    What a wonderful thing
My Fridays are going to be more glum without you guys, I’m already missing you. No guilt or anything, but I truly loved having you three be a part of my Friday every week for so long, it meant a lot to have information and levity at the same time. Hope you’re well!

    Please don’t leave me
I’m. So. Sad. Please don’t leave me alone here. Please. I love you three so much. Please. Please.

    Sad
I am so sad to hear of the show ending. You 2/3 were the highlight of my Friday.

    Thank you
Thank you Courtney, Brent, Travis and Muston! Y’all made me heard when I was scared, assured when I was nervous and gave me lots of laughs. SO MANY! Cheers to y’all. And loved the outtakes at the end felt like the perfect end to a series

    Farewell
Travis, Brent, and Courtney, if you read this, I want to thank all three of you for the years you’ve dedicated to this podcast. I stopped listening to the news about two years ago for my own mental health, but I always listened to each new episode to get my (paaaaaaaaaahlitics) roundup. You all allowed me to stay informed, all while making me laugh (and sometimes cry), and you always ending on a good note gave me hope. Thank you for the education, the laughter, and the opportunity to go through the years with you. I love you all and I’ll miss this podcast, but I can’t wait to see what you do in the future.

    Farewell!!!
I loved this podcast! I hate news and politics, but I felt like I could get important information about current affairs from people who care about others. I'll miss hearing this podcast, but I hope each host does well in their next stage!!!!!!!

    Neolib fluff
Great if you want to listen to two out-of-touch white people claim to be woke while shaming the left.

Gone from my feed but not forgotten
I'll be honest, I left when Travis left, but not because of that. It just got to the point where I was very aware of how long the intro had become. I wanted to at least start the discussion on the actual news during my 20 minute commute, and I needed something to leave my weekly podcast regimen. I love Courtney, I started listening right before she became a full time host, and I don't think i would've enjoyed the show otherwise. If you're looking at replacements for a third host I hope you guys eventually choose another lady.

Getting Facts Right Is Your Job
Brent likes to pretend he’s a scientist while getting the facts wrong and often spreading harmful or bigoted information in. Additionally, prefacing information with “Don’t quote me on this but...” or “I’ve heard some people are saying...” is not appropriate when acting as a journalistic source. At this point the show has a wide enough audience that this ignorance can have serious repercussions. Especially now in the COVID 19 quarantine this is dangerous and is fueling an already out of control fire. This show need to do better.

    Favourite
This is the only podcast that I’ve consistently listened to, among the dozens I’ve followed. It’s been a long time companion to my ears, and I look forward to every episode. I love Courtney, and she’s

Gotta stop listening to Travis shows
I started listening to this because of Travis. Yeah, he’s be gone sometimes but there was always the promise of him coming back. His lightness and joy balanced out the performative wokeness of three white hosts, but this is the second show of his that he’s backed out of and I’m kind of picking up a flakiness vibe from him. Without him, this show isn’t worth it, and I might just stop listening to Travis shows altogether.

    Thank Travis for Travis
With the announcement that Travis is stepping back, I think I have to as well. He brings a lightness to the show that the other hosts can’t manufacture in his absence. While Brent and Courtney are good in their own rights, they need Travis’s natural demeanor to be able to straddle that line between heavy news content and the lighter comedy and rapport between the “real life friends talking internet trends.” Goodbye, Travis. Goodbye, Trends. We’ve had a good run. 💜

    SO MUCH WHITE
If you like performative wokeism from white people this is for you. White wine and/or Pomplemousse LaCroix will probably be mentioned. This must have been awful without Courtney.

    Can’t wait for November
I can’t wait for the election season to end. I like Courtney’s humor and her takes on general news, but her political leanings are not my fave.

    Courtney Rocks
I’ve loved having Courtney on the show for however long she’s been on. I have listened from the beginning, and she’s introduced a dynamic to TLT that I really appreciate and that I think has made TLT a million times better.

    Good show!
Courtney is the best part of this show, hands down!

