Somebody Killed Mom

40

Eve’s been struggling since her retirement. Cancelling appointments, forgetting simple things…sleeping an awful lot. Her three kids are worried. When the oldest decides to check in on Eve before heading off to an important work dinner, the simple visit turns into something much bigger, and darker, than anyone could have predicted. Through found audio - phone calls, Facetime, Skype, live social media posts and recordings caught by unwitting bystanders - listen in as Abi, Kay and Joey work with, and sometimes against, each other as they try to piece together what happened…and who’s to blame.

    one of my all-time favorites!!
I couldn’t help but listen to this entire podcast in two days - and then I went back to listen to it a second time. The word that comes to mind to describe it best is real. The characters are compelling because of their flaws, and the story illuminates how we, as people, truly react to “unpleasant” things in this world, particularly addiction. It was refreshing to listen to something that tackles these issues so honestly and yet so gracefully. Highly recommend to all podcast lovers!

Started to sound like a PSA
It's okay. I enjoyed the first few episodes when the mystery was unfolding, but the ending made it sound like a PSA. I felt like the story kind of fell apart. Maybe it was too realistic for me as I was expecting more of a fictional mystery to be solved.

    Emotional and engaging
What an excellent podcast. The story is raw and emotional, one that I think many families can relate to. This podcast unpacks a family drama that deals with themes of addiction and mental health. These are incredibly important topics and I am glad there is a podcast out there addressing them. Beyond the engrossing story line, the voice actors and sound effects make this a must listen.

    Exciting, Dramatic, and Necessary
Such a deeply engaging story from moment one - I ended up doing even more spring cleaning around the house just to keep listening to more episodes. I couldn't stop listening. Not only is there the intriguing mystery element, but it also felt like a truthful story about family and the way we forget each other in our own grief. Exciting, dramatic, and honest - there's a plethora of podcasts to choose from out there, but this one must be top of the list.
