    Simply delightful
I truly enjoyed this podcast! The different voices were wonderful. I laughed and cried nearly every chapter. Occasionally the narrator read a bit quickly, but the speed was just right a vast majority of the time. I am going to check out her Patreon to see what other books they have completed! (Also, I have never read Anne of Green Gables until now at age 41… and I think it’s my favorite book ever!)

    Amazing Work!!
My boyfriend and I are enjoying listening to this together! It’s fun to show him a book I loved so much when I was younger. This is great to listen to in the car or when we’re just hanging out together! I can’t wait to listen to the next one! I hope you keep making them because I don’t think I could listen to another Anne audio book without the same voices! It would be like watching the next season of a show except they changed the actors!😆 The voices are great and the music and sound effects draw you into the story even more—thank you for making this story come alive! Wonderful job! 👏👏👏

    Sooo good!! Thank you!!

    Narrator is way too fast
I really wanted to like this but it’s very hard to get into when the narrator speaks so quickly. My kids couldn’t even understand what she was saying between the speed and the background noises being so loud. I think the narrator would have done a very good job if she was speaking slower.

    Do The Third One! 👏👏
Let me start… I love the book series and I love the funny voices! But my favorite voice was Anne’s voice! But my one complaint is that you talk a bit to fast but I love it so much so still 5 star! Also I love the cover of both podcast. Have not started the second podcast but I can’t wait! listening to this every night is the best. On more thing… you are very pretty in the covers! Hope you stay well and safe! 😉

The reading of the book was well done and very interesting. The voice of Anne was full of wonder. The book as a whole was splendid and I can't wait to listen to Anne of Avonlea.

    Well….
It’s a good podcast, but the narrator talk to fast. Also, after a while it gets very boring. The music and the sounds are weird too. The show is so much better in my opinion.

    Beautiful
This is such a beautiful podcast. I’ve just started watching “Anne with an E” on Netflix and I love it. I can’t wait to listen to more of this book and I hope you add the rest of the books to this beautiful story.

    A Weekly Dose of Joy
Discovering this has been an unexpected joy. I didn’t know I needed Anne’s vivacious spirit in my life until I started listening. Her enduring capacity for wonder and her open heart are a salve for the turbulence of this year. This timeless story is brought to life masterfully by the entire cast and production team. Their performances and the music have brought me to tears on more than one occasion. Well worth listening to!

    Perfection
I’ve always wanted to read “Anne of Green Gables” having loved the movies growing up, but never got down to it. When I heard Mary Kate Wiles was going to do a audio drama of the story, I was beyond excited. I wouldn’t pick anyone else as Anne, she fits the role so well. The whole show is perfection so far. Wiles does a wonderful job bringing the already enchanting story to life. My week is never complete without listening to the week’s new chapter. If you’re wondering if you should give this show a listen, just do it! You won’t regret it. It’s absolutely flawless!

A genuine delight, and perfect introduction
I have never read Anne of Green Gables before, though I have had many friends over the years talk about their love of the book and astonishment that I had never read it. When Anne with an E came out, I watched the first season with my mother, which was my first genuine introduction to Anne’s story, beyond the general gist I had gathered. I have been a Patreon of Mary Kate from the start, and so for quite some time now have known about this podcast audiobook she has been working on, but was not at a tier to listen initially, and then my (finally newly diagnosed) ADHD made it hard to remember to check out the episodes as they were released. But it’s been on my “want to do” list for quite some time. Once she began releasing them on Apple podcasts (and Spotify), it has been much easier for me to pop it on when I’m on a longer car trip, which I have started doing as I drive back and forth the hour + drive to my girlfriend’s place. And what an absolute, genuine delight it has been. I was worried that after years of hearing people talk about AOGG that I wouldn’t like it as much as it was built up to me, and I suspect that if I was not listening to Mary Kate’s rendition I may not love it as genuinely as I do. I find myself time and again laughing out loud and then quickly move to tears sometimes just by my genuine fondness for Anne. Mary Kate’s rendition of her long winded monologues are perfection, and make me think of all the times I would sit talking the ear off of one or both of my parents in the same way. The addition of so many other excellent voice actors, and the background music selection all comes together to create what I genuinely feel to be the most perfect introduction to Anne’s books that I could hope for. I don’t think I would be laughing and crying and laughing again as much if I was reading the book traditionally or listening to another audiobook, though to be fair I can’t compare since this is the only way I’ve read the story. But I’m so glad it is. Anne is so dear to me now, and I can’t wait to experience more of her story as I continue through the series. It feels genuinely the perfect series in the perfect way at the perfect time for me. As someone who is newly diagnosed with ADHD, newly realized queer in a relationship with a social worker who has a heart for foster care and plans to eventually foster together, and both people who are both trained in trauma and have lived through trauma, Anne story hits notes for me that I know they wouldn’t have if I had read it at any other time. I love when you finally get around to reading something you’ve put off for years and realize it’s the perfect time to read it. And I couldn’t be happier that this perfect timing is also coming from the voice and creative mind and dedicated work of my dear friend Mary Kate.

