    Steve interviews some of the most interesting people in video games, and gets them to tell the stories of how they got to where they are, and what it's like to be there. The interviews are always in-depth, intriguing and insightful, even if they feature a dev I have no prior knowledge of. I just love how the game industry is becoming more transparent, and Steve is one of the main people making this happen. Please, keep up the great work and make a season 2!

    Stever Gaynor's candid and non-"dumbed down" interviews with game designers are always incredibly interesting and inspiring. I'll be bummed when this podcast stops for a bit when Steve goes back to casting a game instead of a pod.

    Steve Gaynor (of The Fullbright Company, developer of Gone Home) sits down with game developers and talks to them about games, game development, and environs. Turns out there are a lot of environs. Tone Control gives you the human side of video game development; what is it about these crazy things called video games that compels people to play them and then sometimes make them? What is the inspiration? What is the career trajectory? Within just the first few episodes, Steve has interviewed people with stories ranging from Tom Bissell's (wrote about not video games, then wrote about video games, then wrote a video game) to Brendon Chung's (went from modder to maker). The format is without fault, and all that is left to see is whether or not the show can continue to draw a healthy variety of guests. Assuming it does, Tone Control will end up as something really special, and something the video game commentary field needs more of: an in-depth, primary document of a period in the history of video games.

    Steve does a great job letting the subjects of each of his episodes take the floor. His questions are enthusiastic and well researched (he’s obviously a auteur himself), and the result is what feels like a insider commentary that’s not delivered in jargon that an outsider won’t get.

    If you like video games beyond just playing them you should really try this out. You get to hear game designers talk about past projects without the PR spin and it's quite enlightening.

    Inside the actors studio of video games. I can't remember being as drawn in with other podcasts as Tone Control. To hear the thoughts and stories from developers who have helped shaped the industry is invaluble. Regardless of how many episodes will be recorded, this one will stand out beyond all others.

    Steve Gaynor is one of the best and brightest in video games. And he seems to love what he does. That love and passion seems to seep through every pore of Tone Control. The most entertaining and captivating podcast out there for gamers (and maybe in general as well!). Each episode inspires and has lots to learn about the industry. Honestly making me take notes while listening. Thank you so much for the cast, Steve! And keep it up!

    Very insightful new podcast
    As a big fan of Idle Thumbs, the Fullbright blog, and Telltale Games's body of work, I found the first episode of Tone Control very entertaining. As a prospective game designer/programmer, I really enjoyed hearing about the somewhat mundane aspects of the team's behind the scenes scheduling and logistics. Steve Gaynor (the host) also asks the right questions in order to learn more about the personal perspectives of Jake Rodkin and Sean Vannaman; the specifics of their career histories; game development experiences; The Walking Dead The Game's story inspirations and nuances. Steve also shares many valuable anecdotes from his own history in the industry as a AAA dev, game critic, and indie dev. The show overall was great. I'm excited to see who he gets for the next show. I'd love to hear someone from 2K or Double Fine.