    Good but interest is declining
Glad they do their research on things and i do like listening to keep up with the news but think i enjoyed the show more before Courtney was a host, I feel like shes poor representation for having a woman’s perspective on the show, she’s like a caricature of a feminist. I understand where shes coming from also being someone who is dfmab so this isnt a jab because shes a woman this is a jab that shes never contributing anything spectacular to the show and is always so hard to listen to. Im not sure what else to say but i know sometimes feedback can be helpful for improving a show? Im sad that my interest is definitely declining.

    Not Marxist enough!
These guys are relatively centrist, but they do their research. I appreciate that they clarify when they are saying an opinion vs. an actual fact. And they do their due dilligence, so even if I don't agree with the analysis I can still learn something and keep informed about what Democrats are saying.

    Let Courtney Speak
Hey guys, love yall, love the podcast. Just wanted to pop into to say hey, maybe Brent should stop talking over and interrupting Courtney? I like Brent, but there are some moments I’m starting to find irritating where it really feels like he’s trying to position himself as the logical party, and Courtney is the emotional womanly perspective. He probably doesn’t realize it, and I understand that, but I just wanted to reach out about my concern. Thanks!
  • Bigtimewhovian
    I love Courtney!
I enjoy listening to this podcast! I adore the hosts and how it feels like a much less depressing way to digest the news! Obviously it’s not perfect, but they try and they care sincerely and truly. That’s what I love. And to Courtney: you’re doing wonderfully, I love your contributions to the show, they are valid and heckin’ awesome. Keep your chin up, you’re the bomb!

    Good content...
This podcast covers, albeit briefly, the trending news each week. They keep it to around an hour, but I could do with two...but I know not everyone has that kind of time to listen. I like Travis and Brent okay, but I ADORE Courtney's additions. She is a writer at a number of outlets, and provides well researched and well written content. Additionally, she is charming and amusing. I appreciate her unflinching feminist take on the trending stories of the week, and am always disapointed when she misses an episode.

I’m drinking an iced espresso almond milk latte✨
Courtney, Brent, and Travis make my day every Friday(/Saturday in New Zealand) when I can hear them talk about the happenings in the world in a in-depth way that helps me even further understand what’s going on. Even when one of the trio is missing, the show is still just as wholesome, informative, and VERY IMPORTANT! I do have to admit, I think the show is at its best when Courtney is on mic, and I miss her banter and valuable opinions when she’s not on, but no matter who is running the show, it’s very very fantastic. Thank you, the three of you, for your hard work, and for making my Friday/Saturday the best it could possibly be every week. Cheers to you with whatever you’re drinking today, and stay hydrated, ear anchors💖

    Starting to exhaust me...
I'm a long-time listener who is beginning to grow weary with the show, and I feel compelled to weigh in since I'm seeing a lot of my own complaints echoed in the other reviews. I don't want to unsubscribe -- I think I would "miss" them each week! -- but I also want them to do better, so here's my opinion: They often cover stories I'm already familiar with and then just offer a predictable SJW take on it - Yawn. I find myself waiting for them to consider the gray areas, to consider the nuance of a situation - Sometimes they do, but most of the time they don't. I agree that the show used to be better. And I don't want to hate on Courtney, but at least once per episode (but usually more often than that), Courtney says something way too loudly, or too forcefully, or just something that is way over the line into SJW territory for me, and I lean Left. It feels disingenuous, like she just wants to portray an image. I wish she would calm down a bit, and I wish as a group (when they are actually all together), could more frequently discuss all sides of a story instead of the same old boring SJW take. Also, I fast forward through all of the Marvel, Star Wars, gaming conversation. I know they're all immersed in those worlds, but they often devote much more time to those topics in any given episode than anything else. I'll keep listening for now, but not sure I would recommend this podcast to anyone else.