A New Interest in Life (and Anne)!
Revisiting an old favorite is always a joy but this radio play makes it even more so. Hearing some of my favorite actors play some of my favorite characters has been a delight. Mary Kate Wiles’s portrayal of Anne has made me laugh like no other has before and every moment of this telling brings me so much joy. This is the perfect quarantine blues pick me up and makes me smile even when I’m in the depths of despair. Thank you to the whole team of actors and patrons for making this possible! Now to wait for the next chapter...

Production from a kindred spirit ❤️🥕🍷
Is there a need for any other Anne of Green Gables audiobooks anymore? This is exactly the treatment you can usually only dream your favorite books will get — quality acting from a full cast, background music, and sound effects ... The fact that there are a bunch of familiar voices from Lizzie Bennet Diaries and Very Potter Musical makes this the ultimate nerd’s triumph. I’ve been a fan of Mary Kate Wiles since she was Lydia Bennet, and she is as fantastic in this as could be hoped, but I have to say, Whitney Avalon as Marilla is also pitch-perfect.
  • Dcamonkeys
    This is wonderful!
I’ve been a fan of Mary Kate’s since I saw The Lizzie Bennet Diaries on YouTube. I’ve loved Anne of Green Gables since seeing the miniseries with Megan Follows back in the 1980s. This is a delicious blending of both worlds, told in chapter-sized snippets. I struggle between wanting to listen the moment a new episode comes out and wanting to save them up to listen all at once.

    Just lovely
Mary Kate Wiles is the best Anne I’ve ever heard. Please listen. This is wonderful!

    Engrossing from the start
As a person who never quite got into Anne of Green Gables, I started this podcast with moderate suspicion. However, not 2 minutes in, I fell in love. The different voices, sound effects and music add to the story and enhance it, making the listeners feel a part of the world. I would definitively recommend to anyone who enjoyed audiobooks or needs something to listen to.

    Delightful!
Such a sweet, wonderful story clearly brought to life with a lot of love. I adore Mary Kate in everything she does, so she plays Anne's imaginative and wide-eyed nature perfectly. Well done by the whole cast as well - all embody the characters perfectly. A lovely way to spend 20 to 30 minutes whisked away to a different time and place.

    A True Delight
I love the story of Anne of Green Gables and grew up watching the 1980s adaptation. This podcast adaptation is just as delightful and such a fun listen! Great cast, charming sound effects, and sweet music that transports you into the life of Anne Shirley. ❤️

    A Must-Listen!
This is an excellent audiobook performed as a radio play. Listening to Anne’s story is nostalgic, but Mary Kate Wiles brings a bright and fresh perspective to it with excellent narration and a stellar cast. Mary Kate Wiles IS Anne of Green Gables through her voice. She portrays the wide-eyed, imaginative, and spunky Anne with an energy that cannot be matched. Every detail is well thought out and the production value is excellent. It is uplifting and inspiring; even moving when the moment is right. I would highly recommend this for any audience.

You mean this isn’t from audible?
MK does such an amazing job. She brings Anne and Prince Edward Island to life in a new way. With voices familiar to the shipwrecked community, well placed sound effects, and an excellent narration this charming podcast is a delight! Thank you for sharing this beautiful story with us!
  • ClaireButler
Lovely narration, but too many frills.
I’ve listened to the first three chapters and love Mary Kate’s narration and characterization of Anne. I’m not nearly as keen on the voice of Matthew - he is too harsh for such a meek character. The series could be improved by either limiting the volume or frequency of the music and sound effects - too much competition for Mary Kate’s excellent performance. I’d even suggest she read all the characters!
  • elliemarie84
    MK IS Anne!
She brings her warmth and personality to Anne in such a wonderful way. I love this series!
  • Emaleyrb
    Simply the best!
Mary Kate has assembled the perfect cast, and that’s all there is to it! Every episode is such a fun listen and I always find myself a little upset when it’s over because it means waiting another week for a new episode. 15/10—will not disappoint!
