    Highly Entertaining!
I have listened to NGP now for about a few months. I have listened to over 100 episodes in that span and continue to listen to the backlog today. Dustin, Kenny, and Nolan do a great job of explaining the games they are playing while also being unbiased (unless it’s Final Fantasy for Dustin) with their critique. Definitely worth your time if you are into retro gaming!

    Good content
I love when they have differing opinions on the game. When Nolan hates a game and the other two love it, I know it’s going to be a hilarious and good episode. It’s great that they put so much effort into experimenting with every aspect of the games they play, things I wouldn’t think of. I’m only 80ish episodes in at the point of writing this but there hasn’t been a boring episode yet, not even when they had to play Space Invaders. Which given the amount of content in that game is impressive. Great show. Listen to it

    Unapologetically Authentic
The concept is simple and brilliant. The host are honest, authentic, and likable who are fiercely dedicated to their audience. Best of all the show does not fall into the traps every other retro gaming podcasts out there seems to. They don’t infuse politics into the discussion. They don’t condescend to the audience or the games. And most of all they do not pretend to be something they are not. They admit they are not gaming journalists, experts, or historians. Instead they are proud to simply be a show where 3 guys play 1 old game for 7 days and then we talk about it. Never stop boys, the community needs people like you now more than ever.

A fairly shallow retro game podcast
I've listened to several episodes and overall, the episodes are midly entertaining but I'm left mostly disappointed. Each episode, the three hosts pick a random retrogame and play through it for a week then meet to discuss. There's a couple of things I was expecting out of this podcast that I don't get. Firstly, the hosts are not particularly knoweldgeable about retrogames. You aren't going to hear much of trivia or history of the game. The hosts don't do any research or investigations into the games background. And they aren't that familiar otherwise -- in the Castlevania: Symphony of the Night episode, Dustin mentions he's never played a Castlevania game before. So they don't necessarily have a greater, indepth knowledge of game history to be able to draw on to give better context to a game. Given that, they don't necessarily do a particularly good job of describing a game or its mechanics. I think to get anything out of the podcast, you'll already have to be pretty familiar with the particular game. And then don't expect to learn anything new about it. So, it's really just three general video game enthusiasts / laymen who meet each week to discuss their own thoughts about a particular retro game -- their thoughts and feelings on playing the game today. And it can be nice to hear a podcast of people talk about games you care about but the content is just too shallow for my tastes.

    Great Show
Great show except the old fella sometimes describes games as “too Japanese”

    I didn’t turn it off right away…
What do you get when you listen every week to three guys who play one old game and then they talk about it, AND catch up on the backlog ? About 300 hours of your life that you’ll never get back! I feel like either Kenny,Nolan, or Dustin need to reimburse me for my lost time. Or they can evenly split up 100 hours between each other… Joking aside this is hands down my favorite podcast to listen to. I just finished catching up on all the episodes and loved every one of them so I felt it was only right to finally rate and write a review on it. The friendship and chemistry between the guys is great and makes for a truly enjoyable show to listen to every week. The NGP community on Discord is also the most welcoming and friendliest online community that I have been a part of and it’s great to be able to talk with everyone including the hosts who are always active in chat. If you’re looking for video game content to listen to I encourage you to put NGP at the top of your list; you will not be disappointed. Keep up the good work fellas, Discord community, and mods. Y’all make my Mondays so much better! Nate a.k.a. Brundk

Thank you Kenny, you make the podcast great.
This podcast is truly amazing. You can feel all of the care and effort that Kenny puts into the show, and thanks to him this podcast has become what it is today. Not only is Kenny able to provide extremely smart and objective commentary on the games they review, he is able to do so while simultaneously being hilarious and enjoyable to listen to, striking the perfect balance between reviewer and entertainer. Not only is Kenny a good podcaster, Kenny is a good person. He maintains his good spirit and humble mild demeanor in-spite of the many unfair trials and tribulations Dustin puts him through. Dustin is a vile creature who desires to stop Kenny from reaching his full potential. He on numerous occasions has dissuaded others from offering words of encouragement to Kenny. Why does he do this? Nobody really knows but perhaps he is jealous and envious of Kenny, or he fears losing his position as the primary host to the infinitely more qualified Kenny. Hang in there Kenny, we’re all rooting for you. PS: Nolan is cool.

