GushiFerretI’d only just found this…I discovered this podcast late in its life, not too long before it ended. I’m definitely gonna enjoy going through the back catalog and I do hope you folks find time to drop the occasional special feature. I know a bunch of us fans are going to be keeping it in our feed just in case. Thanks for the wags.

MajesticLobsterMagnetic and charming hosts create a hugely fun podcast.A hugely fun podcast with the incredibly charming Paul Giamatti explores a variety of fantastical and absurd topics while providing entertaining banter. Always a fun listen, I’m a big fan! Edit: Chinwag Plus was a bad idea. Edit: Oh well, nothing lasts forever.

The Actual Skinny PeteLove itIt feels like eavesdropping on the incredibly interesting / funny conversation happening at the table right behind you. The Bill Hader episodes are my faves. Ughh! So good! But why is it ending!?!?!?
-
leeofazGreat podcastI really enjoy this podcast! It’s given me tons of conversation starter ideas! Maybe you could consider interviewing Michael Masters at Montana Tech about his “aliens are time traveling humans” theory. It’s really mind-blowing! Keep up the good work!

Nurse KeithGood, and could be betterI love Paul Giamatti and really want to love this podcast. As a fellow podcaster with over 500 episodes under my belt, I’ve learned a great deal about conducting interviews over the years. Unfortunately, Giamatti makes countless amateur errors as an interviewer. At times he responds with so many “mm hmmm’s” “uh huh’s”, “yeah, yeah’s”, etc that it becomes distracting and overbearing. He also interrupts his guests far too many times, often using the terrible conversational strategy of saying the same word or phrase over and over again until the guest finally gives up trying to finish their thought and acquiesces to his interruption. He apparently feels so strongly that his comment is so crucial that he cuts off his guest in order to have his say. As I said, I so much want to love this podcast, but Giamatti’s conversational style is just too much to bear. Hosts need to give their guests the floor, not constantly interject and cut them off at every turn. Giamatti is a consummate actor, but he has a long way to go as an interviewer.
-
EripiotisChinwag indeedAlthough I am a late arrival to your podcast, I find it very informative and fun. Your guests are usually really awesome and we appreciate you. Thanks, erik rusch. I find it hard to believe in ghosts and monsters. I want to believe!
-
MRK to the EThe best!I barely listen to podcasts, there’s so many! Who has the time? But I always make time for the chinwag! Paul and Stephen discuss everything and anything I’ve ever been interested in from my youth to today! Wag on!

Maxillo1Great fall storyI really enjoyed Paul’s read of H.P Lovecraft. I’m going to explore Lovecraft this year. I suspect reading his stories will be perfect for cold evenings in front of then fire.

StillWorkingOnThatScreenplayEsoteric Delight Cures Existentialism of Humdrum Early 30’sProfessor Asma’s classes were my favorite part of college. I’m often jealous of my 17/18 year old self who got to spend a few hours a week just learning fascinating things and exploring weird ideas. Gosh I’m glad to have stumbled upon this podcast! Chinwag has injected some of that esoteric magic back into my week- and is way cheaper than grad school would be! (Also, now I can finally prove to friends that, no, really, these philosophy classes I took in art school were freaking amazing.)
-
msad3My Kinda PeopleNew listener thanks to Paul’s interview on Marc Maron’s pod. These talks are wonderful, the topics are intriguing, and I somehow feel like I’ve become friends with the hosts. Chin Wag is a win!
-
EysacRenualWeird and DelightfulPaul and Stephen always manage to make me laugh and teach me something new. Based on one of the episodes, I was inspired to watch “Nandor Fodor and the Talking Mongoose” on Amazon Prime. I am proud to wag on!
-
BelleAmUsed to love it, but…Now they have tiered offerings for those who pay. People with limited incomes have to watch every dollar. Do either of these gentlemen have to watch every dollar? I’m doubting it. Advertising isn’t lucrative enough, apparently. Well, sorry/not sorry, guys. Enjoy your privilege.
-
CWMCCLBest of BreedSimply my favorite podcast of them all. Great conversation. My books to read list grows with every episode. Smart, funny, thoughtful, educational.

