The Way We Live Now

233

“The Way We Live Now” is a new daily show hosted by Dani Shapiro, in which she has a searching, intimate conversation with an assortment of guests from every walk of life and corner of the globe. How do we live now, when we’re all isolated in our own homes? We can’t gather. We can’t hold each other close. We can’t break bread. Whether we’re alone or with our families, our routines have been upended. What’s that like? We’re longing for connection, and to know how it is inside each other’s lives. Dani will speak with a NYC nurse, a senator, a teacher, a movie star, a chef with a small restaurant who cooks take-out each day, a college student who won’t wear a cap and gown, a high school student stuck at home with her parents, a patient undergoing cancer treatment, a postmistress, a university president, a rabbi, a minister, a yoga teacher, a meditation expert, and so many more. Every one of us is navigating our lives in our own way, and a rich tapestry of voices will be a comfort and a source of connection, in just fifteen minutes a day.

    Anna
Most stories are good. Anna is self centered about her dumb book. Glad it was delayed; just go away. The world has too many of these self serving elites.

    You have an option
If you don’t wish to listen to more podcasts about how people are handling the pandemic, just don’t press “play.” For many of us, these are instructive and motivating.

Don’t tell me how we’re living now. You’re actually not smarter than your audience.

    Please return to Family Secrets
Please, no more podcasts on how people are dealing with the pandemic. Enough. I look forward to new episodes of Family Secrets.

    Anne
I listen to both podcast and love them both. I’m grateful for The Way We Live”. I find my situation, fear, Hope, gratitude, exhaustion or random thinking in each. However Anne? WOW!!!! She in my opinion, lost her way in this interview. The aggressive rambling over the 2016 election. Her negative, condescending words regarding our country and leader. This was not the time or place. After listening I was angry. But then have begun to feel sorry for her. It’s been 3 years move on. If you don’t Anne, you will find yourself in the same miserable, hating and negative place you are today.

Beautiful Stories Told By A Beautiful Storyteller
I don’t even remember how I found “Family Secrets” podcast over a year ago but I feel like Dani is a lifelong friend-something about her voice and storytelling makes her the equivalent to my adult version of Mr. Rogers ❤️ I love hearing stories from different people of all different walks of life-it reminds me that we are all humans who experience emotions-good or bad. I feel blessed to be able to have this daily to help me stay in touch with mankind while being physically away/restrained.

    Diversity
I like the idea behind Dani’s other podcast Family Secrets. I just think her guest lack diversity they are all Long Island Jews and people promoting books. She forgot the black American experience. I hope this show has black American themes and guest. One star for now.

Dani, this is such a beautiful idea for a podcast! I used to work next door to an Armenian restaurant, and this episode brought back some very nice memories of my friendship with the owner and his family. I talk to all of my favorite local restaurant owners when I pick up our meals. They all have managed to segue into the new model of take-out and delivery only. But it’s tough. One place had to lay off the entire staff except for two cooks. The manager takes phone orders at the register all day. And there’s an endless stream of customers picking up meals. But he worries that he won’t be able to get his treasured employees back after the crisis is over. He’s just trying to stay alive. I buy gift cards from them and promise to not use them until after they get back to business as usual. I still pay cash for my weekly pickup. This is really a business loan, payable in meals. It can really help their cash flow if enough people can do it. God bless you Dani ! ! Your biggest fan, Feeshy 🐟

    Great First Episode!
I loved Dani’s first episode! A really powerful message from the chef/restaurant owner she interviewed! I am not far from this area of NY, and I am hoping to try this takeout food soon!