Mega Man 3 Review Is Bull Crap
First of all, Mega Man 3 is not a difficult game. Struggling with it means you’re not good at video games. Second of all, that game is an NES masterpiece. I only listened to this one episode, but you guys objectively reached the wrong conclusions. Maybe I’ll tune in again, but we’ll see.

    Emulation Junk
You collect money from people on patreon yet you are still using junk n64 emulators. Get an n64,everdrive, and a retro tink so you can actually give opinions of how the game is meant to be played. Not glitched out with bad graphics because your too lazy or cheap. Do better.

    Mi favorito
My wish is for this podcast to just slowly keep growing until they decide to do it full-time and give us more specialty episodes(the Tomagatchi one was probably my favorite). Kenny, Nolan, and Dustin have great chemistry together and have cultivated a great podcast which has grown to add a YouTube video component. I love the one game a week randomized format—it leads to some really great episodes when the random game happens to be detritus, and they are forced to talk about the economics of making video games, cultural fads of the times, and get into pointless debates for the sake of entertaining their faithful audience. One of my favorite Discord servers as well!

    I love this podcast!!!!
The three of them make such a good team, I listen to them everyday and they always make me smile no matter what game they are playing!

    Great podcast
Dustin, Kenny, and Nolan are a great team with each bringing a unique experience in gaming. They are not experts in gaming and gaming history. But they are 3 brothers from another mother who love gaming and the bonds that gaming can make. And sharing there experience’s with retro games. Keep up the great work guys. Love the show and looking forward to playing more of the retro games of the week. Thank you for all the entertainment!!

Wonderful place to satisfy your retro itch
ever since I found out about this podcast I found my happy place it was wonderful and I smiled at least 10 times every episode the people are funny the games are awesome the good and the bad but it also helps you to check out the games that you wouldn’t have found out about yourself but this podcast I feel is something almost everyone can enjoy whether your a gamer programmer or just a regular person but if you just want something to cheer you up these are great people for it

    Pure joy!
When I’m feeling down, this podcast always makes me lol and inspire to go enjoy a great game (or maybe not so great). The camaraderie and humor are simply top tier.

    Great show!
I love listening to this podcast every night, and it’s short enough to where I can listen to an episode without it taking up a chunk of my rest! All the games you play are explained and reviewed very well and in a comedic fashion, and Kenny, big the cat

    Great throwback to my childhood
I just started listening to this podcast a couple of weeks ago, and it is awesome. I’ve listened to other gaming podcasts and just didn’t like the way games were judged, it was very unfair and too compared to games today. You three are able to separate your views from today’s games and take the retro game for what it was in the time period it came out. The different personalities and opinions keep it mixed and entertaining, also very funny at times. Games I played back when I was young, like Karnov and Athena, I never knew another person who ever heard of those games. The fact that you covered those just brought me back to my 8 year old self. Keep doing what you do, and don’t ever stop the segues. It cracks me up every time.

    You guys are just amazing!
I happened to stumble on you guys trying to find video game pod casts and I am on episode 23 and I am just in love with your humor and you guys just have great conversations and I seriously thank you guys.
  • Geeksplorepod
A worthy entry in the video game podcasting landscape.
I like that each of the guys spends a whole week with each of the games. It doesn’t even seem that many professional reviewers devote that much time. It is enough time to really get to know a game and as such they generally have interesting insights. It is fun to hear about games I haven’t played as well as listen to them cover my favorites.

Retro-gaming reviews for the everyman (or woman!)
Three guys with different tastes in games play 1 retro video game over a week and break it down well. I've been along for the ride for about a year now, and find myself digging back into older episodes because they do an awesome job of reflecting the average gamer's general opinion on these retro games. It's refreshing to get such quality reviews and banter from podcasters with no ties to the gaming industry. Their discord is also a fantastic place to come chill with like-minded postive people, and it says a lot about the guys to have cultivated such an awesome place to co-exist.

    Best Podcast in the Land
I look forward to every Monday when I listen to NGP. The content is too notch, it’s an amazing place to come where folks who love gaming from the 80’s, 90’s and early 00’s. The community that comes with it is an added bonus!

    So nostalgic
I had a lot of fun reviewing the games I played and loved as a kid. It’s just such a fun podcast

    Love this.
Only on episode 12 but I love this so far. Listening to other people's opinions about games I grew up playing and some that I didn't really kicks in the nostalgia.