Chris in FLAUnhinged Werewolf I Voted stickerAs we enter the vortex of election season, we need to highlight in Michigan they had an “I Voted” sticker design contest and a 12 year old is a finalist for a design called “Unhinged Werewolf”. We can all get behind this, regardless of party affiliation! As an election worker in Florida, we need more of this in our lives. Vote on my friends!
-
yoyolabelleLOVE THISAll I can say is thank you and wanna meet for dinner sometime? We wait excitedly each week for new latest episode and enjoyed it on the front porch on cool evenings all summer sipping cocktails. Your mix of humor and nerdiness makes for a perfect listen. Keep it up!
-
G teachLove This PodcastThe content is fascinating. I learn something new every show! But my favorite part is the banter between these impressive hosts! The best way to describe it is being a little sister and hanging out with my brother and his friends. There is a great childlike sense of wonder and joy. As an adult it’s great fun to experience the giggling and ability to take your imagination as far as it can go. Highly recommend this podcast! So much fun!
-
Rufusroughcut 24What a great podcast!!Thank you for turning me on to Clifford D. Simak! I read the Way Station and thought it was fantastic! I’m now working my way through his other novels and short stories. Thanks again!
-
CNelson320Wag on Paul & StephenI love this podcast! Their discussions with celebrities and those within the monster, aliens, conspiracy theorists, and the like is always, as Paul says frequently, fascinating. A couple of my favorite episodes were with Kathryn Hahn, Don Cheadle, Bill Hader, and Mad Gassers & Mass Hysteria. Wag on gentlemen!
-
Bromar64Love!!While I mainly listen to Housewives recaps and comedy podcasts, I am so glad to have found this early on. This podcast is right in the wheelhouse of my introverted self. Bless you both for making such a fun, brain affirming podcast. WAG ON!
-
joe6425Great PodcastI like the interesting stories they bring to cool subjects and the movie discussions are always great!
-
Just call me SpooksA delicious buffet of weird strangeness!Yeehah! I have finally found my people! Not since the heady days of legendary talk show host Art Bell has there been such a fun, entertaining and insightful rambling of non sequiturs and deep dives into the strange caverns and dark recesses of the human (and occasionally non-human) mind. Lake monsters, Bigfoot, shadow people and aliens are like old friends that have come over for supper, with Paul and Stephen shoveling on all the grits and ham they can stomach! Again, yeehah! And bring on the Cryptids!
-
HispanicgamerOne of the best shows on all things weirdOne of the best shows on all things weird and the occult. Love listening to Paul and Stephen about their interesting and fun stories. Their show makes my day!
-
SnookimOk weirdosIt’s a fun diversion with interesting information, historical relics, and questionable accuracy. The best part is the delight that Paul and Stephen share for all things esoteric.
-
Rainbows&YarnSupercalifragilisticexpialadocious!Admittedly, I was not a podcast listener until earlier this year. After a role elimination due to acquisition, I picked up a few industry-related podcasts to keep fresh during my “unexpected sabbatical” and began to explore other podcasts. I forget how I learned of Chinwag, but I immediately listened because I adore Paul Giamatti and am so glad I did! Chinwag is my go-to! I LOVE the potpourri of topics and guests. The show is constantly engaging and gets my brain firing in new ways. Hats off to Stephen for making philosophy fun and accessible! I always feel a tiny bit smarter after listening. 🤓 I also appreciate Paul's sci-fi book recommendations. My hubby is a sci-fi fan, so I love being able to suggest new books since I’m not much of a sci-fi reader. I purchased Lathe of Heaven for us and look forward to reading it. Wag on!
-
MetsFanDCAhh, a milestone achieved, but a sad day…Thank you Paul and Stephen for such a great podcast. With all the insanity in the world right now, being able to get lost in your intelligent, unpretentious, interesting, enlightening and hillarious chinwags was a medicine I needed in my life at this time. It took about 3 months to get through all of your episodes, but I’m sad I have to wait now for new chinwags to drop. Paul you been one of my favorite actors since Private Parts and Sideways and I really appreciate how authentic you are and how you’ve let us see who you really are as a person. Stephen, I really appreciate your kind skepticism mixed with curiosity. Question for Stephen, I’m about your age and a friend of mine and I double dated in the village in the summer of 1989 and saw Bo Diddley at some hole in the wall club and a certain rock/pop star from England with a signature hair style came in after the show ended. He looked like he was in his 70s and I figured it was some kind of a joke, but they ushered him in to see Bo Diddley as they were supposedly good friends. I was told by a staff member that was really this artist and I was in shock because he was standing right next to me. He must have been in the middle of one serious bender! Do you think you played with Diddley for this show and if you did, do you know who I’m talking about? Wag on!
-
Chris737!Fascinating and awesomeLove the show. Love the Hader ep, but the Chris Gethard was, for me, crème de la creme.
-
DuderonimousAsk the PhilosopherSteve and Paul, I love your show and listen frequently. The opening KathieLee/Regis exchange is always fun and we can feel the depth of the love and respect you share for each other. The Ask the Philosopher episodes are my favorite. You are both brilliant. I'm more interested in the unique ideas of Philosophers in an era or the building on former notions than I am in the names and personalities of the Philosophers and their personalities. I would love to know more about how the major ideas have permeated our culture and the consequences of these ideas in popular practice. Absolutely love your show. Please keep it going. Thank you
-
Kimba83Stars in makeupPaul, you posited that Boris Karloff was the only star who became one wearing full makeup. I immediately thought of Ron Perlman who became very popular and started his trajectory to stardom as Vincent “the beast,” in the TV show Beauty and the Beast. He then went onto become Hellboy, which really rocketed his career. He’s probably not at the level of stardom that Karloff was back in the 30’s and 40’s but I’m sure he cannot walk down the street without being recognized nowadays. I love your show and always learn something new! Keep it going!!
-
Torch68Favorite Episode = Fortean Times TalkHello Paul and Steve. Great show. I know there have most definitely been episodes where I’ve said to myself, Self! “This is my favorite episode” But this time it was “Fortean times talk” It was a great episode. I don’t know if you guys have ever heard of ancient Apocalypse, the Arie miniseries on Netflix. By Graham Hancock. But he is amazing and you should really most definitely have him on your show. It will blow blow your mind. Wishing you and Steve, great success in this endeavor, and”Wag On”!!!!!!!
-
pinkduck2000000000Deep dive on Lafcadio Hearn pleasePaul and Stephen, Thank you for capturing my attention by sharing your curiosities. As a foreigner who was born in, has lived and worked in Japan for many years, and is married to and have children with a Japanese partner, I’m hoping that you would consider a show about Lafcadio Hearn. His writings have inspired me to write about a WW2 battle scene where soldiers actively fighting are joined by their childhood favorite toys which only the protagonist can see.
