mister BAnother one bites the dustThis new version of Who Won The Week is dreadful. It’s too bad because this show was a solid geek podcast with interesting if sometimes maddening people having conversations worth listening to, but like other geek casts before it the host gave up on it. Sad. RIP WWTW.

AbimusprimeChange it back!I listen to many genres of podcasts and this use to be my favorite. Only once a week and an hour long so not a huge commitment. It also had hosts who felt like they were actually apart of geek culture and were great at articulating their thoughts and opinions. Since the podcast has relaunched with a new format and host it is almost impossible to listen to now.

Nala2winI used to enjoy this showI used to really like this podcast, but the recent change in format and hosts has ruined this podcast for me. I don’t like how interview heavy the recent shows have been, and I keep checking the new episodes hoping that the original hosts have come back but I continue to be disappointed.

StangStar06'I’m out!!!When the new hosts started, I didn’t really like the changes. I told myself to hive it some time. I did ... I gave it time. And now I HATE it.

jni1973What Happened??I used to look forward to this podcast every week. I’m not sure what happened to the first cast but I am not a fan of the new format. I agree with the other reviewer if it’s not broke don’t fix it . I’ll be back if you guys bring back the original cast, until then I’m done.

Skorpio96Change for Change SakeUpdated 5/11/20: After having been off air for the past 2 months, this podcast show returned on 5/1 with new episodes, new hosts, a new format, and ZERO points of handoff or explanation. I truly don’t know where the former hosts went or what happened? Was it Covid related? Who are these new hosts and why are they qualified to speak geek? The revised format wasn’t explained and appears to be heavy on interviews rather than just open discussion of current news topics. I know the fandom scene is impacted with a Covid changes, but this new show is feeling flat and makes me rethink my original review that was so harsh below. You don’t appreciate what you have until it’s gone... ORIG POST 9/29/19: This show has the potential to be exceptional with the media power of NBC/Universal branded to it. However, the hosts far too often dwell on the negative components of fandom and inject their own personal politics into the discussions. Sometimes sci-fi is just fun escapist entertainment. Too often themes of social justice are forced into the podcast. When they stay on topic this is a great show. Plus one of the 3 main hosts always seems to be absent so they rarely ever have a 3 person panel as advertised.

motown vanGood bye DanyI have listen to every episode of the podcast I believe I started with the 5 one and went back to hear everyone before it. I have never written a review but I am going to miss Danny with one ‘N’ . I always look forward to hearing it every week. I come back to finish the episode if it has spoilers. Still going listen to everyone else keep up the great work. I also refer to your insights when taking with friends. Thanks

diegogon43The bestKarama, Dany and Adam bring the best in genre new each week. This is a must listen every Friday

Luke Cage JrGreat show for NerdsThis is one of the better geek podcasts covering all the things I love. It’s fun to hear intelligent people discuss geek topics thoughtfully each week. My only criticism would be the “what won my week” segment to begin each podcast.( It’s devolved into a 30 min stand-up routine to kick off each episode; using the same joke). Other than that, It’s a must listen.

LeesalkinFirst timeAlthough my lovely wife loves you guys, the march 1 episode was the first one I listened to it it’s entirety. You guys are awesome! I might’ve missed us because, like I said, this is my first time, any thoughts on the on umbrella academy on Netflix.?

Sonofspam1972Great podcast sometimes a little too SJWI really like this podcast that covers a wife range of nerd/geek topics and believe me I'm just as liberal as the next guy, but i feel like sometimes the show spends too much time discussing wither something is diverse enough or it devolves into too much political stuff that drives the show off topic.

HorribellaGood Info, But ....If you’re looking for top things that people are geeking and some good info- this should work for you. The beginnings give some personal geeking from the three hosts, which allows for some info on some of the geeky things lurking on the edge of the geekospherre. However, for me, it slides downhill from there. I would expect a podcast on who won the week would have more enthusiasm about things that you know... Won The Week. This podcast tends to focus on the bad aspect of most things. After listening for about five weeks, it just seems that the main host doesn’t really like the areas that the podcast covers. It’s easy to dislike things and pick them apart- but it’s harder to like it. Too often the podcast just follows the easy path. If you like thoughtful criticism of pros and cons, there isn’t a lot. If you want more of a beatdown on topics - this’ll win the week for you.

Derek93766290Faux intellectual commentary. An imitation of deep insightful thought, yet at the end very shallow analysis.

hovernearfameWinning the week!I truly enjoy this podcast. A weekly geek review of sorts. Thoughtful and entertaining, Aaron & Dany do a great job not only on our weekly pop culture & nerd news but takes on more important topics in nerdland and beyond!