    Great show
It’s not perfect, but no show is, so who cares. Travis is awesome, Brent is awesome, Courtney is awesome. It’s not going to be for everyone, but the mix of three very different people trying to come to terms with the darkest timeline without imploding while also trying to entertain their audience is wonderful thing. Also, Courtney’s voice, language, tone, existence, is a gift, and the people leaving mean reviews targeting her are the people who’ll be left behind during the rapture. Look it up.

    :D
Listening to trends Like These is my favorite way to catch up on the news without having total “the world is a dumpster fire” burn out. It’s also nice to listen to other people rage about the same things that make me upset. Also Courtney is amazing, anyone who says otherwise just can’t deal with women having opinions and her dramatic readings are a treasure. Oh yeah, and Travis and Brent are pretty fun I guess :p (kidding, I started listening because of Travis and Brent but Courtney is awesome and apparently people on here don’t like to admit that.)

    courtney enlow appreciation!!!
I pretty much listen exclusively for Courtney. from one foul-mouthed, outspoken lady to another... LOVE IT!!!
  • hbyounk
This review is 100% in support of Courtney
I love Courtney, and this show, and Courtney being on this show. 5/5 for the show, 5/5 for the Courtney content.
  • Getthisapp44542
The best episodes are the ones with out Courtney
The show is good but her voice is annoying and she feels the need to attack anyone with any view point bot in line with her neo feminist anti male view point
  • MimiXTachikawa
    Informative and well researched
I’ve been listening to this podcast since day one, and it’s a mainstay in my top 5 fave podcasts. Recently there have been a lot of episodes that don’t feature all three hosts for various work, illness, travel, or home life reasons.. and I just have to say that I really truly appreciate how much care and effort the trends like these hosts and editor put into making each episode work regardless of circumstance.

    Brent Slow Your Roll
Used to donate to these guys on maxfun but Brent’s ability to pseudoexcuse anyone’s behaviors as long as they criticize the DNC just gets really old.
  • Toby (the girl)
    Could do better
I like Travis and Courtney, but Brent comes across as a Privileged Cishet White Man in ways that Travis doesn’t. It’s fun when Courtney tells him off but you can tell Brent doesn’t think about what it’s like to be a woman in society. Otherwise it’s fine, you just have to keep in mind they aren’t experts on politics or anything. I totally understand busy schedules, but I wish Travis could be on more episodes ):
  • Pandamaster142
    Constructive criticism
I still really like this show, but I do hope that constructive criticism can be acknowledged and considered. I love Brent and Travis, and I would like to continue to have Courtney on the show. I like her perspective and her journalistic expertise. However, as several people have said in reviews (some in mean ways, some in a pleading tone), Courtney can come off as a bit too silly and flippant on topics that the other hosts are taking seriously and are trying to remark on. I understand that it is difficult to handle the week-to-week events for these past few years, but my favorite parts of the show are when you all have a well-researched discussion on topics that matter to our society. I think the goofiness can still exist on light-hearted topics, but it feels like a letdown when the discourse is suddenly cutoff with a dismissive remark. We know how hard it is to deal with the news, that’s part of why I listen to this show to help digest it. Finally, I just hope that you all don’t dismiss any review that is negative on Courtney’s part of the show as invalid. Again, I think some are definitely uncalled for and sexist, but not all of them are. I hope for the best for all three of you, and I want to thank you for continuing to make this show.

    Hypocritical and unprofessional
I loved this pod for a long time and I was perfectly happy with Courtney. However, I find it unbearably hypocritical that they add so many trigger warnings, including for drug or alcohol abuse, but start their show talking about the booze they are drinking and often, especially with Courtney, how intoxicated they are. I find it intolerable how much they hold up alcohol as a perfectly acceptable coping mechanism and glorify their usage, then add trigger warnings for the same issue later in the episode. Also, I’m sick of how often they go off topic on repetitive rants. It used to be good but now leans way too far into being angry and drunk. I’m done. Want news with a liberal slant? Do what I did and delete this and subscribe to Pod Save America instead. This has become amateur and offensive with very little actual news.

