Okay but not all good episodes
The behind the music segments are not the best work of the host. The actual music choices are very subjective. The hosts really don't know much about music. The business and apps was much better.

    Great
I love these sort of sub-series that I would probably get bored of if they were their own podcasts, but instead they end after a while and together make up a larger podcast that is greater than the sum of its parts.

    Perfect!
This is as good as a podcast gets for me. Listening to John Siracusa talk about "Achtung Baby" had me grinning like an idiot at the gym today. This favorite album series is fun and fascinating. Thank you for making it, Mike.

    Wow
First, Myke tested out doing something different with Behind the App and now he is doing the music series. This is just fantastic! I love your creative ideas Myke…keep it up!

    Radiolab Quality - Apple focused!
I listen to many Tech/Apple podcasts. What this new series that Myke is doing is simply on another level. It is investigative journalism, great interview cuts, a narrative. It really is Radiolab-like, with Apple as the focus. Simply Podcasting at its best, period...KEEP DOING THESE! BTW: If you love 'Pet Sounds', listen to The Zombies 'Odessey and Oracle' - Greatest album of all time and out Beach Boys the Beach Boys, mind blown!

    Deep tech stories
Myke chose to revamp and relaunch "Inquisitive" a few months back, and the new format is fantastic. Instead of yet another "two guys talking" podcast, Inquisitive borrows a page from NPR, bringing together various interviews and Myke's own reporting to tell a coherent, season-length story. The current season focuses on the App store, ite genesis and evolution, and I can already tell that people who are interested in the history of technology will be consulting the show to learn what being an app developer was like in this moment in history. Plus, each episode runs about thirty minutes, which is a welcome change of pace from hour plus shows that define both the Relay network and most other tech podcasts.

    I LOVE the new format
I really LOVE the new format - especially the topical nature of each series. The editing is also superb. This first miniseries on “Behind the App” has been every interesting enjoyable. As an app developer, it’s nice to hear about others’ experiences… I don’t feel so crazy after all! :)

    Love this podcast
While all of Relay’s shows have great voices, the “Behind the App” series has an incredible direction - providing great insight and fantastic information. I love this podcast and move it to the top of my playlist whenever a new episode comes out. Everyone should be listening.

Great, great podcast for those interested in the iOS app ecosystem.
Myke Hurley has really knocked it out of the park with the most recent series of Inquisitive podcasts, Behind The App. The series has a slicker, more produced style than other Relay FM podcasts which tend to be more conversational, but it sounds wonderful. The interviews are top notch as well - Myke got some of the best indie devs around to talk about their experiences developing iOS apps. Just add it to your queue, you won’t be disappointed.

    Since The Bro Show...
I have enjoyed following iMyke since The Bro Show. And this latest iteration of his interview show is no exception to his usual greatness. I am enjoying this series and excited to see where it may lead.

    Fantastic
Great! Documentary format of the recent episodes makes a thorough and thoughtful podcast worthy of BBC or NPR. I hope Apple staff pay attention.

'Behind the App' is Worth Your Time
Something has to be pretty special for me to write a review. Inquisitive's 'Behind the App' series is informative, interesting & well-produced. The music is a good fit too. If your a fan of Apple &/or software development it's totally worth a listen.

Great interviews, love the new format
Myke (as of episode 27), started a new format for the show, “Behind the App” a series about iOS app development, and developers on that platform. It’s incredibly well done and insightful. He manages to weave together a bunch of compelling narratives. I look forward to seeing where he takes it.

Raises the standard for every other podcast
The "Behind the App" series raises the standard for every other technical podcast. The quality of content and production is absolutely astounding. I have listened to podcasts for several years and I can confidently say that the first installment of the "Behind the App" series is the finest and most professional piece of work I have ever listened to. Mike has served notice to every other podcast network...the bar has been raised!

Another amazing new direction for Myke
The new format of Inquisitive gives Myke a chance to truly build an oral history of technology and the people behind it. It’s quite well done, and it’s exciting to hear Myke talk about the switch. Something to truly be known for!

Fantastic reboot of a classic show
The app history episode show's production, storytelling, and interviews are fantastic. A lot more editing and production and it transforms and already great podcast into a beautiful one. Great new direction and I look forward to new episodes.

    Behind the App is Wonderful
With episode 27, Inquisitive is heading in a new direction with multiple episode series discussing a single topic. The first is called Behind the App, a story of the history and people behind the App Store. The first episode, which delves into the history is amazing. It strikes the right balance between narration and first-person accounts of the rise of the App Store in a way that is both comprehensive and accessible to a wide variety of listeners. The production is a cut above too. I got to the end of episode 27 and can hardly wait for the next one to come out. Well done!

    A study in excellence
As somebody who listens to a few podcasts per day (time limits really hamper the many I'd like to listen to) I'm very particular about my subscriptions. I've followed Mike Hurley from his days 5by5 and love his interview style. It's organic, easy on the ears, he doesn't let his guests drone on (well, Marco Arment couldn't help himself) and has a great balance and sense of where he fits as an interviewer. His questions are things I would ask. One of my 5 feeds on Overcast right now. Two thumbs up.

What would you like to be known for?
Myke is bringing some of the best people in the world to the forefront of his podcast — asking them what makes them tick. This is a great show with a great first episode.

So far, out of this world
This new Relay thing is fantastic. This episode went in-depth and philosophical and light at times. Gave lots of great stuff too into business acumen, but also plenty of humor.
  • AaronLMGoodwin
    Fantastic!
Apparently, what Myke likes to be known for is being an awesome podcast magnate and excellent interviewer.
