Amazing hosts - super thoughtful, intelligent conversation
My fav pod, always insightful and explores themes and elements that go beyond the show itself.

    A podcast for S4
Aron isn’t self aware to get that he traded JWs for progressive politics. I want to like these guys but the political lectures are stupid people saying stuff they think is smart
  • Scarletminded
Yup, you guys get that TD is supposed to be pulp
    A. Ron runs around the word “pulp” but I think he means TD is drama meets pulp. Even the title True Detective sounds like a pulp magazine. Since it is an anthology series and the showrunner bowed out with his idea, it doesn’t seem weird they took another original idea and put a Yellow King veneer on it. I cannot help the Yellowjackets similarities though. There are so many!

    The best tv reviewers/recappers
Bald Move is the best in the biz! Always the first podcast I go to after the episode! Keep it up fellas!

    These guys are the best
Been listening to all their shows for years.

    Excellent as always.
As always, Bald Move is the best. It’s remarkable when I sample the competition then come back to Bald Move. These two are the best. I’ve already left as many superlatives as I can think of in other reviews so here I’ll say it’s like the listening equivalent to driving an old used car compared a new luxury automobile.

    valuable companion
If you're binging any new show, if the Bald Move crew has covered it, you owe it to yourself to give their recaps a listen. Adds a lot to the experience of the show.

    Excellent
The Bald Move guys make each show I watch more enjoyable. Their TD coverage and speculation is excellent.

    I don’t know why I keep listening
It’s like these guys watch the show once and then just hit record and start spitballing. Half the time they seem like they miss key details, which would be the reason most people listen to TV recap/analysis podcasts, right? Also they can barely remember the character names. Then they go off on completely tone deaf tangents about things such as which hairstyle they prefer on a black female character (thanks white guys, for your expert opinion). And at the end, they read “feedback” which is just them opening a listener email they have seem to have never read before or vetted for any type of quality contribution, and reading it out loud. Like I said, I don’t know why I even keep listening. I guess there’s an occasional nugget in there that helps me see the show in a new light. But there are better TD podcasts out there.

    Always the best...
Jim and ARon are the best and I’m so glad they brushed off the True Detective dust for this new season. They always find a way to bring humor to even the darkest shows.

    My fave true detective coverage
    Again!

Skip this show and just read Reddit for 15 minutes, get all the info you need about the TD. It's a lazy rehash of things they read online. But even while cribing other people's words, they get loads of incorrect facts and misunderstand a lot of information. And are you in the industry? Repeatedly using "Oner" instead of continuous shots and other cringy phrases you read online doesn't make you sound knowledgable. Stop with the lingo. Nope to this.

    The podcast we deserve
Bald Move brings you yet another podcast for an amazing series. If you aren't a die hard Bald Move listener than are your really watching the show at all?

Entertaining listening, fun way to recap the shows.

    Great job!

    Insightful, fun, entertaining, relatable
I really enjoy Jim and A.Rons reviews. I found these two when I was looking for a supplemental podcast for season 2 of True Detective. I ended up going back to listen to season 1 as well. I also enjoy their Fargo and The Leftovers coverage as well. As they are -- struggling through the Walking Dead.

Love these guys hated the show.
These guys made the show bearable. Was confused that they didn't hate the show as much as I did but they are always entertaining.

    My Favorite Podcasters!
Listened to every podcast for this year's True Detective. Loved it. Even went back to the first season, re-watched, and then listened to every podcast they did on season one. Love the pyschosphere talk especially. Smart guys and funny. Highly recommend!

    Best In EVERY Way!
Jim and A.Ron are my favorite podcasters for True Detective and pretty much any other tv show I watch, whether that be for entertainment or critical engagement. They provide the best blend of humor, professional analysis and research, and self-awareness and cultural sensitivity I've found, especially for two white guys! And I listen to LOTS of podcasts. All this is to say, if you want a podcast that provides worthy commentary without taking themselves too seriously, Jim and A.Ron know how to bring it at BaldMove.

    Great podcast
I look forward to this podcast every week. I really enjoy their analysis and take on TDS2. I think they speak for everyone in saying this season is nowhere near as good as season one. I've listened to these for for a while now across various shows and listening to their take definitely adds my enjoyment. Keep up the good work!

    Great podcast
    Good insight

    Excellent Podcast
True Detective requires effort; it is not Law and Order. Season 2 is geometrically more compelling the more you invest in understanding its mysteries (and even its red herrings). To understand this series, I need to watch every episode twice and then hear thoughts from others who are really paying attention. These guys at Bald Move dig in deep and put the effort in for me. They scour Reddit and other sites on the internet, and they bring to the table insight, foresight and even some interesting conspiracy theories, and alot of references to literature and other media, which ultimately gives me an understanding of the show I wouldn't get to on my own. They have enhanced my enjoyment of Season 2 a ton and I really recommend the Podcast.
  • SlamMan78
    I like these guys
I really enjoy listening to this podcast more than the other ones for True Detective season 2. I look forward to listening after each weeks episode for their insight and also to hear if I might have missed a small detail of any episode.

