    Almost perfect
Great content but the fake self-conscious laughter grates. It always takes me out when I hear Maris fake laughing at the most innocuous statement.

Like hanging with my smart friends!
Maris is incredible, and there is so much intelligence floating around in every episode.

    The Best!!!!
This is a must-listen for anyone who loves books. Maris brings such depth, warmth, and thoughtfulness to every interview, and it clearly brings such insight and passion out of the guests. In particular, I ended up putting Cleanness at the top of my list after listening to Garth Greenwell’s incredible interview, and it was my favorite book I’ve read in the past year. After reading it, I even went back to the episode and listened again, and realized there was so much more there for me to appreciate. Thank you Maris (and all involved) for giving us so many great recommendations and for making us love books even more than we already do!!!

The Best Book Podcast, No Question
There are a lot of excellent literary podcasts out there right now, but The Maris Review is in a class all its own. Maris is a great host and a great interviewer, but her most extraordinary gift is her ability to make a space where her guests can shine. And her guests are amazing!

Maris is an excellent interviewer and this podcast is consistently great. One of the best literary podcasts around. And the recommendations segment is wonderful!

    A skilled and thoughtful interviewer
Maris Kreizman is an insightful, compassionate interviewer who always seems to intuit precisely what to ask her guests, and how. She fosters lively, rich conversations, and her sharp literary mind and profound knowledge make her podcast singularly excellent. I’m so impressed by her, and love listening.

Maris does the best author interviews!
Maris comes to each interview well-prepared, having read the works carefully. She is intelligent, curious, and empathetic. Love the authors more after she interviews them!

    Must-Listen Podcast for Readers
Maris has an uncanny ability to ask writers interesting questions, to get writers to unpack their work in captivating ways, and to stride the line between fangirl and critic. I have learned so much as a writer and as a reader from Maris's podcast. I can't recommend it highly enough.

    !!!
Have long followed Maris on twitter but have been slacking in checking out this podcast. My bad! Maris’ enthusiasm for books is readily apparent and fun to hear. Maris is a thoughtful interviewer and has an incredible range of interesting guests worth checking out if you’re into reading or the behind the scene processes that go into some of the more worthwhile new releases.

    An Essential books podcast
Maris has truly wonderful taste in books and in guests, and she’s able to get the most interesting people writing in the studio. So the result is informal and funny and entertaining— but always, always really insightful. You’ll feel smarter!

    Ugh. Awful
I had high hopes of listening to good conversation and learning about more authors (& their books). Instead, another white woman (women in this episode) trivializing and minimizing anyone who is not white or a woman.🤦‍♀️ If you truly use the word ‘token’ in your life, you’re doing it wrong. Very disappointed.

Like listening to a well read friend at a dinner party
Maris is so natural and conversational with her guests! You can tell she is a true book enthusiast who is respected by many authors in a variety of genres!

    Maris is delightful
Maris makes podcasting look effortless. She is smart, funny, and instantly puts her guests at ease. The podcast is not too long yet always leaves me wanting more. I love hearing what authors are watching, reading and listening to. I also love that this podcast is accessible - you don't have to have a graduate degree to know what folks are talking about. Two thumbs up!

    Maris is a great interviewer
Maybe I should dock a star bc after discovering this podcast my reading list has gotten WAY TOO LONG, HOW WILL I HAVE TIME FOR ALL THE BOOKS????!! 😫😫😫🤯

    A great listen for booklovers
Maris is known for her candid, intelligent writing and commentary on books and culture and their impact on how we see the world and this podcast allows us that much more of her voice and recommendations. And it’s funny! And it inevitable makes me want to buy the books by the interview subjects. I’m so glad this podcast exists. It’s catnip for readers and booklovers.

    Great conversations, great theme music
The conversation with Mira Jacob in the first episode was phenomenal and I’ve enjoyed the rest of the show so far as well. Plus the show has some of my favorite theme music of all time.

    Simply great!!!
After following Maris for a while for excellent book recommendations, I was so happy to see she started a podcast. The first episode was a wonderful discussion that led me straight to a bookstore. Looking forward to more authors I may not be aware of yet to expand my library!

    Smart funny and real!
Have long enjoyed Maris’s writing and love author conversations. So I was delighted to hear about this show and am already v.into it, particularly the generosity of discussing the author’s influences outside of books eg: passing on info about this incredible NYRB piece on climate I would have otherwise missed. The Mira Jacob’s interview was moving and real with great pace and humor too. Subscribed and sharing w/friends ❤️
