Is Justin Chang going to be another reviewer who hypes films like Mad Max? Can we never get beyond these Marvel films? Same thing over and over and over. What do they really feed in our culture?

The Adam Gopnik episode on March 22 told me absolutely nothing that I did not already know. I found it utterly boring and I was shocked to think this was somehow New Yorker worthy. Nothing intellectually stimulating here at all. There are so many more important issues to cover and to see this sludge get in the way makes me lose faith in this publication. We are literally watching tech companies take over nearly every facet of life in this country as they contribute to an incredible wealth gap fueled by anonymous greed, lobbyist corruption, and political opportunism. In 10 seconds I can come up with more valuable and intriguing story ideas than this.

excellent podcast about trump/authoritarianism. the problem is this authoritarian minority is ruling like it is the majority and getting away with it in the courts and the help of no spine merrick garland. our gov needs to dump the electoral college because it doesn’t allow the majority to rule and that is the way the senate is setup too. kill the filibuster & the electoral college and that would be a good start. plus i do blame the media companies for not hitting trump back hard in 2016 when he was being the filthy pig he is to hillary clinton and i say that as a bernie supporter. mainstream media needs to stop being so dainty about trump and his flying monkeys!

If you want woke propaganda then this is the podcast for you! The fawning interview with Judith Butler in which she is never challenged or asked about the many inconsistencies in her book (which has been poorly reviewed generally) is a perfect example. WNYC and The New Yorker have fallen to woke ideologies - really a shame.

The best magazine. Sometimes a great podcast. Really don’t need the Biden propaganda though, or to be told how things the most important election. Perhaps try spinning the fact that it’s the least consequential election of our time, with the two worst candidates we’ve ever had.

I loved the recent episode with Brontez Purnell—feature more artists like Brontez!! I was excited to hear Jeffrey Masters voice because I loved his interviews on LGBTQ&A. I don't like every episode—like I was disappointed about how Clare Malone's conversation gave credence to right-wing "memes." But I'll stick around for conversations with artists like Brontez, Michelle Zauner, Jacqueline Novak, and others.

Really learned a lot from Johnathan Blitzner & his ideas for the border, I think there are additional things to weigh in & that is the human trafficking that’s taking place, bc if you looked at those coming across the border, one would find the thousands of $ dollars getting paid to coyotes & all that information is on their cellphones & WhatsApp, additionally, there’s no way the number of unaccompanied children would make it as far as they claim on their own Thank you for the show, always informative & challenging

Every episode I listened to in which David Remnick covered Gaza made me physically sick. I am flabbergasted by its one sidedness. Anybody who talks about October 7th without giving any context : blockade in Gaza, constant bombardment (mowing the lawn strategy including during operation cast lead, protective edge…), putting Gaza on a diet or the occupation/ apartheid in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, the constant land grabs and settler violence, the kidnapping of children under administrative detention (amnesty and save the children reported on this regularly), the torture and the sexual abuses in those prisons including on minors, the bulldozing of homes, the burning of olive trees, the arbitrary killing etc etc shows that their empathy only extend to one group which can only be qualified as RACISM. If we condemn violence we condemn it universally. October 7th was brutal but Palestinians had 76 years of October 7th and this has been completely erased in all his conversation. There is also genuine misrepresentation of the so called peace attempts like Oslo and Camp David trying to paint Palestinians as uncompromising. It’s a bad faith erroneous argument. Rabin himself said he was offering less than a state. The terms put on the table were simply unacceptable and even stipulated Palestinian won’t be able to control their own water. Edward said called it a “Palestinian Versailles”. I am not even delving in all the details of 48 and the ethnic cleansing of Palestinian after a series of massacres like Tantura and Deir Yassir. The fact that people talk the foundation of the state without talking about how it came to be blows my mind. Israeli historians like Bennie Morris documented all of this and it’s not hard to find books and documentaries so there is zero excuse in omitting this context! I used to trust the show because I thought it had intellectual integrity and now that I am seeing all the cracks, I no longer do.

This episode was fabulous and motivated me to renew my subscription to the New Yorker for me and also for our son in college…

Was absolutely brilliant and when you mentioned EJ Corvettes, I hit the floor. I did most of my growing up in Englewood New Jersey so this brilliant episode brought me right back. All your work is exceptional. Thank you so much for putting it out there. this is a brilliant podcast every episode. Again thanks so much.

Terrible biased “reporting.”

Here’s my question: why is it called a Radio hour when it is barely ever/never an hour. Today I was listening to a fascinating talk about the future and fragility of democracy. I was hanging on every word. Suddenly, after about 20 minutes and two commercials, it was over! Come on! Live up to the title of the program.

This is an important program. I hope it’s not going to be affected by all the current cuts.

David Remnick is a brilliant fair minded interviewer and this program is a wealth of inside and information. One of our favorites. Thank you.

