It is my dream to grow up to be a professional 2d animator and hopefully be a CN animator! I already have a YouTube channel and I’m making a parody series of The Amazing World of Gumball. Great pod. Make more!!!

bojangles4lyfeJust HAD to have a all female episodeIt was going GREAT till i got to the woman episode. So unnecessary. Im all for woman having equal rights, but going out of the way to make an entire episode about it, all that does it UNequalize the females cause it makes them seem LESS equal. If the goal was to spotlight female talent, she should have just incorporated more female interviews in the whole show to spotlight them. She chose to interview mainly men, but then makes an episode about how woman arent getting enough spotlight? The thing is, again, im not against equality, just spotlighting it like that is a cheap way to do it. Kinda brought my mood down on the whole series which was PHENOMENAL
-
squirreltoothWhitewashed history of animationHard to take this podcast seriously when Bosko is discussed at length without ever mentioning that he’s a horrific racial stereotype retconned into a dog.
-

ringdocoh noI just heard my last podcast of Drawn, how can it be so, I did not even think in terms of it being a limited podcast, I guess it can not go on forever, but I still want it too, next!
-
armastrobattistaSeason 2 PLEASE!I’m really hoping Holly gets to do another season of this podcast. Her commentary supplementing the interviews she gives is just delightful. I would love to learn more about other styles of animation (like the Anime that was briefly mentioned) and they way each gender is depicted in animation. I would highly recommend Drawn to any fan of animation.
-
psumegGreat podcast!Loved every minute of this podcast- I was sadden to hear it’s wrapped up in essentially 12 episodes! You all left me wanting more! Great job, enjoyed it so much!

LockeexoduI want more! This is a fantastic podcast that provides great perspective on the history of animation and the industry in general. I’ve loved the entire series and hope there is more on the way.
-
Kestrel4267Highest marksThis is the most engaging and informative podcast about animation. I am not a fan of podcasts that spend an hour babbling about nothing and then spending way too long on films and subjects they don’t really understand. This is not that! This is a well written and well prepared show that had me at the intro jingle. I’m a Stopmotion animator and I really appreciate the length to which she has gone to give her audience the real picture of our industry!
-
Car Guy Josh BCharming and delightful!!I’ve been listening to HSW podcasts for years, including the other show Holly is a part of with which I am familiar, Stuff You Missed In History Class, and they are amongst my favorites - even after almost a decade of listening to them! I have listened to the first 4 episodes of Drawn at this point, and I am most definitely hooked! It is a charming, entertaining, delightful, interesting, in-depth look at the world of animation. I love cartoons but never really knew that much about them, and this show is still accessible for me, which helps. I haven’t felt like any of it has been over my head. Holly is a delight, is engaging to listen to, and I love that her love of animation shines through in this work so brightly! As a side note, it is chock-full of tidbits of sound from a variety of cartoons, which definitely adds to the listening experience. I highly recommend this show for anyone!
-
lollicoThis is awesome!!This podcast is awesome!I used to think that podcasts were boooring😩😩but now I listen to this every day!it is totally a 5🥇🥇star podcast!😇I love animation I once made my first cartoon it wasn’t very good but now I’m actually understanding animation!

Alexander GatesHow Animation WorksFrom eminent podcast Holly Frey comes a limited series about the history, development, and production of animation as a story telling medium. Each episode takes a deep dive into a different aspect, from the sound and voices, to the drawing and history. I love the special guests, either artists or voice actors, and all the anecdotes and expertise they bring to the show. The only negative is I know this show will be ending.

rabbithillLook forward every weekI look forward every week to hearing Holly and her new podcast. Very well done. She has me spending a lot of time watching The Boomerang Network.

Twerkburger46 And Still Watching CartoonsThis Podcast Is So Incredibly Wonderful. I Am A Long Time Fan Of Animation From Ricochet Rabbit And Thundar The Barbarian To Teen Titans And Rick And Morty. I Absolutely Love Every Podcast So Far. I Was Wondering If Maybe You Could Touch On Video Game Animation As Well. I’m A Big Gamer Too. 🙂 I Really Appreciate All Of The Hard Work That Your Doing For This Podcast And From The Bottom Of My Heart I Thank You. I Too Have Always Had A Passion For Animation And This Podcast Is A Blessing.
-
AHWolfAwesome!Holly Frey is a great host, and her nerdy joy and expertise for the subject really comes through. This is such a great podcast for deconstructing enthusiasm and nostalgia for animation while also being really fun, and I’m so glad it exists. Plus, it’s really well put together: solid pacing, great sound quality, and fabulous guests (would loooove to hear from Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, Andrea Romano, Bruce Timm, or basically any of the DCAU crew in a future ep). I look forward to every episode 🙌
-
mwindoDeeper Dive Second SeasonA great start without a doubt. Next I hope to hear a deeper dive into genres, archetype characters, tropes, anime and international cartoons and their impacts.
-
happeybunneyBlack woman and cartoon lover!I like this podcast a lot, and as a Black woman and lover of animation and animation history, I was hoping that there would be some conversation about racist depictions in early cartoons. Hopefully representation will be discussed along with animation’s place in politics. This would be wonderful given the input of Adult Swim execs on the podcast, and the fact that Boondocks is featured on Adultswim. People of color also love cartoons, and deserve more than three words about racism (eg, episode 2 when discussing the types of jokes in early cartoons...also upsetting because a large part of episode 2 was about vaudeville, and anyone who has studied American entertainment knows vaudeville was based in racist depictions of African Americans and Chinese immigrants). Great podcast tho!!
