Huberman Lab

Huberman Lab discusses neuroscience — how our brain and its connections with the organs of our body control our perceptions, our behaviors, and our health. We also discuss existing and emerging tools for measuring and changing how our nervous system works.Andrew Huberman, Ph.D., is a neuroscientist and tenured professor in the department of neurobiology, and by courtesy, psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Stanford School of Medicine. He has made numerous significant contributions to the fields of brain development, brain function and neural plasticity, which is the ability of our nervous system to rewire and learn new behaviors, skills and cognitive functioning. Huberman is a McKnight Foundation and Pew Foundation Fellow and was awarded the Cogan Award, given to the scientist making the most significant discoveries in the study of vision, in 2017. His lab’s most recent work focuses on the influence of vision and respiration on human performance and brain states such as fear and courage. He also works on neural regeneration and directs a clinical trial to promote visual restoration in diseases that cause blindness. Huberman is also actively involved in developing tools now in use by the elite military in the U.S. and Canada, athletes, and technology industries to optimize performance in high stress environments, enhance neural plasticity, mitigate stress and optimize sleep.  Work from the Huberman Laboratory at Stanford School of Medicine has been published in top journals including Nature, Science and Cell and has been featured in TIME, BBC, Scientific American, Discover and other top media outlets. In 2021, Dr. Huberman launched the Huberman Lab podcast. The podcast is frequently ranked in the top 5 of all podcasts globally and is often ranked #1 in the categories of Science, Education, and Health & Fitness.

    Not great.
I am amazed at how often I hear basic high school level biology mistakes on this show. One example. Energy is not released when chemical bonds are broken. Heard this said twice. Studies are often referred to as fact. No mention on if the studies were peer reviewed. Or what journal they are published in.

Misogynistic narcissist posing as a sensitive new age man
Do your research on this guy before taking his word. Scientifically he’s got a very narrow scope of expertise (yet spouts ‘truths’ that aren’t proven). And he’s a manipulative misogynist. Get started by reading up on him in NY Magazine March 25, 2024.

Silent killer the medical community and Insurance companies abuse
Osteoporosis . I wish you would “dig into” this please. The drugs are dictated by the insurance companies who control the doctors . VERY FEW if not any medical doctors will take the time to really guide patients through it. It’s fast food medicine dictated by Insurance companies and the patients pay for insurance all their lives and then get turned down when Doctors recommend some better medications and the insurance want you follow STEP or “fail” in some cheaper drug first. But , once the cheaper one size fits all drug is in you for example a bisphosphonate, it ‘ s to late .

    Dude is a grifting grifter
Read up about this dude- he's Rogan for wanna-be health/psych nuts. Misinformation abounds. Listen if you must but with a critical ear. Better yet, skip completely.

I like the sleep episodes recently.
The guest series is so great, I’m listening to it for fun because it’s so interesting as much as I’m curious about helping my sleep. It would be interesting to see what Dr. Walker thinks about the people who have gotten world records by going without sleep for 10+ days.🤯

So much practical knowledge, so precise
Just scratching the surface, but thanks to Huberman Lab , I am more in tune with my dopamine escapism, trying to lean more in to the joy hard problem solving work brings. And the goal setting toolkit helps me be aware of the middle problem to better chop up those hard problems. Especially since, wow, our posture to stress, affects our action orientation to it. I can speak to practicing strategic sunlight exposure to help with sleep initiation too and countless other insights, but in summary I am endlessly grateful for all of this. Thank you!

    Parenting Podcast
Wow! Fantastic podcast. Really wish this had been available when we were raising our kids. But will pass it on to our kids for their children. And should provide interesting conversation to see what our children will change in their parenting vs how we parented them. Also - I’m sure we had one “deeply feeling”child! Thank you.

I got enough (formerly, I can’t get enough)
Fascinating topics and guests. Scientific but easy to understand with metaphors and explanations. Great wealth of free science knowledge from top minds! Update: don’t buy AG-1 from this guy. Take what serves you and leave the rest. Pay attention to whose credentials are relevant and who are just speaking anecdotally and acting like experts. I stopped following this guy after the infamous article. How you do anything is how you do everything. He lacks integrity and respect for others.

10/10 recommend! Don’t listen to the haters, Hubz. We love ya

Thank you for taking on ads to pay for the podcast. You might recruit Brian Johnson and Peter Attia for a paper review on liver supplements.

