Great story telling, never leaves me feeling depressed.

I heard Jonathan’s voice on This American Life one day. As another Montreal transplant living in the US, my nostalgia was stirred and I spotted his Canadian accent instantly. Intrigued at the reference to this show and my curiosity about Jonathan, I found Heavyweight. It’s been a beacon in my life during a bit of a tough time. I can’t get through an episode without laughing, and then crying, and then laughing again. I’ve binged all 8 seasons in about 6wks and could not believe when I got to the end of season 8 to learn that the show hasn’t yet been renewed. Jonathan, you (and your team) are a joy to listen to. Your vocabulary is brilliant — I literally write down your words in my journal in the hopes of making my own vocab a little juicier. I have now told all my friends to listen, and anxiously wait for the show’s return. Thanks for the wonderful storytelling and doing what you do.

This show is like David Sedaris meets Humans of New York meets a depressed and amusingly irreverent Nancy Drew. I miss it so much. I’m re-listening to the entire library with melancholy nostalgia, remembering how much I enjoyed them the first time around. Thank you for existing, Jonathan Goldstein.

Heavyweight is easily one of the top 5 podcasts of all time. It is one of the few glimmers of hope in the world that humans can sometimes be and do good. I miss it very much and hope it comes back soon.

I love this podcast!! I also want Johnathon to find my second grade teacher in 1974 I loved her and she was kind and beautiful She was the only black teacher at our newly desegregated school. She did not stay long… I wonder what happened to her. I want to thank her and share my experience as a young white woman working in Chicago Public Schools

There are already a plethora of good reviews on this podcast but I just wanted to write one more in hopes it will be another reason to make more episodes 😭 I listened to every episode while postpartum with my second baby. It comforted me and gave me something to listen to during those lonely late night feedings. I laughed. Cried. Gasped. Retold the episodes to my husband etc. So good. Just listen! And please come back to us soon. We love you!!!!

I love how real this podcast and how much obvious love and care goes into each episode. I just discovered this podcast over the summer and very quickly finished it! I hope there are more episodes to come soon!

Every story pulls you in and make sure invested in the stories of every day people. The host, Jonathan Goldstein, and the producer, Kalila do an absolutely brilliant job of digging into stories and asking the questions we would all want to know. It’s almost like if you heard a really great story at a dinner party, but you got to talk to all of the characters involved to get their perspective. Through everyone’s version, you find the common truth. I love this podcast.

This is a truly exceptional podcast that I keep hoping will return for another season. I keep coming back to see if it has returned.

I love this show so much! Jonathan Goldstein is an immensely talented storyteller. His shows demonstrate how deeply he cares about the individuals in his stories. I sometimes weep because I am so touched and then laugh because his humor is so clever. I can’t imagine why there’s such a challenge finding a home for this beautiful podcast.
