Ruthie's Table 4

Food #46

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation. For more information, recipes, and ingredients, go to https://shoptherivercafe.co.uk/ Web: https://rivercafe.co.uk/Instagram: www.instagram.com/therivercafelondon/Facebook: https://en-gb.facebook.com/therivercafelondon/ For more podcasts from iHeartRadio, visit the iheartradio app, apple podcasts, or wherever you listen to your favorite shows. Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

    I love this podcast!
I love Ruthie’s podcast. Always an excellent interview, interesting guests and just thoroughly enjoyable. I learn something new every week. This podcast is the only one I listen to regularly. Absolutely fantastic! I am new to River Cafe and was able to have dinner there last year on a visit to London- wow! It did not disappoint.

    Charming and educational
Just found this podcast. I really love hearing about family food habits/patterns/practices, especially re: guests of advanced age (e.g Mel Brooks, Martha Stewart). This podcast is a peek into the elite foodie world. I’m learning so much.

Simon ran away with my heart…
The sensual and creative nature of Simon Schama could release a dead man from the permanence of the grave. The most memorable podcast to date, Ruthie. From a more richly informed and grateful place, I thank you. Cheers!

The crème de la crème of podcasts!
I absolutely love Ruthie and this podcast. Her first episodes got me through Covid-transporting me from California to London, feeling I had met all sorts of interesting new people. In addition to being an incredible chef & restauranteur, Ruthie is an excellent interviewer-creating a warm atmosphere infused with wit, humor, intelligent conversation and, of course, a love of food and all that it brings. I am so grateful to Ruthie for doing this podcast and introducing us to all of these amazing friends of here , new and old. River Cafe is my favorite restaurant in the world and Ruthie my favorite podcaster-brava, Ruthie!

    Great chef, so so interviewer
Ruthie gets the very best guest and she is a remarkable chef and restauranteur. But, I find her a bit pretentious . When she is interviewing one of her many” famous best friends” it’s a bit precious and obsequious. And her skills as an interviewer needs polish.

    Table Four River Cafe
Nothing like it. Personal and passionate conversations about food, family, growing up and restaurants, led by Ruthie Rogers, an engaging, non-fawning host, who seems to have the ability to get celebrities to shed the artificial and get real.

A love song — a duet — sung to the glorious power of food.

    Flat interview
Ruth Waters is more than a chef—she is a divine artist. She is not, however, a skilled or talented interviewer.

Such a good 30 minute podcast!
Congratulations Ruthie Rogers for this amazing new podcast. It is a joy to listen to the owner of The River Cafe discuss food, and life, and food with Jake Gyllenhaal. I love the format and the time length. There are so many podcasts but this one is unique in combining food with fun and thoughtful conversation. I cannot wait for the next one.