Spacehistorian3/31 Ep on Ghost in the ShellI went to see Ghost in the Shell w/o knowing about the manga or animated orgin material. I try to avoid reading about a film before I see it. I did catch the headlines about the Whitewashing issue but I didn;t read up on it until after seeing the movie. I think ScarJo did one heck of a job of making the role of Major her own. She is underrated as an actress and apparently is getting heavy criticism for taking the role of Major which many people felt should have gone to an Asian actress. Since I didn't have that baggage, I judged the movie based on what I saw on the screen. ScarJo sold me on her feelings of being disconnected from humanity and her physicality was robotic in the sense that she didn;t move with the fluid grace of a flesh & blood person. Her performance reminded me of Data on TNG in some ways. It was an interesting choice to make to differentiate herself from her human co-workers and other human characters in the film. I also got the 5th Element/Blade Runner/Matrix vibe off of this film. I can see how humanity will eagerly embrace technological upgrades to better themselves. I know I would gladly get tech to upgrade my physical and mental abilities. We see the difference between the wealthy getting the top quality tech and the poor relying on making deals on the streets, alleys and dark buildings for questionable tech. So the question that runs through the film is what does it mean to be human? I think the most chilling moment in the film came when The Major tells Dr. Ouelet that she does not give her consent to the procedure. Dr. Ouelet tells her that they never needed her consent. An excellent example of the power of corporations/state to violate our civil liberties in pursuit of their goals. I think it is a positive move for Hollywood to release a major Sci-Fi motion picture with a strong female lead. In a more perfect world, obviously the role would have gone to an Asian actress. Progress takes time and Hollywood is conservative in these areas. Also, the criticism of Batou in the club's bathroom comes from how you interpret the scene. I didn't get the feeling that Batou was having a Transphobic moment with his reation to the tall Geisha man using the urinal next to him. Batou was anxiously awaiting the opportunity to get his gun slipped through the window from Ladriya. To me, that look was more "Aren't you finished yet?" rather than "OMG! That Geisha has a penis!" He needed the weapon so he could get into position to backup The Major during the op. Clearly, Batou had a deep affection for The Major. I'd grade Ghost in the Machine at B+. That's the perspective of a middle-age White guy. Your mileage and perspective may vary.

Harpo MarxistBlastr wins all of the weeksWho Won The Week is must listen for any and all types of nerds, geeks, and fans of genre content. They cover a wide range of topics and go into more depth than most nerd-centric podcasts. It is incredibly rare to get a podcast that casts such a wide net on topics yet still retains a strong degree of focus. The rotating panel of hosts all bring something to the table, and they have incredible guests. The shows are consistently fun, brisk, and informative. Who Won The Week is an essential component of a healthy podcast diet!

LilahpBlastr Star Trek episodeLoved this! So insightful. Thank you for your careful, respectful, and considered reflection. I can tell that you all put a lot of work into this podcast. This was your best episode yet. I really appreciate it. Very entertaining and highly recommended!

Jeditwins22Great PodcastThey do a great job talking about things geek and bringing important issues in our society that are and are not reflected in the genre, like equality for women, other ethnicities and sexual orientation representation. The only problem is sometimes it is hard to hear all the people on the cast, it seems they are far from the mic.

BethsteelZGeektastic! In the latest episode l loved the flow of conversation between the three guys! Really enjoyed the Supergirl analysis and hope that Krypto does emerge from the capsule.

PonFarrOutGraveyard shift & blastrAlready a fan of the site but recently began working overnights at a hospital and I go from down time to crazy time. Been listening for a few weeks and the show hit a high watermark worth mentioning with this week with Supergirl and Warcraft and Game Of Thrones. These guys are nerds but they grew up a lot on this cast this week, and finally figured out you can be be clever without being jerks, balanced without always agreeing AND can be questioning without being haters beofre a movie is even out. AND YESS TO WARCRAFT!!! Haha sorry, big time player and agree with Adam here. And thanks for not raising my blood pressure on my downtime when chilling is important. Great stride you hit here dudes.

His lil ZoeBlastr better now!Been Listening to this podcast off and on, and this one is sooooo much better than previous ones. Really into this Episode 22. The 3 guys seem to like each other a lot and without talking crap about something, and can disagree and be skeptical without talking crap about it. Stopped listening after BatmanvsSuperman, too much negativity from one person. But totally back into it now! Mr Sagers is my fave!

ash0283Get your geek onIf you're looking for a quick hitting, snarky but fantastic weekly wrap up show on all things geek and nerdy, then look no further. Aaron Sagers hits it out of the park with this amazing podcast. I love listening to his take on the weekly geek, and feel like he's really got his finger on the pulse (sometimes two pulses in the case of Doctor who <3 <3) Check it out. Subscribe and listen ASAP! I'm so excited for the next one to come out already!

Fourgiven93Worst of the worstLooking for another podcast fanboy bashing of everything nerdy, then you found your podcast. After 4 episodes I couldn't find a single opinion on this show I agree with. Which is ok because I disagree with some of the better podcasts I listen to, but this one makes no good arguments as to why I should see things how they do. Just bad. Win the week and go find another podcast.

FranklinTappyWho won the week? Blastr did.<3 this podcast. It’s become an integral part of my Saturday morning ritual. Coffee, croissant, and nerdy goodness. It’s a blast(r) listening to the team review, inform, and debate. The only negative is the constant interruptions from the female host.
-
DeaditeAshBlastr winning the week!Great new podcast, Blastr! I dig the premise, and I love listening to people nerd out in a way that gets me excited for all of the new and fun things coming out. As a female, I love having women represented on podcasts and programs like this, but Cher isn't a great example for us. She spends a lot of time talking about how hot actors are, instead of learning more about things she's not as educated on, & interrupts a lot. Ciera and Jill both really knew what they were talking about, and seemed to be enjoying themselves! Keep up the great stuff, Blastr!