    Circuitous, Long…so long!
I listened to several episodes. I found them way too long. I couldn’t tell you what the point of any one of them were because they were so long and circuitous, nothing ‘took’. There was probably something in there that would have told me why! I also found the recording of it to be abrasive - just the sound quality, cadence, voice, etc., not really enjoyable. Perhaps that too is why nothing really stuck. Also, the quantity of commercial interruptions...yikes! I’ll be hunting for his ideas in some other format.

Can’t wait to read the article about what a mess you are and all the misinformation you are sharing…. I’ll be back after I read the article.

    Love it!
Yes, episodes are long. However they are informative and well researched.
  • He who shall remain nameless
    Ethics matter
Unfollowing. I don’t feel secure in Huberman’s relationship to facts. If he would treat the people he’s intimate with with such cunning and cruelty, imagine how little he cares about the faceless followers he’s never met. It’s been a week since allegations surfaced that Huberman is a serial cheat and a Machiavellian gaslighter. His response on instagram has been to ignore the allegations and even subtly mock them. This tells me that he doesn’t view the category of the allegations itself as a serious issue. Which lends confirmation to the accusations.

Manipulative show by a manipulative host.
Appreciate the credentialed guests. Don’t appreciate the misrepresentation and manipulation of studies and research done by the host. While his personal behavior is abhorrent and indefensible, I don’t think it’s the reason people should be thinking twice before listening to this podcast.

    My new fav
I’m so glad that lame NY article brought Huberman to my attention. I listened for the first time and now I’m hooked.

    Absolutely Brilliant!
Excellent podcast by a compassionate human. This NY mag situation is sad and I cannot believe how many total reprobates populate this world. I would love to know the intention behind this slanderous attack on a man who has dedicated his career to helping people become better versions of themselves. It’s appalling to read some of these comments. I shouldn’t be surprised… this country is littered with sheep. Andrew, the ones who matter know the truth. Keep plugging along!
  • Lbar57
    Say something - please
I can understand how ignoring the big scandal is the best way to go but still, really? You disturbed the life of many women, please say something. We can't just ignore the type of person you seem to be and keep walking, it doesn't work like that. Also, AG conflict of interest is kind of illegal, you can't advertise that without disclosing that you are a shareholder, you should also disclose that it's not actually that healthy, from what i've heard. have a nice day.
  • Oakleyrosee
    Best podcast
Andrew Huberman’s podcast is top quality information regarding so many important topics relevant to our overall well-being. If you’re looking to improve and educate yourself on how to become a healthier and happier human-join the club!

    Ugh
Gawd, what a slog. How is every episode like TWO hours long? Ain’t nobody got time for that. Half of every episode seems to be shilling some unproven supplement that this dude “conveniently” invests in, too. Hard pass.

May TRT thicken your blood to catastrophic levels. Like, have a cold shower and some estrogen. Loser.

    Fabulous and informative podcast
Really clear presentation of well researched information. Great choice of topics and interviewees. Exceptional podcaster with a gift for simplifying often complicated topics and a clear voice to deliver the information he has carefully gathered. This podcaster continues to offer fascinating scientific conversation with his characteristic knack for presenting it in a simple, approachable and implementable way. As a listener, i have been supported by this podcast to implement scientific research into my lifestyle choices. For this, I offer gratitude.
  • AmerSej
    Very informative
I don’t listen to podcast much but this one sure is great. As someone who could relate to the same upbringing, I find doctor Huberman very fascinating as I’m trying to “level up” in life with physical and mental state. Thank you Dr Huberman. You’ve brought me not only a different perspective on life in general but a purpose to full embark into my professional career. With that, I thank you sir. Please keep this going!
  • gutbacteria
An expert in one is not an expert in all
Just because Andrew is an expert in his narrow area of neuroscience does not give him the authority to talk as if he is an expert about controversial topics outside of his field. And as far as his character, the NY mag piece speaks for itself. There are lots of science and health podcasts out that that aren’t run by serial cheating manipulators. Go listen to those instead.

