Discover real-life horror stories, from bizarre crimes to paranormal activity. These true stories are set inside the fictional world of Radio Rental, an 80’s video rental store run by an eccentric shopkeeper, Terry Carnation (Rainn Wilson). This imaginative, cult classic-inspired horror brand blurs the lines of reality, with cutting-edge documentary storytelling and a splash of comedy. From the mind of Payne Lindsey, this is Radio Rental.

Even with sub, no early access
Currently have the monthly subscription to Tenderfoot+ simply for this podcast. Came on today to listen to the new episode and it’s saying I need to subscribe. I think maybe my subscription didn’t renew, so I check, it shows my subscription is good until it renews December 5th. Try listening to the new episode again. Says same thing, that I need a subscription. So I try to upgrade to the yearly. Says it’ll upgrade after my monthly ends December 5th. STILL says I need a subscription when I try to play, EVEN THOUGH I ALREADY HAVE A SUBSCRIPTION.

    Too bad
Radio rental has devolved into “the hypothetical situation I created in my mind was horrible!, but absolutely nothing DID, in fact, happen”. Sounds like a lot of overly sheltered early 20s kids. 330 million Americans and you can’t find ONE that has an actual creepy story? Go back to the drawing board, earlier seasons rocked. I love Terry always thou!

    Good
Look, nothing will ever top Season 1 with the woman posing as a girl in the woods. But, these stories can be spooky, disturbing and uncanny. PS- mocking the complainers for the 2 stories on Reddit. CLASSIC!!

Best horror podcast on the interwebs
The stories are spooky. Terry Carnation is a world class presenter. “Shut your pie-hole, Annabelle” is my current favorite phrase. Listen if you like all things weird and spooky.

    Love this
Real life -creepy-storytelling with a side of Terry thrown in to add some “razzle dazzle”.

    Identity Crisis
This show is 80% ads, no exaggeration. What used to be a supernatural podcast is now true crime or something that turns out to be a misunderstanding. Sound effects and background music are too loud and poorly executed.

I listen to one of the newer episodes…. That got me hooked and now I am currently powering through start til finish!

    Not Feeling Anymore Chills
Radio Rental started off strong with its earlier seasons. This season hasn’t raised any spine-tingling sensations. A lot of the stories aren’t that scary. Please go back to the essence of Radio Rental. Rattled and Shooked has been winning in this department.

    So good!!!
The stories are eerie and extremely well-narrated. I have a giant crush on Terry Carnation.

I look forward to these stories every week! Terry is the best host, always making me laugh!

Not what it used to be
I used to love this show and looked forward to Terry Carnation and his creepy stories each week. But lately a majority of the stories are just vulnerable women being threatened or attacked by men. I’m echoing another review that if you can’t find interesting, spooky stories like the ones from the first seasons it’s ok to end it.

Alexa- CANCEL- don’t call the police!
Everyone listening to episode 71- just had to cancel a call to the police! 🤣🤣🤣 Great episode as always!!!

I found this podcast a bit later, but I am SO GLAD that I did. It is my favorite ever! Terry Carnation is the best character, the 80s/90s retro vibe is the coolest, and the stories are a great mashup of supernatural and just plain scary real life monsters. MORE PLEASE! Rainn is a genius.

    The Black Rooster
Had a similar experience when my brother passed. Interesting reviews about it and how it’s dumb and campy, yada yada. If you’ve never experienced a wild experience like that, you won’t get it, but these stories are here for spooks and perspective shifts. The listener has to be open to it, though. Always love these episodes. Fantastic stories. Love Rattled and Shook, too, in case you haven’t listened!

I always listen to this show first. It’s my favorite show. I love listening to Terrie’s antics.

    Can’t suspend disbelief
I know these stories are all lies, but some of these people are just plagiarizing Stephen King short stories.

