Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) has been called the father of American literature and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, published in 1884, has been called the "Great American Novel". The book is a first person narrative told by the title character, Huckleberry Finn, as he accompanies a runaway slave on his journey to freedom on the Mississippi.

This work is a part of the Lit2Go collection, a collaboration between the Florida Department of Education and the University of South Florida College of Education. Lit2Go is dedicated to supporting literacy teaching and learning by providing access to historically and culturally significant literature in K-12 schools.
