All of the hosts of this show are fantastic, and I sincerely do not understand other’s criticism of Ifeoma Dike. Her presentation and reading are professional and it is a GOOD quality to have a diverse set of presenters and inflections. Love everything about this pod, from the hosts to the top notch reporting.

I love this format, but the word is ASK not axe. I find myself wanting to skip Ifeoma Dike’s episodes. It’s not just that word but so many inflections that are distracting.

I really enjoy and appreciate the efficient and (usually) fair roundup of the news, I listen to news from several sources and CNN usually hits all out at least most of the stories that are immediately relevant. I want to give it five stars, BUT Ifeoma Dike hosts so many of the episodes and she speaks with odd unnecessary pauses in the middle of her sentences which I find completely distracting and hard to listen to.

I am impressed by app’s weekday 5 Things, and weekend 5 Good Things and One Thing programs. 5 Things’ editorial stance is balanced, and the show is delivered with an optimistic tone. On Saturdays, 5 Good Things provides a welcome break from the challenges and threats in the news. And on Sundays, One Thing is thoughtful and respects the listener’s intellect.

I listen to this podcast every morning driving to work. It keeps me entertained and the news coverage is awesome. I also like the new five good things on Saturdays.

I do not understand some people’s criticism of Ifeoma Dike. She’s fine. Better than fine; she’s a very good news presenter.

Ifeoma’s voice is lovely but as other reviewers have noted, her reading needs serious improvement. She places pauses and inflections in odd places and the sentences don’t flow well at all. It’s so distracting that I’m finally unfollowing this show. It’s a shame.

I love this podcast, but I find myself wanting to skip every episode hosted by Ifeoma Dike. Her copy reading is not up to par with a show that is this polished. I wish CNN would find someone else to read for her or that she would get more training to help her sound more professional.

I had stopped listening to 5 Things here and elsewhere because inserting ads part way through a podcast that is LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES long is just insulting and abusive. To be clear, I am fine with ads to support a program, but only within reason. INTERRUPTING such a short one is the epitome of greed, and is basically a big F-U to the audience. CNN could afford to put out a free five minute microcast that only runs once every three hours if it wanted to do so. Limiting ads to the intro and outro cannot possibly have a material impact on its bottom line. Now, this one is falsely promoted as “ad-free” over on Amz Music. For the past two weeks, CNN has been interrupting every episode to play ads on its supposedly ad-free feed over there. I had only begun listening at Amz because it came without the obnoxious interruption. There are PLENTY of other micro newscasts out there that have figured out ways to support their programs without inserting ads right into the middle of their extremely short podcasts. And several others honor the ad-free format at Amz Music, including NPR, WaPo, Slate, and even Fox and WSJ. So I will, once again, dump CNN. 👎🏻

In this time of my life, I’m approaching 70 and I’m legally blind, I, don’t care to be saturated with the news. To be overwhelmed by it. To be given too much information, and not being able to see limits what I could glean from a television screen. I trust CNN. I like the encapsulation. In less than six minutes four or five times a day I can get what I need to know to be engaged and not terrified. I have friends who keeps a news on all day long on television and yes, it’s tune to CNN but too much is just that: too much. This is just enough. I listen to it at 6 AM, 9 AM noon 5 and 10 PM, and that’s perfect. That amounts to about 25 minutes of news today. Thanks CNN for doing a great job.

I’ve listened to this podcast for a while. It is decent but my main issue is the podcast will pick one ad and replay it for every episode on repeat for weeks on end. With several episodes it gets mind numbingly annoying hearing the “Doctor Downtime” commercial.

You are stenographers for “high ranking officials” in the IDF.

They give outstanding daily updates several important times daily. They go in deep on Sunday mornings on important subjects. And they go into extra detail when it is necessary. I give them a 10 plus rating. Add them to your library. Casey

I’m hoping to catch the attention of someone in production of this podcast. Great news coverage but it’s hard to listen to because the background music is annoying. The synthetic, repetitive, pulsating sound is distracting from listening to the newscaster and actually makes me feel anxious. I’m going back to listening to NPR’s Up First.

I will no longer be listening to CNN. Your biased coverage of President Biden has hit an all time low. Why not report and keep count of every public official or past President who makes false claims? Seriously? Why not report on the position accomplishments of the Biden administration. Desperate and not a good look, 5 Things.

Great podcast with good information, but if I have to listen to The Assignment’s advertisement in every single episode (I listen to a few in a row to catch up) it makes me want to scream.

Given everything happening in the world, how can the Trump indictment and climate change stories be in the “top 5 things you need to know” every freaking day!?!? CNN used to be objective news, but today it is clearly pushing a left wing agenda. As a moderate, I find it really annoying.

I start my day with 5 things! My go to for succinct, simple and trustworthy news. I end my hour commute day with this podcast as well! Reliable and informative!

I cannot support an entity that provides an avenue with which a criminal espouses anti-democratic and anti-American principles. I will no longer subscribe to any CNN vehicle, and will encourage the same for all family members, extended family members and all friends.

shame, Shame, SHAME on cnn for giving that stupid violent liar trump a sole platform to spew more and more lies and continue to defame ms. carroll. U are done. U have lost all credibility in the world of journalism. U are the new Fox network.

With only 4 1/2 minutes they should avoid repeating the same story several updates in a row. Also the extra info they keep repeating is annoying such as telling us the “payments to a porn star are not against the law”. I probably heard that 10 times. Also, they need to make sure their hosts know how the pronounce the word “Ask” and not “Axe”

My only suggestion is to eliminate the background “music”. It’s unnecessary and distracting

This podcast is tainted by negative, prejudiced slant against Democrats. A skewed review of the SOTU is the last straw for me. Also some presenters have bad word usage: “aks” instead of “ask” and “verse” instead of “versus.”

Time to invest in this podcast: find a new host, find some producers. CNN can do better than this.

I enjoy the length and abridged-ness of the podcast. Easy to deep dive if I want more info. I listen daily

I quit listening to CNN 5 Things because if you’re a little behind on live sports they spoil the outcome with zero warning. I thought I was safe listening to the morning edition from before today’s World Cup match even began; not so! The episode audio was updated after to spoil the result, while the written episode description says the event will occur in the future. Podcasts aren’t live news. Post spoiler alerts CNN! Some of us have jobs.

I follow Five Things, and notice that I get Monday’s episode on Tuesday, Tuesday’s on Wednesday, and so on. Also seems that plenty of the ‘news’ on each episode is a repeat of some of the previous episode.

I was getting five things in my email and I would read that every morning. When the podcast came out I loved it because I can listen to my News. Why I like it so much is because it’s five minutes or less and I like that it’s done several times throughout the day great awesome wonderful. I now listen on Amazon prime with no ads

I enjoy listening while I’m washing dishes or doing laundry. Helps to keep me informed.

I listened to this morning’s episode (Saturday, Dec 3) expecting to hear something about Twitter exposing emails this morning, since everything else about Twitter has been highlighted since Elon Musk bought it (and prior to him buying it). Today, when major news had broken on Twitter? Nothing. I thought this was unbiased, but I’m afraid this podcast too is hiding truths.

Love the daily recap but would appreciate if it could be s l o w e d down a bit. I often have to replay CNN’s 5 Things You need to Know because I am not sure what they are as I only caught 2.5. ;-)