    MY FAV PODCAST JUST LISTEN!!!!
I love Terry!!! I think maybe I listen because of him… But the stories are good I just wish the episodes were longer!!! Also thanks Terry for talking about Día de Los Muertos!!!! This Mexican appreciates it!!!!❤️❤️❤️

    Love terry, hate the stories
Mr. Carnation is amazing as always. But honestly the stories have gotten too dumb to even enjoy on a campy level. A ladies chicken dies and it’s somehow a mystery that relates to her sick brother? lol stop it already. The earlier episodes were great. Jumped the shark. Time for something new Terry!
  • SonofLars86
One third of a good show
Two stars for whoever does the soundtrack. But so many of their stories are hugely suspect and the narrators say some nonsense like “I’m very skeptical…but heres some crazy conclusion I have made based on a premise I would only believe if I were highly susceptible to supernatural beliefs”. Or super paranoid. And then one third are pretty good stories.
  • Skweegene
    Season 1, great.
If you can’t find good real stories, just end it. I can’t recommend this to anyone anymore. Just embarrassing.
  • Cassendyy
    Repeat stories from other podcast
I love the stories but I wish you wouldn’t repeat stories on rattled and shook.
  • AlicaJolie
    Good stories, please replace Terry
The stories are good. I’ve been listening since the beginning and I love them! Could use a few more unexplained creepy ones that are just more creative. I don’t think criminals breaking in a house or a stalker really live up to what these stories are supposed to be. I personally cannot stand Terry as the host. Payne Lindsey was better. Terry is super crude and swears a lot—I actually hate listening to him. I’d love a classier host.

It’s changed - more ads and less stories
I have listened to this podcast for years. It has definitely changed. We used to get 3 pretty creepy stories and very minimal ads; now, we get 2 stories and tons of ads, yet the episode lengths have always been the same. I’m sure I’ll keep listening, but it’s been pretty frustrating as of recently noticing that trend. It’s not a go-to podcast anymore, even though everything except the ads are fantastic.
  • cjsop123
    Good with some reservations
This is a good show. Terry’s segments are fun and the stories are usually great. I don’t care for the stories in which someone talks about their personal beliefs in ghosts or psychics, stuff like that. Those people are biased storytellers and probably a little crazy. I also think some of the stories are starting to stretch credibility. Maybe we’re running out of real stuff.

