    Where’s Brooke?
This is just pathetic.I’ll give it a few more days but if you guys don’t do something about this I’m out of here. Are you going FOX? Very contradictory reporting on 20 July. Many were vaccinated? Don’t know how many were vaccinated? This is gotten ridiculous. Either do a podcast or don’t.Mary Poppins is nauseating.

    Brooke Howard’s repeated mispronouncements
It undermines her credibility. The most recent gaffe was botching the last name of Elise Stefanik. Inexcusable.

    Just keeps getting worse.
Been here since the beginning. Not worth listening to anymore. 50% of the show is commercials. The other half is not informative.

    Reader is really bad
I was so looking forward to listening to this twice a day. I love daily beast. Unfortunately the reader’s delivery is so bad I can’t pay attention and I’ve unsubscribed. Daily beast should have a professionally trained reader for something like this. Very disappointing. I’m sure she’s a nice person but she just isn’t able to read in a natural way. It sounds so stilted. Get her some training!

    Research
I have listened to this podcast for a while and I have to say you really need to explore both sides of an argument rather than slanted hits. I agree with much of what’s said but a few of these badmouth folks without a full explanation of the story.

    Doesn’t understand
I’ve been listening to this faithfully in spite of all the mispronunciations. But today was the last episode I will listen to. Comments were made about a recent story without an obvious understanding or consideration of the nuisances. Bye bye

    Great podcast
I have already come to rely on these twice daily podcasts. They are a great way to quickly keep up with the news each day.

    Already Essential
I have gotten to the point where I actively miss my Cheat Sheet on the weekends. My day isn’t complete till Brooke has gotten me up-to-date.

Trump would NOT be “only 2nd Republican in over 100 yrs not to win 2nd Term”
In 10/23/20 morning broadcast, this statement was made. Since 1923, GOP Presidents Harding, Hoover, Ford, and G.H.W. Bush all didn’t win second terms. Harding died after only 2 years in office so didn’t “run” for a second term, but Hoover sure did and lost spectacularly to FDR in 1932. Ford lost in 1976 to Carter and Poppy Bush lost in 1992 to Clinton so technically Trump would be 4th Republican president to lose a second term election in last 100 years, God willing.

I enjoy Brooke Howard’s delivery on the Cheat Sheet so much.

I want to like this more...
I really do. But the presentation is just too problematic. The host is simply not a good reader. Her reading is not natural-sounding. It’s as though she is just seeing some words for the first time. Case in point: the word “hospitalized.” There are other examples. There are always plenty of them. Otherwise, it’s a good, brief rundown of the day’s headlines from the Daily Beast perspective.

    This is a great pod
Brook’s voice is so cool. I love how she adds her lil commentary to the news. It’s priceless. Love that it comes on twice a day. Keep up the good work.

Material is good but cringe at
Material is good but I find myself cringing at the vocal inflictions. The news is dramatic enough without adding that added bit of vocal drama.

    Love the quick news!
I am glad someone suggested this podcast to me. The speaker is incredibly clear when she speaks and I really like the quick news. It makes getting news a lot easier than sifting through news websites. It’d also be nice to get a 15-20 minute news recap! Just a thought.

    Useful and Quick
A great way to get a lot of news in just a few minutes.
  • blockingmypost
    good quick summaries, but
Since all the information is spoken, correct pronunciation of basic words is super important to me. Things like The Dilly Beast, the president’s twit, etc. are like fingernails on a chalkboard.

    I don’t write reviews but...
...I could listen to this broadcaster all day even if the content wasn’t exactly the news I needed to stay up to date without spending a single second on C-Span. Lucky me, best of both worlds. Never gave the Daily Beast a chance. I shall.

    Great start to my day
Quick take on what’s happening in the world, keeping one’s focus on important news. The reader’s voice is clear, concise, and compassionate. Great start to my day!

Siri is better at reading news to me
I don’t know who this host is, but he sounds like a fifth grader reading aloud in front of the class from an eighth grade textbook. Daily beast writing is clearly above his reading level and it makes it extremely difficult for the listener to comprehend the crux of the story. Also there isn’t enough separation between stories. It’s hard to figure out where one story ends and the next one starts. Note to producers: If you’re going to quote something that someone said and it was recorded / broadcast, use the podcast audio format to your advantage and insert the actual audio quote instead of having the host read it with slightly different inflection. Unlike print, there are no visible or audible quotation marks to help separate the quote form the author’s writing.