    Reading all the reviews
After reading the last 30 reviews, I now have to listen. Only goons try to downplay real life benefits. Not one was a honest review all one star. After I listen to my church podcast I will listen to this podcast

    Love this show!
Dr Huberman and I share a love of science and nitty gritty mechanism! I listened to one show and am hooked. I am a nurse and I have incorporated what I’ve learned into my my life personally but also to my patients through my practice. I have seen some neurostimlation devices for sale on social media claiming to be able to use electromagnetic pulses on the vagus nerve to produce focus and calm. I’d love Dr Huberman to look into and do a show on this! We are kindred spirit nerds and I want his opinion before I put stock in something like this. Thanks for all you do to promote science and knowledge ❤️👏🏻

Alcohol, Pharma and the “Food” Industry Hit Piece
Huberman may have 100 girlfriends but the fact remains, following his health advice will keep you out of the liquor store, away from the doctor’s office and probably add more years of quality to your life. Don’t want to sleep around? Don’t. Want to live longer? He’s your guy. My suspicion is that certain behemoth industries do NOT want his message to spread. It would be too costly. Just a … guess.

    Useful
Consistent and useful information for daily living. Although I encourage everyone to cross reference and do their own research, I trust the majority of information I receive from this podcast. It is unfortunate to see one article lead to a barrage of negative reviews on this podcast. Wish people could form their own opinions
  • hench_4_life
    Move on
There have been plenty of great guests and interesting topics in the show, but there is no reason to get health information from a manipulative narcissist and psychopathic liar when you can find it elsewhere.
  • Nikky78
    Full of himself
His podcasts are an average of 2 hours long!! Just that alone is so telling about the man he really is. It’s self-righteous to think that we have ALL the time in the world to spend listening to him, as if we don’t have busy lives or listen to other podcasters or actually live and practice our healthy lifestyles like he preaches us to live. He leaves us with no time for that because it’s just about him. He drags on about something that can be explained in 3 sentences but takes 10 minutes with many detours to get to the point. He can EASILY narrow all his podcasts down to an hour. After listening to a few of his podcasts, it becomes clear that he loves to hear himself speak. That sums it up for me. A narcissistic man. Don’t waste your 2 hours when you get similar info from functional health professionals who explain things in less than an hour!!!
  • Heuehrbs
As a scientist this misses the mark
Huberman is a fraud. He uses just enough high level language to suggest he’s an expert in every field. He often misleads listeners by referencing and highlighting “exciting” studies but if you click into them they are limited and/or only in vitro.

    The Fall of Andrew Pooperman
Until you come forward and address the allegations LIKE A MAN SHOULD (something you should know about since you’re on TRT), I will from here on out refer to you as Andrew Pooperman.

Read the New York Magazine profile
While some of the episodes with guests can be enlightening This guy overall is just a quote machine for advice u can find elsewhere. I dont take financial advice from financial advisors without their own money. Im not taking life advice from someone with such a sad personal life. Lying and cheating to women, clown behavior. Tim Ferris would never.

This show lost me a long time ago
Calls himself a proponent of wellness yet never promotes vaccines (which save millions of lives every year). Anytime they’re mentioned, he makes sure to mention autism even though mountains of research show no connection between vaccines and autism. AND YET he promotes and profits off of snake oil supplements like AG1 for which the “research” if you can even call it that, is a massive joke. At best a waste of money, at worst potentially harmful—supplements like AG1 are a product of pseudoscience, and anyone selling pseudoscience is DAMAGING scientific literacy, not improving it as AH claims is his goal with his podcast. AH doesn’t promote wellness, he promotes himself (a person who is decidedly unwell). I predict, now that Andrew has been outed as a misogynistic narcissist in NY Mag, that he will move more and more to the right wing—a safe space that will platform misogynistic narcissists like AH.
  • Chi whisperer
    NY Mag Article
I’m very sad for this boy/man AH and the many, many women (and likely their children) he has deceived. Odds are he can’t/won’t change. Women beware. AH, you might consider doing some REAL soul searching.

    Disgusting
These podcast bros like Andrew and Joe R are part of society’s problems. I’m not sure why they are influencing millions of men to be conspiracy theorists? Money I guess. But mistreatment of women and sociopathic behavior is kinda rich coming from this dude.
  • Lphyre
Does he really believe his own advice?
Dr Huberman is promoting his health advice to the world, but he shleps out his HPV disease and unhealthy manipulative treatment to women in his personal life. Check it out in the NY article.