    Nostalgic and entertaining
Love listening to honest opinions about their games m/ topics- amusing to see them play random favorites and react to quirks about the games

    One of the best!
I’ve been listening to this podcast for the past couple of weeks and it’s one of the best video game podcasts I’ve heard. This is coming from someone listens to nothing but retro gaming podcast. I work long hours at a third shift job and this podcast makes it a lot better. Thanks NGP.

    NG+ is great!
I just started listening to a couple of the episodes, and I was so hooked on the personality and comments of these guys that I have started listening to the 155 in chronological order; they are that fun and good! The personality of the reviewers is crucial to ensuring that I will like a podcast of any type; and these guys are awesome! Currently listening to the Animaniacs episode, 6 I think, and have heard some additional 15 episodes so far. Continue being awesome guys!!! I’ll catch up in a couple of weeks to episode 155, jejeje
  • taler_oh
    More time
I wish they played the game longer. A week seems like such a short amount of time. Especially when rating RPGs.

The best Podcast on the planet! Really!
I’ve listened to this podcast since their very first episode on Earthworm Gym. It’s been a fun few years getting to know the hosts through their extremely active community on discord. Dustin, Nolan, and Kenny are great friends and that comes across on this podcast and makes the whole listening experience more intimate and enjoyable. If you like podcasts about gaming, nostalgia, or if you enjoy the best segues in the biz, give them a listen. If you’re new, start on whatever their newest episode is before going through the whole library... you’ll want to after your first listen.

    A Really Fun Podcast
What a great concept to review random games! It sure beats hearing about Zelda and Final Fantasy over and over as on other retro podcasts (although I do like those games). The three guys are great together and add a nice variety. I love the anticipation of what the next game will be and that they take suggestions for their master list. It's great to hear about games I'd never consider playing. The only downside it due to the random choices of games, they can get into a long streak of bad games. I'd like to hear a podcast about higher rated games once a month or so. Keep it up!

One of the best gaming podcasts out there
I really enjoy this podcast. The hosts have a great energy, a good amount of humor, and tackle each week's game with an open mind and using their own experiences. I've been listening to NGP since the second episode and I have yet to miss a week of listening. Kenny, Nolan, and Dustin interact with the listeners frequently and even setup a Discord server so it's a little more like listening to a bunch of friends try to tackle a myriad of awesome and awful games each week and doing it along with them.

They cover so many games that I had all but forgotten about. Listening to this podcast, I just want to go back and play some of these games again.

    Really dig it so far!
I listened to a couple episodes, cherry picked my favorite games that I saw. Particularly enjoyed the discussion of Banjo Kazooie, my favorite childhood game! You guys have great voices that are easy to listen to and really know your stuff. I'll have to dust off the N64 now! Keep it up!

    Go deep!
Knowing that the hosts have played these games lends weight to their conversation. There is a level of humor when they get serious over the details of mechanics when the game is about something wacky, like catching monkeys.
  • +2 Comedy
A blast from the past, with new comers
As an older gamer, it is really interesting to hear these guys experience my favorite games for the first time.

    Great Retrospective
I was too young to understand how awesome the games I was playing were. This podcast really takes an in depth look at the technical marvels we were playing at the time. Fun and informative, definitely worth listening to.

    Gaming History 101
This is a great idea for a podcast (and one I wish I had!) where they play through an old game and share thoughts about it after the fact. Great approach to gaming that’s more about their friendship and less about high scores and scoops. :)

    GREAT PODCAST
The 3 of you guys work well together and give great insight on retro games
  • jrbgn
    Decent
I keep it in the rotation and listen here and there. I enjoy the premise of the show, but the conversation is often kind of stale and doesn’t offer much in the way of unique insight or critique. In contrast to other podcasts I listen to, such as Retronauts or Watch Out for Fireballs – one thing that frequently bugs me is these guys don’t seem well-read on the history of the releases, sometimes even getting titles or facts incorrect.

    Pump up the jam!
High quality podcast with engaging hosts and interesting content. Even if you’re not a “gamer” per se, the humor keeps you listening. If you ARE a gamer, especially one that enjoys some older games (PlayStation era and before), you will absolutely love this podcast. The guys aren’t professionals, but they do spend time with a single retro game each week and always have fun things to share about said game.