    Hit or Miss
Some stories are great, some horrible. My main gripe is the lack of scheduled content if you’re not a paid subscriber. I’ve gone back and forth with having my phone download new ones, as a lot of the time they’re just kind of duds. Love the concept of the show, however.
  • Only1Gunt
    Yall leave Terry alone!
I recently started listening to this podcast. I don’t see what the issue is with Terrys interludes. I find it creative and entertaining. And no one likes ads but if you truly support him then you understand that’s how he gets revenue. Now I will agree some of the stories can seem a bit obviously fake. However, great job!
  • YoullThankMeLater
Why do I always listen before bedtime?!?
The power of Mordecai compels me. pdddddmrrrow. A lot of reviews complain about ads. I’m not sure if Radio Rental has more than the average podcast, but it seems like they do because they’re combined with Terry’s commentary segments. I like the comedy relief, but still feel like the podcast is anemic of content. There’s 20 minutes of actual storytelling in a 45 minute show. (Minus one star for that). As for the complaints saying there’s not enough true stories. I don’t see a huge difference between “real” experience and creepy pastas because people exaggerate and forget and fill in the blanks, or even straight up lie. There are very few truly honest, accurate accounts of supernatural events. As long as the story is entertaining, who cares? And I’d rather listen to a good quality recording of a voice actor than than some rando talking on speaker phone while they do dishes while holding a crying baby. Most people are not that well spoken or articulate. If that’s the kind of content you want, go listen to Jim Harold’s Campfire.
  • stottstott
    Needs more actual content
I used to like Terry’s interludes because they were simple, quick, and witty. Maybe he struggled with a tape or had a quick frustration with his cat. He was sharper when working within the limitations of an odd video store owner with a cat. But his story has since gone off the rails and Terry meanders with a lot of filler that eats up a ton of time…which might be the goal because the stories aren’t that great anymore. If I could make a suggestion, it would be to strip the fat and keep it simple. There doesn’t need to be a whole story/character arc progressing with Terry between the tapes. A more contained Terry, less ads, and better screening of the stories would bring this series back.
  • DharmaScientist
    No more terry
Terry rambles, that’s what it should be called. The stories are decent but I wish they would chill on the ads and maybe send Terry on vacation for a while.
  • SusanDelgato
    Terry, You’re Too Trusting
I’m still giving a high rating as to not mess up the algorithm, but the last few episodes are obviously fake. I’m looking at you episode 70 in particular. I know must be hard to maintain quality content, but please don’t continue to let people read their Creepy Pasta stories out loud. Thank you, love you!
  • kjm09d
    Season 1 was great
The first season was so good but now the stories are boring, the writing is repetitive and drawn out, and the episodes are mostly ads now. Please go back to actual scary/creepy pasta-like stories!
  • airbudone
    Meh
    SO many ads.
  • Lyssa322
    Minimal Content
Theme across all Tenderfoot shows. Heavy on the ads, short on content. Majority of episodes are ads, followed by Terrys ramblings, and then maybe a scary story or two.
  • Spaulding67
    Not good
How about putting a title on each episode instead of just a number? Too much work I guess.
  • ***lady****
    Love listening but…
I agree with most reviews Season 1 and 2 were amazing! My personal opinion is the stories are still good (not as good) and I can deal with Terry and the ads but I can no longer play new episodes. It starts to play then stops. I have friends with the same issue so it’s not a user error or phone problem. Kinda feels like a ploy to get you to pay for Tenderfoot which is disappointing.
  • Wereed43
    Used to be good
Check out the really old episodes if you want something interesting. Now the show is mostly ads or Terry rambling. For example, the most recent episode took 7 minutes to finally get to the story. The stories are also not even interesting. One recent story was about a guy that ALMOST got attacked by a shark. **YAWN**
  • AG!FF
    STALE
The first two seasons : *Chef’s Kiss* …now the stories are just misunderstandings or soup-to-nuts *literally nothing*…. We all know there’s got to be stories out there for people to share— where’s the disconnect??? All-in-all this podcast has been disappointing for a few years now. What’s the point of having short seasons if you’re not spending that time finding GREAT stories that are worth the wait??? No thanks. Do better- we all know you can.
  • 412ML
    What happened to this podcast?
First 2 seasons were great. After that it is boring and the stories are not even interesting. They used to be stories of a paranormal nature - creepy and/or mysterious. I couldn’t wait until another one came out! Now it’s just like…. “a weird guy looked at me omg I could have died” Also…Terry is annoying.
  • InMyOpinionMinion
    The BEST!
Still my absolute favorite podcast of all time. I will never miss an episode!
  • Sunshine Moonshine
What happened?? Not good anymore 👎
Very very little storytelling. The majority of the podcast is Terry blathering on and also an obscene amount of ads. The last 5-6 minutes is just some lady reading all the credits. Two stories only a few minutes long each and they’re dumb. What happened???? This used to be so good.

One of my favorite podcast. Wish we had more episodes!

    What happened?
This podcast used to be my favorite. What happened to skin walkers and ghosts and weird stuff. This season are the lamest stories. Not scary or creepy at all. I thought with all the months off you guys were gathering good interviews. It’s a shame. Hopefully you’re saving the best for the last this October.
  • Predsfan615govols
    Lame
I used to look forward to this pod. Now more than half of each ep is ads and talking leading into the stories themselves. The stories come off as lazy now. They take plenty of time off where they can create something worthwhile, but they don’t. Wasted potential :(
  • neishaalyce
    Can’t get enough
I absolutely love Radio Rental!!! Never gets old! All the stories are great, and I got sad when I realized I was all caught up! More radio rental !!!
  • Shannanigans13
Listen to see if it will get better…
Agree with most of the reviews. Been listening since Season 1 and the stories just have gone down hill. A lot of build up to no outcome. They let someone tell a story about knocking on a window for 20 minutes and that was it. If you are doing this show in seasons, at least let the content reflect the effort of the time off.
