    Great insight into local politics
I’m so happy that I found a podcast specifically focusing on politics in Boston! I love what I’m learning so far. Great interviews - thank you for producing this content!

    High-minded, earnest, relevant!
I’ve been a Scrum listener for years (and three-time guest). I really like the guys who do the show, and that it is both a serious political podcast, but isn’t stuffy or boring. (But let me say I think stuffy and boring people would really respect the work.) I also like their background music a lot. I kind of want that as a ringtone.

    Essential listening
The Scrum covers all things #mapoli. You can’t claim to be up on the news until you’ve heard it!

Mass legislature, look behind the curtain!
Mike Deehan’s 3 January episode brings clarity to the way legislation moves, or not, through the State House. It may not be unusual compared to other State Houses, but that doesn’t mean we should put up with it. Too much power over legislation lies in the hands of the Speaker, this needs to change as the system is ripe for corruption. The euphemism “they ran out of time” is maddening.

    Great Podcast
This is a great podcast to keep on top of what is going on here in Boston. They cover all the big issues and it doesn't hurt that many of them are former Boston Phoenix reporters. Adam is a polished interviewer and Peter always brings an interesting perspective.

    Great for local news
I've been looking for a good local news podcast, but most of them are daily programs that don't fit into my schedule well. I came across this show recently and it's exactly what I was looking for. The hosts are very down to earth and often consider both sides of an argument, which is really refreshing. Depending on where you live, a possible con is that it is very focused on Boston. I live closer to Worcester and I wish they covered the suburbs a bit more (but it is after all WGBH, I get it). Highly recommended.

    Volume!
Your podcast volume is low and garbled, even on the highest level on both my laptop and phone...if you want us to listen, please give us a clear, louder podcast!

    A favorite
Insightful, entertaining look at politics and media by professionals who take both seriously but can maintain a sense of humor. A must-listen for Massachusetts political junkies, a bonus for national followers. Highly recommend. Well produced.

    Earnest, Unpretentious Political Talk
I like "The Scrum” and I happen to know the people that make it. My favorite thing about the show is that it’s a political talk show by political journalists who consider themselves journalists before political pros. There is no pretense here, but a sincere attempt to discuss things that matter in Massachusetts politics. It’s not politically neutral, but these are Democrats on good behavior who are genuinely fair. (For instance, they sometimes talk about Charlie Baker, and his Republican identity is treated with respect - e.g. he is never asked to disown what other, less serious Republicans are saying outside of MA. Also, when they do talk about the Senator Cruzes of the party, they avoid the cheap shots that wouldn’t serve the audience anyway.) Also, the show isn’t just a survey of the issues on the cover of the Boston Globe; they are also interested in doing shows that get into a topic that matters in the long term. Lastly, I don’t think the show has reached it’s full potential yet, but I like the direction they are going in. They have solid production values, and have made very good use of their guests. Their recent interview of Governor Baker was outstanding, and a sign that this could one-day be the best audio source in Massachusetts politics.

Uniquely awesome. Just one complaint ...
The Scrum is really pretty remarkable. - It's some of the best insights around on politics and news in Mass and Boston. I'm not sure why it seems like this bunch sees and says things no one else does, I don't know what's holding everyone else back. But there it is. - It's entertaining and fun. They are clearly having fun doing the show, and they are funny. So the complaint (sort of)? Need more Scrum! While the irregular schedule is sort of charming, the other demands on their time mean there just isn't enough.

    Can’t Get Enough
The Scrum is as Boston as clam chowder, and just as delicious and full of heart. It is informative, penetrating, and easy to listen to. All the stars.

Great start but a couple recommendations
I rely on the scrum as my main source of ma politics, rather than the paper as I have a long car commute. I love it but two suggestions. First, a weekly rundown of ma political headlines including your reactions to each topic. This need not be long, a couple minutes max, more if anything particularly noteworthy. Second, a faster pace to some of the episodes. I like to feel I'm learning something every minute I listen and sometimes I have to remind myself of the main topic of discussion. Overall, the scrum is a great resource for ma politics. The depth of coverage, including interviews, is great. I particularly enjoyed listening to the mayor Walsh interview; it felt honest and unscripted.

    Essential for Politics
The Scrum has quickly has become part of my regular media routine. The hosts and guests provide perspective on the issues of the day with a humor and warmth that can only be described as utterly charming. It's like checking in with friends. The Scrum is essential for anyone in Massachusetts or anyone interested in Massachusetts politics.