    On point as always!
Jim and A-Ron are the best. Every series they cover is better because of their podcast-- True Detective is no exception.
  • Jolacla
    The Franchise!!
Jim and A.Ron are the best podcasters out there. Do I always agree with them. Heck no. Do they offer thoughtful engaging insight all while making me crack up laughing. Heck yeah!! I have tried listening to other podcasts of my favorite shows and none of them are as good and funny as these guys. I just want more content! Stick with The Americans next time Yo...
  • Rick Derris
    Waste. Of. Time.
These guys have forgotten the basic fact that the vast majority of listeners don’t hate a show that they would go out of their way to find, download, and take the time to listen to. Unless you are the 1% who loves to hear two guys talk about how much they hate a show don’t waste your time. Oh and be forewarned that you need to wait what is an eternity in this day and age after the show airs to listen to these two poop on it. They make it obvious that they don’t want to do this review, don’t waste your time too. One star for getting the audio levels correct.
  • Magfx
    Phsycosphere-ic!!
This podcast done by Jim am A.ron is top notch and has a heightened production compared to the other bald move casts.
  • Ellemills
    TV critics they are not...
I enjoy the Bald Move guys' Game of Thrones podcast well enough, so I decided to check out how they deal with another show I enjoy. Unfortunately it just doesn't work for True Detective. I have no interest in listening to two guys whine about how season two isn't as good as the first, and I can't take any analysis or criticism from them seriously when they struggle with pronouncing "Oedipus".
  • Jaylaud
    addictive qualities
This is a great podcast for any TD fans that find themselves thinking obsessively about the show starting Monday morning. While the Thursday releases are a bit late, they make up for it with an insane amount of content and analysis. good stuff
  • dangerwhatevs
    Best analysis
The psychosphere segment especially illustrates how much time and effort goes in to making this weekly podcast. Nobody does it better.
  • LAUG4
    Good podcast
Good podcast. I would give it 5 stars, but the excessive profanity in their discussions distracts from the content. They are clearly smart, well-read and insightful, so I don't get the f-bombs and GD's? Makes a good drinking game though; shot for every f-bomb....seriously though not bad.
  • samuelgrady1
    Another Bald Move Classic
Smart funny great insight. Truly feels like I'm discussing the show with life long friends. I wish these guys could do even more but I know that's basically impossible.

    Another great Bald Move joint
    Love it!

Essential Game of Thrones/ True Detective podcast
These are not True Detective/ Game of Thrones fanboys. There is obviously a love for the shows and a desire to see great entertainment, but if an episode is a dud these guys will call it like it is. Great recaps, analysis and predictions.

    Criticism without understanding
I am rarely moved to rate or review podcasts, but these two men so annoyed me that I was moved to comment. I have tried to like this podcast but can’t really handle the basically idiotic level of criticism that they deliver. I think this statement (paraphrased) by one of them regarding the quality of Justin Lin’s direction sums it up: “I felt like I was getting B, C+ directing in the first two episodes and this (episode 3) was B+/A-. Felt a little more rich. I lack the vocabulary to say what I’m actually trying to say here.” This is it in a nutshell. Two presumably bald men with no actual insight or expertise in direction criticizing direction. It’s sort of like listening to two bald men on an airplane criticize the captain.

    Great show and intelligent convo
Best True Detective pod out there along with the pod Too True Detective.
  • TKrone8970
    Essential
New listener and gotta say as tepid as my feelings were on the season thus far this podcast has totally reignited my True Detective love. Love the in-depth analysis. These guys do all the legwork of scouring reddit etc to give you every ounce of the stuff packed into these episodes. Keep it up guys!
  • Stardog75
    Deepest Podcast
I am completely hooked on Bald Move. Jim and A Ron dig deeper, bring more info and do more research about the shows that they podcast than any other TV show based podcast that I have heard. Listen to these guys if you want something more than hearing your idiot co-workers talking about a show around the water cooler. If you are said idiot co-worker: please listen to these guys so you will learn something.
  • TupacsCousin
    Love Baldmove podcasts-
I love Jim and A.Ron's podcasts. They're super structured and thoughtful. They take their jobs as podcasters very very seriously. Like when I watch a show it's to have a good time. They'll watch a show three or four times. Each with a different intent. They do not spoil! Again I repeat they do not spoil things for you. That's huge!!!
  • drs0106
    Decent Review when actually posted
I like the in-depth analysis/conjectures, but they are posted way too late after the episode airs.
  • zb123
    Awesome
    Righteous podcast!
  • abo46n2
    Lots of complaining
The first episode is full of the hosts complaining about what they didn't like in the new season. I'd rather forgo the complaining and get to the analysis and exploration of the show.
  • indieperfume
    in depth, engaging, amusing
they hit the show from every angle imaginable. I do find it kind of strange some the mispronunciations and militant attitude about keeping it wrong from time to time but that’s minor. The voices are great and they care.
  • ebeth23
Another Bald Move podcast I must hear
Very good discussion about a quality television show. I may not always agree but it's nice to hear different viewpoints. The format of the podcast is good too. The dip into the "psycho sphere" is often entertaining and enlightening.
  • Gettin Lost Forever Son.
    These guys are the best
Thanks Bald Move! Love your work! TV isn't the same without your podcast afterwards. Appreciate all the hard work! Your the best!

    Bald Move does it again!
These two are really the best when it comes to tv rated podcasts. Provide good insights and research to enhance our enjoyment of each episode. I appreciate their chemistry and humor. Keep up the good work!

    Bald move rocks
Gets me through my work day commutes. Loved breaking bad cast, now walking dead, GOT, Saul, Fargo. Now True Detective! Love it all. Best tv podcast out there.
  • TravisSmith
    Fun and Informative
I'm a big fan of the Bald Move network and they are perfect for a show like True Detective. They do a fantastic job of "deep diving" into an episode and grabbing at theories and details and they do a fine job of researching and shedding light on symbols and "beyond the episode" education. They also are just fun to listen to. They have a good sense of humor and a very conversational style that I appreciate greatly. I highly recommend this podcast as well as their other work. Jim and A.Ron do a fantastic job.
