Found Jamila and the Journey to Launch podcast at the end of 2023 and have been consuming so much of her content. I feel so inspired by the stories that Jamila shares. As someone with a history of being bad at finances and often impulse spending to get a dopamine hit for my ADHD, Jamila’s focus on changing your mindset around money has had a huge impact on how I view my own journey. I appreciate so much of what she does and just wish I had found her sooner!

Excited to begin my journey

Since you were hesitant to work with the DailyMail, I wanted you to know I bought the book part way through reading your article. To assuage my own embarrassment at reading DailyMail, my excuse is that I got hooked on the celebrity section as a teen. Anyway, this piece came at the exact moment I needed it as I was just starting to look at my financial situation to figure out where I could be saving money. I also started listening to the podcast which is amazing in itself. You have an authentic personality that isn’t preachy or fake. It gives me optimism that this isn’t an impossible journey. Jamila - your podcast is BY FAR one of my favorite podcasts. I’ve been listening now for a couple years and it has really helped me, but the most recent episode with Rich Jones stands out. As a black man that works in corporate America who has a past that includes different family traumas, I felt seen listening to Rich talk about his journey and how he navigated it. The connection between mental health and how an individual navigates finances is not obvious, so I appreciate the time it took to produce this podcast and am so thankful for the vulnerability of the guest. The other two are (Motley Fool Rule Breaker Investing podcast with David Gardner) and (Rich Dad Radio podcast with Robert Kiyosaki) these are complimentary and Jamila the host of Journey to launch Podcast hits hard in the areas of insightfulness, useful advice for workers, investors, entrepreneurs, humans, Also Journey and Jamila have had a knack for getting good guests and immediately asking the guests good relevant questions. Jamila, I want to start by saying thank you. I've been listening to your podcast since the beginning and it has been inspiring and motivational to witness your growth. It has also helped me so much on my financial journey and pushed me to take chances and make big strides toward becoming financially independent. Today's episode with Myra and Abby hit home for me as I'm in the early stages of dating/looking for a life partner. I’m learning the need to be honest and open about how important financial stability is to me without driving the person away or expecting them to approach money exactly the way I do. It’s such an interesting dance and this episode gave me a new perspective.

Diverse perspectives on financial independence

I love that each episode showcases a different version of financial literacy and financial independence. Every conversation is interesting and engaging, and Jamila does a wonderful job curating guests with diverse backgrounds, approaches, and opinions. This show is one of the most educational shows I’ve listened to in the realm of personal finance. There are so many shows that tell you how to save, invest, 401k, and that’s it. Jamila teaches about important things like generational wealth, work life balance, family finance, and so much more with her guests that I wouldn’t have known about if not for this show.

Came across the interview with Sam @ Financial Samurai - loved it thanks! Great dialogue. I’ve followed Sam for a long time and have always appreciated how he keeps it real with everything finance and also has a great sense of humor. I find this podcast to be a nice mix of practical advice, hearing from experts, and elevating the voices of women and people of color in a space where they are under-represented. Jamila is also a refreshing voice in the FIRE/personal finance space, because she doesn’t preach crazy frugality or all of the same old, same old. She lives notoriously expensive New York City, and not in the middle of nowhere, so I find her a more realistic and relatable voice. She is down-to-earth and translates information well. Great addition to the finance podcast universe!

Picking Up My Stars Again

I really wish this podcast was around when I was in high school. I been feeling like a lot of the people at my school failed up- the system failed up and I feel like I’m now having to pick up the pieces of dreams they shattered. I used to think I’ll be nothing but a housewife so I married young and now I’m divorced and trying to figure out everything money for me and the kids. This podcast is nothing but inspiration and keeps me pushing whenever I feel down. I’m so happy everyone who in a sense has made it- is able to pick themselves up and tell their story. 276 Networking It’s my first time listening to this podcast and OMG I just want to say Thank you!!!!! I currently do a lot of networking it was a challenge at first getting out of my comfort zone.Special after COVID we all basically became introverts. Listen to this particularly episode is exactly what I need to hear. I recently found my purpose. And well sometimes it gets difficult because I feel like my 9-5 interferes with it. I am an accountant for a small industrial company & I love fashion.
