After being a SAHM after my education college work, I’m just getting back into teaching in my mid-30s. This is THE podcast I come to when I need a confidence boost for that imposter syndrome, actionable tips that I can implement same-day, and classroom management advice. Thank you Lori for sharing your wisdom!

    Amazing!!!!
I came across this podcast mostly by accident and I am so thankful I did. I am still a college student, third year of elementary education and I find so much value in this podcast. Each and every episode has the best tips and tricks for preparing, managing, staying positive, and so much more. It is such a comfort to have something to turn to for anything you could possibly think of teacher related and there is an experienced answer and guidance. Thank you Dr. Lori for sharing all of your love with us future or current teachers!! 💗

    Absolutely amazing!!!!
As a new teacher entering the classroom, though it’s so familiar because I’m currently a paraprofessional, my anxiety is on a different level because I will be sitting in the “teacher chair”! I found this podcast and it was the most interesting and informative detailed video/ words I have ever seen. I actually feel so much more confident and I am not even in the classroom yet! Thank you so much Dr. Lori for taking the time to help us new beginners and those who are well seasoned in the field because our main goal as educators are to make sure we make a difference in the lives of our students and feeling confident and comfortable while doing it! I feel better lol and I am grateful!

    Great resource!
This is an incredible resource for new teachers! I am doing my alternative certification and don’t have an undergraduate degree in education, so this has been a lifesaver. Hearing teachers talk about this stuff is so much better than reading about it, too!

Amazing and Supportive for New Teachers
My mentor teacher recommended this podcast while I was going through my student teacher observations. Dr. Friesen has provided me with steps to bridge the gap between theory and teaching practice. There are often strategies that you can implement the very next day at school!!! Not to mention that she is so encouraging and provides stories of experience that are connecting and relatable all with her enthusiastic caring manner. Thank you, Dr. Friesen!

    Attention to all teachers
I started listening to her when I was a first year teacher last year and all I can say is a big, “WOW”. She’s been such a big help in all what I need from classroom management stuff, to getting your belongings for your classroom. Give her a listen and you will NOT be disappointed! She’s my inspiration! I appreciate you making this podcast!! I listen to it every time I have a bit of doubt, she comes in and washes that away and helps you! Thank you!

    Amazing!
I was so skeptical to start this just because of the time that I had. As I was doing other work as a teacher, I was listening to this in the. Background and I do not regret it. This has helped me become the best teacher I can be and I recommend it to any teacher but specifically any first year teacher who is nervous about working or getting thru the school year!

    The best tools for teachers!
I’ve been listening to Dr. Lori Friesen’s podcasts to prepare for the upcoming school year, and honestly they have helped me more than anything else! My college classes didn’t go as in depth as I wish they could’ve, but these podcasts go through so many important topics. I didn’t realize how many details and parts of my class I would’ve just been winging without her knowledge! I definitely recommend listening and learning from her, especially if you’re a new teacher! -Laura

    So helpful
This podcast gives me time to chill out, laugh, and not stress about what needs to be done. I can just listen to something that has been stressing me out and realize that others have these same concerns, and then feel some relief and get some fantastic advise. Love Dr Lori!!

Absolutely love that you relate to us on every level!
You always hit on exactly what I am thinking. For example when you speak about always giving the positive comments and affirmation to the kids, and then you mention I know some of you feel like kids don’t care or respond to this. Then you go on to explain further how they do care and it will make a difference and you have to keep doing it. You truely come from a place of experience and I love that about you!! You are amazing!!

    Beyond Grateful
First - I never leave reviews for anything - however, I had to leave a review for this podcast. The Beginning Teacher Talk podcast AND Dr. Friesen’s R.E.A.D.Y Academy has removed so much anxiety and stress I had about starting my first year of teaching. My college successfully prepared me to teach lessons and the provided the know-how to understand and break down the standards. My student teaching experience taught me more about how NOT to run a classroom rather than providing valuable insight from seasoned teachers. I knew what I wanted my classroom to look like, but didn’t know how to get there. I was always searching for podcasts to gain tips and tricks for new teachers, but never really found anything. Fortunately, I eventually stumbled across this podcast and it’s changed everything. I feel Dr. Friesen is literally a beginning teacher lifesaver. I feel so confident that I can succeed because I am following the clear steps outlined in the Academy and I am constantly making notes in a resource binder I created. I don’t want to come across as overly “gushing” in my review but the podcast and the Academy has been is this important to me. I am more prepared than I ever would have been for my first school year. I highly encourage you supplement this podcast with the Academy. You will not regret your decision!

I’m so glad I found this!
I am a second year teacher who has been struggling for both years. I don’t know if I would still be working so hard to continued my career in education if I hadn’t found Dr. Lori. She covers all the things no one teaches but everyone assumes and expects new teachers to know. I’m so glad that someone genuinely cares for new teachers and wants us to succeed.

Even as a 5th year, I have learned new tricks and strategies. I wish I had discovered this show sooner! Lori is positive and fun to listen to each week. Parents are teachers too
As a first time parent, I spend a considerable amount of time thinking about how best to develop her strengths and nurture growth. The ideas and strategies are helpful for all parents to consider not just at home, but when thinking about their child’s school day experience and the experience of their teacher* all great things to keep in mind. Know better do better!

