Hoist Petardyour review of Seconds was brilliantSeconds made such a deep impression on me when I saw it on a Saturday on TV when my parents were out shopping. I think Will Geer's character was truly sad to put Rock Hudson to death. You remember Rocks character was drugged an hypnotized to find what he really desired before they gave him his new life. In the end, there was nothing Rock's character could find happiness in, and that is why they gave up on him.

It's alright; I'm a doctor.Famous Monsters for your earsListening to his solo podcasts is just like reading Famous Monsters of Filmland.

sincladpListener since 2018Still love this podcast. As a devout classic horror fan, I’m still finding that I learn a lot about my favorites. Jim balances the perfect amount of passion and information. All episodes with Mark and Madeline are even better.

Billy DunleavyNew listenerJust discovered this show and it’s very enjoyable. Host is pleasant, and any monster kid will have a good time.

Pokerface ChetFor Sincere Fans of Classic HorrorThis show clearly is a labor of labor of love for our host, Jim. He finds the good even in mediocre old movies, resisting the temptation to make himself sound cool by picking at their flaws or making fun of old tropes. When Jim flies solo, he gives a lot of interesting backstory about cast, plot and production, which helps me decide whether or not I want to spend time tracking down some of the more obscure titles. When Jim has guests, the show gets a little livelier but often flies off on tangents that leave basic information unaddressed. If you have a warm place in your heart for old horror movies, this show will help you get even more enjoyment out of them.

Kevin 251Must-listen for monster movie fansJim knows what he's talking about. I'm enjoying his (and his co-hosts') commentary on familiar old favorite monster/horror movies, as well as learning about movies I probably should have seen long ago. Recommended!

Winter of 63Takes Me BackI’m a little older than Jim. I saw most of these movies at the theater or drive in, while Jim saw them on TV. It’s a blast from the past for me. Love the show, but they haven’t covered my favorite movie as a kid yet - The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad. How about it Jim.

P@rick From SouthieGreat Show But.....Really enjoy this show but Jim you need to learn mute that mic when your co-host tries to speak. Your “acknowledgement sounds” mask over everything. For example. While your co-host is talking, you say “ah-huh” or “right” about 7 times in a row. By the time your done with your 5th “ah-huh” your co-host finished his sentence and we never hear it. It’s a combination of you sounds and mike volume. Other than that - great show, great topics

@JimDuchene@JimDucheneI enjoy your podcast, especially your recent X: The Man With The X-Ray Eyes. Can’t wait to see where you’re going to take us next. Thought you might find this interesting: “ by Christianne Benedict in Filmmaking on Jan 13, 2014 I sometimes think I learned everything I know about horror movies from Stephen King. I have an old copy of Danse Macabre that my parents gave me for Christmas in 1982. I’ve read it to tatters. One of the pieces of received wisdom found in that book is the notion that the most Lovecraftian film ever made is Roger Corman’s X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes. I would have eventually noticed it myself, given some seasoning in the genre. Lovecraft really leaps off the screen during the film’s climax, in which Ray Milland’s James Xavier raves about the all-seeing eye staring at him from the center of the universe. The film doesn’t exactly depict Lovecraft’s three-lobed burning eye of Yog-Sothoth, but it doesn’t need to. Another arcanum found in Danse Macabre is the legend of a lost ending, in which Xavier, having plucked his eyes from their sockets, exclaims: “I can still see!” This is apocryphal. Corman himself debunks this particular legend—the scene was indeed discussed, but never filmed.” I never made the Lovecraftian connection before.

Doctor SinRate It, Lazy Bones!Four seasons and just 18 ratings? (A five star rating average, but only 18 total?) Are the Monster Kids REALLY that lazy? This is a good and FUN podcast, the least we can do is applaud it with more ratings (if not, written reviews)! One listen, and you can tell the host has done his homework and invested a lot of time and energy for a quality show (all for free, no less). Do your part and tap some stars to increase the feedback, so it will get the recognition it deserves and others will know it exists. (I almost didn’t listen, but I’m sure glad I did.) There’s so many crappy podcasts out there, we owe it to ourselves to share the good ones so they don’t stop!
-

GraboidzLike B-Movies? You'll Love This ShowJust discovered this show, and immediately filled my iPod with every episode. Two hosts, Jim and Mark, discuss the B-movies we all grew up watching on our local Creature Feature or Ghost Host shows on the UHF stations. If you love movies like "The Monolith Monsters" and "13 Ghosts", you should put Monster Attack on a steady rotation.
