    Necessary listening
I waited for all of the episodes of LC to be released before watching; over the course of a weekend, I binged the entire season. After finishing season 1, with the myriad of questions I had, this podcast was recommended by a family member. After listening to the entire series, I must say that many questions were answered; also, many answers/revelations I did not have questions about were received. I will be rewatching LC with insights and knowledge from this podcast. It will def increase my joy and view of season 1. It was a pleasure listening to this podcast, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants added knowledge; knowledge about life, love and Blackness, not just LC. Thanks.

    Disappointing
I was so glad that a show like Lovecraft Country has a companion podcast, but it’s disappointing when the podcast barely digs into the show. The hosts just say they “love” everything and aren’t really critical or do much analysis of the show. Occasionally there would be some interesting insights, but the hosts spent so much time patting themselves on the back that it was hard to get through.

    Enlightening
I just finished listening to the first episode of this podcast (after watching the first episode of the television series). The hosts are incredibly insightful and knowledgeable. They provide a profound perspective on how the show’s circumstances, plot, and characters reflect the racial tensions and injustices of the past and present. They provide excellent analysis of and insight to how Black people view and experience the world. Not only does the discussion make an already creative television production even more compelling, but it adds educational value by making the subject matter more accessible and meaningful. Excellent! I look forward to more! Thanks.

Pretty Good, but I have one gripe
The host’s seem like shills for the show. Rarely do they delve in subjects, as everything seems very superficial. Also, was not really feeling how they tried to excuse the silenced Native American voices. It’s too bad that Native Americans and their descendants are treated like invisible people and remnants of the past, just like the white man wanted. However, this podcast and show play right into this toxic rhetoric. Was thinking about giving 1 star, but that’s just too harsh because at the end of the day black and brown people need to remain allies. Please keep this in mind moving forward. We still exist.

    Eye Opening
As a white woman who felt fairly woke, my eyes are opened more with each episode of this podcast. I had never put myself into the life of a black woman and these two uber-articulate women allow me to do that. I find all of it so horrifyingly fascinating - or fascinatingly horrifying. The reality of the world is forever different for me now. I watched Lovecraft Country a few weeks before I found out about the podcast and I have started watching it again to see all the different nuances that were put in there that I missed by being a white person. I’m so happy that this podcast exists and that I found it and I wish all white people, but especially women, would listen to it.

I rave about this to everyone
When I first heard about this, I rolled my eyes and thought it was just another marketing ploy. I was so wrong. I started to look forward to listening to this after watching an episode and it deepened my love for the show and constantly expanded my mind. It is so so so so good!!

BTS Analysis podcast as great as the show!
I rarely get into a podcast spinoff of a show but Lovecraft Country is too good y’all! The insight these fierce womyn give us on the show, the struggles writers faced in the writer’s room, the complex relationships and issues broken down serve as their own fine content, but also deeply enhances the filmed content. So so good. I’m gushing I know. Oh! And the further reading recommendations at the end are the stuff of an amazing college curriculum I hope to take someday. Can’t wait for another season to get into it!

    This podcast is EVERYTHING
Like EVERYTHING to me lately. I’ve listened to each episode at least 3 times. It’s not only the insight to the show that you receive from it, but also the insight into history, culture and family life. I now preach about Hyppolyta and naming yourself too often to family members and friends but I don’t care! Everyone MUST listen to this podcast & really absorb the messages they are sending. Love you ladies! Thank you!

    So grateful
Thank you for your insight on this fantastic show. It really helped me to better appreciate such a nuanced show, especially as a white woman. This show is a gritty and difficult invitation for white folks to question our American society through an enthralling action/drama filled sci-fi horror show!

    Just Amazing!
Best Podcast I’ve listened to, the depth, the explanations, the references, the love, the expression of blackness. This has been an Amazing journey and made the show that much better. The hosts make an amazing team. This is the first Podcast I’ve listened to that has honestly made me laugh, joyful, hopeful, and made me tear up. Just an amazing show.

Thank you for the references for further research. As well I hope the series Lovecraft Country wins tons of awards for acting, writing, directing. Thoroughly enjoying this
I already watched the whole first season and decided to listen to this after the fact. I absolutely wish I would have listened to this sooner! It is a delight to listen to all this wonderful context that the hosts add to the show. I enjoyed the show very much, but this gives me that next level of appreciation. Thank you so much!

    Wonderful Podcast 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I enjoy your commentaries of each episode. The background information and in-depth analysis is riveting.... I love the historical aspects and wish more of that was included in the show notes....