Dr. Lori is preparing me for biggest life change ever!
I can’t say enough about what Dr. Lori Friesen and this podcast has provided me in information, ideas and confidence to prepare for my very first classroom. I am especially thankful because I am making a huge career transition from working in corporate America to begin educating kiddos. I’m absolutely terrified and elated all at the same time, but this podcast has helped me organize classroom management plans, behavior protocols, and helped me visualize and prepare for my life as a teacher. I’m not sure how I would’ve accomplished all this without Dr. Friesen’s ideas and direction for beginning teachers! Thank you for this incredible resource and all the help and information.

    Thank you Dr. Lori 💖🙏🏼
I graduated from my university in 2017 and just got hired for this upcoming school year. With so much time between graduation and getting hired, there were concepts that I needed a refresher on. Dr. Lori has definitely helped me with that and taught me so much more! I listen to an episode every day on my 30 minute walk and I have been feeling confident, prepared and so excited to my first year of teaching! 😀 I will be joining the R.E.A.D.Y for School Academy starting next week to finish my summer strong and enter the school year set up for success 🤩 Thank you Dr. Freisen for all your help, love, and support! 🙏🏼💖

    BEST Podcast for Beginning Teachers
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Frieson and this podcast. I just finished my first year teaching and her tips have been beyond helpful. Just like Lori always says, she provides you with strategies and ideas to think about that nobody tells you in college! Every week, when I listen to a new episode, I feel more confident, relaxed, and capable to do my job. One of my favorite things about Lori and this podcast is that I can tangibly feel her positivity & love. Without having met her, I am sure that she is one of the most caring and loving teachers. I can only imagine what her lucky students must have felt in her class. I just feel happier & lighter every time I hear an episode. Listening to her each week makes me want to be a better teacher! Not to mention, Lori has the BEST podcast voice and is so fun to listen to. You will NOT regret taking time out of your day to listen to this podcast. I cannot recommend this enough!

    This is gold for teachers!!
What an amazing thing to stumble upon! I am an early childhood graduate teaching fellow in pre-school, just about preparing for Kindergarten and First Grade interviews! Obviously being a bit nervous about how to jump into the “real world” of teaching, Dr. Friesan has built up my confidence on such a wide range of things in the classroom! Some things I never even thought of, but totally should have! I seriously have a separate notebook to write her ideas down just for when I listen to this podcast! It is chalk full of realistic tips, tricks, and inspiration all teachers need in their early years of teaching! She is such a joy to listen to and makes my drive to school so enjoyable!! I had so many things I wanted to incorporate into my classroom that I knew were a part of my passion and philosophy and she made them all make sense; on how to incorporate them appropriately, why they work in the classroom, and why students enjoy the little things! Thank you Dr. Friesen for taking the time to set the stepping stones up for us new teachers! This is what my PLN needed! Your time and energy put into this is much appreciated! Each episode makes me excited, motivated, and determined to go into an interview confident and jump into my first classroom because I now know my stuff!! Thank you again!!

    Renewed Hope
I just started student teaching about 3 weeks ago in a small district where I am the one and only student teacher in a 90 mile radius. I started eager with tons of hope and energy but as things started to pick up I became very overwhelmed and self conscious. I was desperate for something to lift my spirits and remind me why I am doing this. I have nobody to relate too so I frantically searched for somebody to help, somebody that understands. I am so lucky to have stumbled upon this podcast. I honestly felt so alone and was unsure that any of my concerns were valid but it only took one episode for me to realize that I am not alone. Each time I listen it feels like she is wrapping her arms around me and speaking wisdom and guidance straight to my heart. I highly recommend for any new teachers that need some renewed hope and outside perspective.

My lifeline as a new teacher!
I cannot recommend this podcast enough... I remember being at my absolute breaking point when I came across it, and after listening to a few episodes I felt rejuvenated, heard, loved and inspired. Every single episode, I feel like Dr. Lori Frissen is speaking to me PERSONALLY lol. It’s almost crazy how there is an episode for every specific little nuance to teaching I need some guidance with. I will often find myself in tears at the mere realization that I am not the only one who has felt a certain way because of this profession, or who has struggled with a certain obstacle as a result. I am so grateful for this podcast, and for the close-knit community of educators I found because of it.❤️

    Source of solace in isolation
This podcast meets teachers in their highs and in their lows. Dr. Lori consistently brings quality strategies and advice that answer questions and solve problems that so often make teachers (especially in our first year) feel overwhelmed. Finding encouragement and help in a community like the one Dr. Lori has created here reminds listeners why we do what we do and that we truly were made for this. I’m a first year teacher doing 2nd grade spanish immersion, with a gym for a classroom, a large class size, and echoes for days! I am isolated to my area of the school and seldom see other teachers. Having this podcast has brought me so much sanity and comfort throughout this crazy year. Thank you Dr. Lori for being the mentor teacher I needed especially throughout the isolation of this year.