I’ve been enjoying this podcast but recently did further research into the publication and read questionable press coverage surrounding Clare Malone and The New Yorkers journalistic integrity. Rating low since it’s painful to read how this publication interferes with poc narratives that amplify our issues and pave way for representation. Host David remnick is great but it feels morally wrong to support the New Yorker now

But Roz Chast, whilst she is a wonderful cartoonist does not have a great voice. Please find someone else to do the announcements . It’s like nails down a blackboard

First, let me tell you I marched against antisemitism in Paris last week and I will do it again. Second, I am outraged to the point of canceling my New Yorker subscription for this irresponsible tone-deaf interview on antisemitism. While the whole world watches Palestinian women and children maimed, starved and without communication or health care to treat dying maimed babies and children, you publish this crap. SHAME on you!! I am so disappointed with the New Yorker.

When Jad and Robert first started the show, it was incredibly refreshing, provably the best show on radio. Complicated ideas were presented in accessible bites. Even though Jad probably came up with most of the good ideas from day one, Robert provided a common sense counterbalance. It told a lot of important stories that people needed to hear. But then the show, especially since the new hosts took over, just got really self-conscious, and have become more like psychotherapy sessions. I’m all for psychotherapy but there are excellent podcasts for just that purpose. Not saying the new shows are all bad… can we just stick to telling good stories about science or social issues and less about the hosts. Still a great show but the older shows were better.

I was appalled by the way you treated this guest. Not only did you dis him in your intro, but you also ADDED comments after the recording when he was not present to defend himself. It looks to me as if RFK Jr. is genuinely looking for a way to bridge the division in our beautiful country. Your attitude towards him only increases the division. I have listened to a number of others interviewing RFK, and in all of them he was treated with respect. I have enjoyed listening to your interviews in the past. I am sure you believe you were doing the right thing here. I ask you to reconsider. Could Parul host her own regular books show? She has a beautiful voice to deliver her always insightful questions and comments. So refreshing to hear her again, and all the more so in the parched barrenness after the NYT Book Review podcast went belly up.

You know what, im just gonna wait till the world falls apart, and people keep charging there “eco friendly batteries “on coal and propane fired electricity. Pay no attention to the desolate wastelands , mining precious minerals causes. Giant bunch of hypocrisy it is.

Why oh why oh why did you feel the need to censor James McBride. Do you think adults cannot handle the harsh realities of the world? We read the New Yorker for crying out loud!

Thought provoking, nuanced and more often than not exceptional.

The passion shown by David and all the staff on this show elevates the quality of each interview to the highest standards (I.e. listen to the recent RFK Jr or Regina Spector segments). I’m thankful our local NPR station chooses to carry/support this program. Indeed, one of the best adds to the program lineup.

No Labels is pretty good at the victim rhetoric but they should just choose Trump because that will be the effect anyway.

I’m a long time David Remnick reader and have always found his work to be succinct and thoughtful; years ago I shared an elevator with the man and to this day it’s one of my fav “celebrity sighting” moments, tho no, I didn’t talk to him. His is a voice of a generation.

David, I am a fan, but your interview with RFK jr was hostile, spilling with disdain, and reeked of your bias and partisan politics that Kennedy is speaking out against. And frankly many of us on the left are tired of this What you did with editorializing and sometimes misrepresenting what Kennedy said (“he deflected” etc) was at time intellectually dishonest and the reason why many liberal and left leaning thinking individuals no longer rely on main stream media for news and opinions. I hope you can reflect on this in an unbiased way and when you write the piece, you will do a better job of presenting the conversation more accurately.

Kudos to David Remnick on how to interview a dangerous person and expose just how unhinged, insane and again dangerous someone like R. Kennedy really is. Memo to CNN and the ex-CEO, this is how you conduct an interview. (What were you thinking??) David, please start having more of these type of interviews: C. Owens, S. Bannon, Trump, Desantis, etc

David Remnick is a very intelligent and prepared interviewer. He asks difficult questions and persists with follow up questions until he gets an answer, or shows the subject is avoiding answering.

David’s interview was excellent. It’s tragic though that the person interviewed had no ability to clearly articulate any rational answers to any of questions, or speak rationally about anything else for that matter.

Imagine if David Remnick gave as much scrutiny to Joe Biden and the DNC establishment as he does to RFK Jr. and other outsiders. Maybe then we’d actually have some hard hitting journalism! Unfortunately the New Yorker puts out pathetic bad faith hit jobs that only serve as confirmation bias for liberals and propaganda for the corporatist Democratic Party. The lady doth protest too much, methinks

David Remnick's interview of RFK Jr was incredibly unprofessional and his points were absolute garbage. I guess no one should run against Biden just because people on the right will welcome it. Absolutely no substance.

I cannot understand why the New Yorker, a publication I admired so much, would platform Rover Kennedy Jr. Just as I no longer watch or pay any attention to CNN after the Trump row hall now I feel obligated to unfollow this podcast and cancel my subscription to the magazine. This is not the other side of an argument. This is not balanced reporting. This is giving a microphone to a person who shouts provable lies and falsehoods that are dangerous. I will miss reading the New Yorker. I also feel this is the power I have to let publishers know how their customers feel.