    Fire!
The series and this podcast are both FIRE! The way the hosts interact with each other is extremely refreshing! I wish the podcasts were longer, b/c there is so much to cover! I am so looking forward to both coming back...if they do!

    Come Back!!!!
Listening to this podcast after watching each episode of Lovecraft Country has been one of the best experiences during the pandemic. You two beautiful empowering women with your great voices are my newest she-roes. You’re both widely educated, grounded and hardworking. It’s so clear how passionate you are about Black America, our voices (in all its tones and shades), our expertise and experiences through time and space. This podcast, the HBO series, your expertise, and voices will always be in my heart. Thank you and I hope you both come back!

The podcast elevates the already amazing show!
I am so glad I found this podcast! I am going back and rewatching. Love the deep dives, resources and theme discussion! Thanks ladies!

Like the Show, but Why Sooo Many F-Bombs
I really like the podcast and hearing an explanation of what happened in the episodes. Also, I like the hosts. However, why are there so many f-bombs. I am not saying it should be sanitized with no swear words, but there are too many swear words and it takes away from the great conversations they are having on the show. It is especially upsetting on a show that features such great words from the likes of James Baldwin.

    Host Voice
Shannon seems hella cool but has a terrible voice for podcasting sorry boo

    Epic Sci Fi Series!
Really enjoyed watching the Lovecraft Country series on HBO! It was a wild ride that played on varying levels of emotions, drama, horror, and fantasy. Thank you for providing excellent insight from the show runner’s and writers perspective. Great interviews with some of the cast members added even more depth to the series. Hope there is a season/series wrap up podcast. Fingers crossed for Season 2!!

    A Black Girl Nerd Resurrected
I have been forever changed by Lovecraft Country and all its challenges, but even more by the Black Girl Glory that is this podcast! Every discussion and reference has been the exhumation of my journey in both Black womanhood in America and facing the horror genre with a wider set of eyes! Thank you! Magical, as expected!

    Well done!!!
Thank you so much for bringing the conversations to life this way! I felt affirmed in the feelings, suspicions and the relative works that came to mind! Y’all got it going on. I felt like i was in the writer’s room!

Awesome companion podcast to one of the best shows on TV this fall. I love how the show celebrates Black joy, creativity, and resilience and am glad to report this podcast does the same. Super insightful. Highly recommended if you’ve watched Lovecraft Country!

    Fantastic
One of the best podcast ever, loved every discussion, it helped me to pay closer attention to each subsequent episode, and appreciate them more. I couldn't wait to hear the coming weeks show sometimes more than the episode.

I love the show and the podcast! I love the connection as well as THE STORY AND THE his•story behind it as well. I feel like black families all NEED to sit and watch this show. Its THE MESSAGES! LOVE IS THE MESSAGE! For those who understand what True unapologetic LOVE is, THAT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE EXPLAINED! SPEAK YOUR TRUTH ALWAYS BECAUSE YOUR TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE! 🤎🤘🏾🐢

    Whitey’s on the moon
I’m just starting the show & podcast now that all the episodes are out—it’s so layered and scary and interesting. This episode in particular is good in their discussion of the sons of Adam: the key to why sexism & racism are intertwined like vines! The discussions in this podcast are so deep!

If you're a fan of the show, this takes it to another level!
I can't say enough great things about this podcast! In fact, this is the first review I've written on this platform (and you know all these apps are consistently nudging you to write one) and I'm more than happy to do it. Kudos to the hosts because you can tell they've immersed themselves in the experience of writing on the show to the point where they've practically graduated to this intellectual plane high above us mere mortals. I'm exaggerating of course but not by much. If the show made you think on a few things as opposed to just having it play in the background, then this podcast is for you. I guarantee whatever thoughts you had, these ladies are going to speak and expound on it. Great work to everyone involved!

    Groundbreaking
At first it was a lot to take in but the show turned out to be life changing. Great work. It gave my co host and I a chance to discuss the ways it impacted us on our podcast Small Victories and Side Notes

    Much needed
This podcast is much needed to follow the show! Lovecraft is so deep and having the podcast to follow along is great!

Enjoyable Podcast, but a few concerns. It seems this has been edited down to an hour, so there are topics in every episode that could be further discussed. It would be nice to have a black male cohost to discuss those things related to Tic/Montrose/George. Also, the generalization of all white people are the enemy is off putting. It was refreshing when the guests talked about black experiences, therefore exalting those topics that are rarely discussed rather than “well, those white folks...” If there’s a season 2, I’d bring back Ashley but replace Shannon. The “valley girl” type (like omg Buffy, etc) doesn’t help me relate.
