a full hour to do so!

Guy does a deep dive into each Pod and is a master interviewer. I look forward to all of shows. I learn so much. Thank you Guy & Pod Crew!

Is it possible for Guy Raz to have a guest on his show and not interrupt them? Similarly is it possible for him to have a non American and not re-say everything they say as if they don’t speak English? His guests are amazing but the etiquette is awful. I could scream.