    Not what I was expecting
I am a listener of multiple other McElroy podcasts, and came to Trends Like These after hearing an ad on a different podcast. The ads made this seem like they lightheartedly discuss current trends, but I was disappointed to find that this was just a group of people complaining loudly in podcast format. Not what I was expecting from a McElroy with a “no bummers” philosophy.
  • Knittinmama
    Multiple Voices
At the start of the episode, it was remarked on how great it was to have all three people present, so I think the intention is for all three people to have equal voices. Something different is happening, with Travis dominating. The show would also benefit from a wider diversity of voices. It feels like this is just intensifying outrage, without adding any nuance or additional context.

    i ADORE Courtney
I love Courtney- she is angry about all the same things I am, and her rage makes me and my fury feel so incredibly validated! Not to mention her rants and monologues help me find the right words to articulate my feelings about these subjects that make me feel like i’m coming undone! I love Brent and Trav but Courtney is fighting our fight. PS: I spit on the grave of anyone who calls Court a misandrist. To be disappointed, disgusted, and infuriated by the minders white man is NOT misandry but sanity. Not to mention if she was a misandrist she wouldn’t have TWO MALE COHOSTS. I absolutely beg of you, please, use ONE critical thinking skill before you post you absolute buffoons.
  • Lorelei Faye
    Glorious
But please stop treating it like a serious news show. That is not what it is, ever has been, or has pretended to be. (Also Courtney is best)
  • Adamwriter
It's good but it has a serious issue to deal with
I'm a big fan of the show, and listen every week. I'll start by saying that contrary to what is usually complained about, I have no issues with Courtney's foul language or anything like that (actually I enjoy that to a degree). She is also very funny, and I have to give her that. However, she needs to take a serious step back and evaluate her misandry. This last episode featured a whole segment about how she is totally "not" a misandrist, and I could barely get through it because it was filled with so much misandry and sexism!! She even decides to assign the qualities she dislikes about Beto to his gender! Imagine if Travis said that Melania Trump's bad behavior was because she was a woman. That would be sexist, and it is still sexist when Courtney says it about men. That is disgusting and unacceptable rhetoric. She constantly assigns bad human behaviors as if they are Male behaviors. She describes how Travis and Brent are "two of the good ones," which can only remind me of people who claim they aren't racist because they "have black friends." It's racist when it is done about race, and it is sexist when it is done about gender. That's all there is to it. She even said in this episode that she obviously doesn't hate men because there are some men that she likes. That is literally the same thing as "I dont hate black people; some of my best friends are black!" Just because Courtney makes exceptions for the men she likes does not prevent her from being sexist, and that that is her best defense should be very telling indeed. This has been a constant problem and it seriously undermines the ability for the show to seem... well, progressive. Sexism is not progressive, whether it's directed at women or at men. It makes me very hesitant to share the show with any of my friends, and I think it makes the show less trustworthy to the people on the fence that we want to be supporting progressive policies when they see this hypocrisy. Courtney even said at one point, and I quote (this was a full sentence, too. It was a serious statement she intended to stand alone. I'm not taking this out of context): "The Male body is a weapon." Can you imagine what it feels like for young boys to be told that their body, their sexuality, is inherently dangerous and weaponized? That to subject anyone to their body is an attack with a weapon? As a left-leaning man, I myself suffered extreme self-image issues for much of my youth because of statements like these throughout my childhood that made me to think that all men, myself included, were predators, and that women would feel attacked if I tried to even consensually share my body with them. That is extremely hurtful and problematic. It harms innocent youths and it provides ammunition to the right-wing and to misogynists. Just IMAGINE if Brent had said "the female body is a weapon." There would be no question that that would be viewed as a reprehensible, sexist statement made out of hate. But when Courtney does the same thing to men, she is given a pass. Courtney even said "I'm never going to feel bad about this." She said she will never feel bad about harming young boys and their self-image. That is disgusting. I understand that Courtney deals with sexism directed at her, but that DOES NOT IN ANY WAY MAKE RETURNING THE SEXISM OKAY. In fact, when you return the sexism, you only strengthen the misogynists by legitimizing a cycle of hatred. It needs to stop. Courtney, you are funny. You're actually probably the funniest show member. You are an asset to the show. But you need to stop letting your hate for men through. Or preferably, just maybe -- you should try to stop hating men for being men? You owe your audience an apology for this hurtful and problematic rhetoric, Courtney.

