Employee of the Month

125

We spend most of our time working, so what does it take to (mainly) love what you do? How do even the most gifted, talented, intelligent, ambitious, disciplined, imaginative, inventive, and lucky people develop their point of view, find meaning, serve a greater good, deal with work place politics, rejection, finances, boredom, red tape, logistics, and creative roadblocks? What are the perks or enjoyable about forging your own path? Catie Lazarus and her guests delve into beauty, banality and absurdity of work, jobs, and labor.

Packed with insights I didn’t know that I needed to hear
This is one of the podcasts that is making stay-at home projects possible. Great interviews with people who I wouldn’t have otherwise gone through the trouble of hearing from

    Funny and Profound
Catie takes a deceptively light-hearted approach with her guests--these interviews are fun, and funny, until they unexpectedly and poignantly reveal little gems of wisdom from both interviewer and interviewee. Catie finds uniformly interesting people to talk to, and exposes sides of well-known personalites you didn't realize were there. A great, unique approach makes this well worth adding to your podcast rotation!!

I love live shows, this one is no different. Great quality, great guests, great host!

    Must hear podcast
I can't say enough about this show. The guests are fantastic and clearly comfortable talking to Ms. Lazarus, who knows how to ask smart, funny, and insightful questions. If Terry Gross and Gilda Radner had a love child it would be Catie Lazarus. Living in Boston, I have yet to hear one of her shows live in Boston so I'm grateful for this podcast. The Josh Charles and Patti Lupone interviews are really something special.

New favorite of a podcast binger
Katie is a GREAT interviewer. She's able to connect with people from so many backgrounds and disciplines. The show is funny, thoughtful, and interesting. I am quick to give up on podcasts that don't hold my attention or that I don't learn from, but since discovering this one I have gone back and downloaded almost every episode. Can't say enough good things about it!

    Excellence In Style & Creativity
Catie Lazarus is bold, fearless and so much fun to listen to. She asks question like a really smart kid - in that she asks questions that would make most people blush, and yet the questions just jump out of her. Her guests are really interesting. Not always the same old people that everyone interviews, but rather interesting people that are somewhat famous, but so deeply passionate about what they do. I listen religiously and want to thank Catie for coming to work every week.

    A Must Listen
This is a great podcast. Catie Lazarus does a brilliant job. She curates a mix of very interesting guests and deftly brings out their most interesting, insightful and funny stories about careers and the world of work. If you like listening to intelligent, amusing and engaging things, check this out. If not, I hear Rush Limbaugh has a show.

    Brilliant host/brilliant show!
Catie Lazarus' Employee of the Month show is funny, touching and altogether brilliant. She is an amazing interviewer and elicits great stories from her guests all the while being verrrrry funny. I know of no one else with her combination of brains, beauty and humor. Catie and her show is always pitch-perfect!

    Great imformative fun!
I just listened to the interview with Rachel Maddow (love her!) and am now a Catie / Employee of the Month fan. Not only did I find Catie to be a funny host, but she also surprised me with some of the questions that she asked. I'm a new subscriber....

    best talk show ever
Catie is not only funny, but incredible insightful and intelligent. She does an amazing job bringing out her subjects, and the live show is always hilarious (props to the band and the funny extras at the end, plus videos....). This podcast is addictive.

Catie Lazarus has an amazing ability to grab the attention of the audience with interviews that are both silly and insightful - intelligent and funny - She has a huge range of interesting hosts with amazing life experience and she has a talent for finding the quirky and deeper things we have in common.

    Hottie Lazarus
This girl needs her own tv show. She's our generations Joan Rivers/Dick Cavet!

    Awesome, Officially
This podcast wraps so much useful information in a yummy coating of funny that it was named a recipient of the Awesome Without Borders micro-genius grant. So Catie is officially Awesome.

Fun show often about important stuff
Great and varied guests, and a fun interviewer. One of my favorite podcasts!

    Catie Lazarus is Wicked Smaaht
I love the Employee of the Month Show. Catie Lazarus is hilarious and articulate, and has a knack for drawing uncomfortable stories out of semi-celebrities. Not only is this podcast informational and fun, but it leaves listeners with mental fodder long after the show ends.
  • Freydasays
    Must Listen!
Catie has the amazing ability to draw out guests and get answers to the hard-to-ask and often serious questions that we all want to know, all while keeping the show FUNNY. Employee of the Month is the best of talk show meets the best of comedy.

Employee of the Month - yes yes yes
EofM is one of the sharpest, and most reliably insightful AND funny shows it's been my pleasure to be addicted to. Catie's witty repartee with her guests (and HOW THE HECK does she get these amazing guests!?!) keeps everyone on their toes, and my ribs have actually ached a few times from laughing. I catch the show live when I can, and am doing some binge-listening on iTunes. A splendid time!

    Even better than Obama
In 2012, I visited my sons in DC and NYC for the holidays, and got to see Obama pardon the turkey in the Rose Garden, tour the West Wing, watch Book of Mormon on Broadway, and attend Catie’s show with Gloria Steinem and Rachel Maddow. Catie’s show was the highlight of my trip. It wasn’t just getting to see two of my heroes up close and personal, it was Catie’s ability to mesh hilarious wit with substantive questions about her guests’ professional and life experiences. Catie's awesome!
  • Jessica Gross
    Love EOTM
Fantastic podcast. Catie manages a balance between humor (sometimes at her interviewee's expense, but gently!) and empathic listening.

    The best
One of my top go-to podcasts. Catie Lazarus is hilarious and her guests are fascinating.
  • KatLaz
    I heart Catie Lazarus
This has been cathartic as I search for the perfect dreamy job. She’s funny and honest and so much classier than most interviewers. I feel like she’s like Oprah, except Jewy.
  • CharlsAv
    Still loving this
Get her a TV show because I saw the live show and thought it was good enough to watch, not that the podcast doesn't. Just that she's funny enough.
  • SpiderTrevor
    Best Podcast on Jobs
I have learned so much more from Catie's candid interviews. She asks questions nobody else asks and people open up as a result. The live tapings are really sweet. But the recorded ones are more in-depth. Subscribe.

    So many amazing comedy greats!
This podcast is jam packed with so many great guests. Highly recommended. Love it.

I have seen almost every one of these live and they are so inspiring, thought-provoking and hilarious. So glad we can download them to listen to the ones I missed! The host - Catie? - does amazing research, asks insightful, provocative questions and balances humor and depth always. Thanks so much for posting!

I Dig Employee of the Month
Love this show. If you can check out a live show do. I like the new band even more than the old one, but that's just my opinion. The host Catie Lazarus is super funny.