Love Courtney and Brent’s banter as well as Travis’ goofiness. Appreciate hearing about important stories and fun stories in a digestible way!

Courtney is the whip cream on this frozen coffee
That’s to say, essential and wonderful. I was a listener before, but I really love that she adds such a crucial point of view. Also I love all the swears.
  • Hannah-Moon
Courtney has the voice of a beautiful, vengeful angel.
Courtney Enlow is an angelic goddess who doesn't really hate all men, but is totally entitled to hate them all of she wanted to. Travis and Brent are great, but compared to Courtney are mere mortals. Keep doing what you're doing and don't let the haters keep you down. This is my favorite podcast to unwind at the end of a long week. Love trends like these!
  • Aidan the Warlock
    Very insightful
This show brings together humor and seriousness in a way that is both respectful of the information that they bring across as well as not leaving a feeling of hopelessness that news often does nowadays. Courtney in particular is very relatable, intelligent, and entertaining. If you’re not already a listener, give it a go! 😁👍

    My Problematic Fave
I listen to this show every week and I enjoy the show (for the most part). I’ve started skipping any segments with the hosts arguing or recording when clearly drunk. It improves the experience quite a bit. Look, healthy debate is great and important (especially surrounding politics). But listening to friends yell at each other is not something I will ever choose to do for entertainment. I almost never listen to a full ep with just two of the three hosts; it devolves into arguing and tangents too quickly. This week’s ep was especially jarring and hard to listen to. [Mustin, please cut out huge moments of conflict; they’re way too upsetting to hear while driving.] You should listen to this show if: -you need a brief review of trending headlines in audio format -you appreciate far left opinions or want to learn more about them -you like at least two of the three hosts (but three is ideal because they’re all sweet people) You should not listen to this show if: -alcohol as a coping mechanism bothers you -you can’t stand far left opinions -you’re hella conflict averse like me (here’s looking at you Politics Roundup) -you’re looking for copy that’s been researched by a full team; sometimes they miss something and don’t put out a retraction. Always do your own research.
  • Benjiak
    Great news and opinion podcast
There was a transition period when Courtney became a full time host, but she is an important part of the show and makes it better than it was before. I would recommend that anyone who stopped listening pick this show back up.
  • valkinnie
    Courtney’s the best possible host
I have a lot of love for Travis and Brent, but Courtney’s voice is a necessary addition and, despite the amount of gross negative comments on here, is absolutely lovely. On top of that, the content is well researched and often helps me parse news stories that otherwise would be too confusing for me to get into. It’s definitely helped me become more active in paying attention to what’s going on in politics.
  • justjennitoo
    To political for me.
But I lean to the right, so it makes sense. You guys are entertaining and easy to listen to. Just couldn’t take the content anymore.
  • tubastrea
    Favorite current events podcast
Been a listener for years. I love the format, it is exactly what I am looking for and so informative. I don’t want to hate on Courtney, she’s passionate, I value her opinions and input and what she brings to the show, the f-bombs don’t bother me at all, but her voice! At times it’s so distractingly screechy it literally hurts my ears! Still subscribed, but now I hesitate to hit that play button, and usually don’t get to it till middle of the following week after I listened to everything else. It used to be the show I look forward to play! If my fiancé is with me, he wouldn’t even let me play this because he can’t stand her voice. He refuse to give this show a chance because he can’t get pass the voice. I still love the show enough to continue to listen to it every week, I haven’t found a better alternative, but maybe tone it down just a little for the radio? (I’m sure it wouldn't bother me in person) Don’t let that voice get quite so high that it triggers same response as hearing fingernails on a chalkboard?
