Overall great content and Aziz is great host. Some agenda topics of Ashaya and guest keep total rating down. Would be nice to just enjoy commentary of the content without trying to inject social issues/politics. Asha’s stoner/valley girl voice is super annoying and it is tiring listening to her trying to spin every topic into a pro-female character dialogue. According to Ashaya, only the female characters are worth discussing. Push your agenda on others and allow us to enjoy the show.

Here’s the thing…..These guys know an INSANE amount of GOT-related history, but when attempting to make the story analogous to actual history, etc., they are almost always laughably inaccurate. Maybe more personal time dedicated to learning about real history and less dragons and magic, but I digress. It’s a show for GOT nerds, so it stands to reason it would lend itself to absurdity. The biggest problem (and why I had to stop following) is the frequency with which Aziz laughs at his own jokes. It’s insufferable. It comes off more as a nervous tick than a sincere appreciation of his own dopey musings, but it’s really uncomfortable to listen to.

This is the show that sets the standard for all ASOIAF content. I’ve been listening loyally since 2016 and will continue to do so.

I don’t write many reviews, but this one is necessary. This show has expanded my ASOIAF knowledge 10 fold. Aziz, Ashaya, and Sean are all great teachers. Whether you are just getting started or read ASOIAF as the books have been released, I think this show has something for you. There is endless content and if they didn’t cover a topic to the fullest extent the first time, they will have an opportunity to come back and cover the rest. Truly, love their content and would love to catch them at con soon!

Used to love this show before Sean was a regular participant. I don’t want to be unnecessarily rude, but I find his presence on the show very grating. His commentary is always so asinine, surface-level, and not thought provoking in the least. Certainly nowhere near the level of insight Aziz and Ashaya give in their commentary.

Does anyone know which episode focuses on the Unsullied? Really interested to hear details of their training and legendary battles

The first episode of the House of the Dragon where Aemma Arryn has a C-section is actually the exact situation that happened to Queen Alyssa, the mother of Jaehaerys I, Alysanne and Rhaena Targaryen in the Fire & Blood book. Aemma did die from childbirth and did have a son who survived her a day in the book. Why would HBO, who have a tendency of being as accurate as they possibly can when they producing shows green light this inaccuracy?

So the hosts know their canon and that’s a good thing. However, lots of talking about nothing and getting sidetracked away from the content. Still, it’s better than dragoncast where the hosts can’t even get character’s names correct and know none of the history. The third host (I don’t know his name, but he’s always chiming in with wrong information) has no business talking about this stuff. Stick to the content. It’s all right there in the books. In one episode, they’re speculating on the possibility of a Jon Snow series and it just becomes chaos. Not enjoyable.

Really happy listening to History of Westeros. The scripted episodes are well planned and narrated. Amazing information for the hardcore fans. I thought that I knew everything, yet new insights are revealed each episode. I can listen to this podcast on a loop and know more each time. Encouraging to think about the spectacular words of George RR Martin. This is not unplanned babbling like so many other podcasts. Thank you.

I love this show ! It’s definitely for fans that are deep and dirty into A Song of Ice and Fire or at least a Game of thrones. But if that’s you this show provides all the details in such a fun way. I’ve listened to hundreds of hours and each new episode is a treat

Out of touch with series, and bad chemistry. There are bad takes nearly every minute of play time, GRRM’s piss would be more intriguing, and informing than these bozo’s takes on Westeros

I discovered this podcast about 6 or 7 years ago, and let me tell you; if you want to deep-dive into the World of Ice and Fire, this is one of the best choices out there. The amount of research these two people must do is astounding. You might cringe at Aziz’s dad jokes here and there, but his and Ashaya’s commentary is clear, interesting and fun.

The crutch of using “like” as a filler words makes this podcast unlistenable.

the names are spoken out loud every single week on the show and you guys still somehow mess up Larys & other names so terribly. the discussions are fine it’s just annoying - seems like you don’t watch the show at all

When I listen to an ASOIAF podcast, I want it to reflect the world of Westeros—where women are put in subservient positions and preferably take an oath never to speak. The more I have to listen to women, the more chances they have to turn me gay. No thanks! Until scientists finally figure out how human reproduction works, we have no choice but to assume black magic and to treat women as the witches they presumably are. Giving this 5 stars anyway…but IRONICALLY!

Love the scripted episodes and have been listening to this podcast for years. Easily the most knowledgeable ASOIF podcast that I’ve found. But it seems like the lady host, Ashaya, has been given the green light to be much more involved lately and she’s got a voice that is so hard to listen to for two hours. Dial her back again for improvement

While I appreciate the in depth review as I haven’t read the books, sometimes they go down a rabbit hole so that can be confusing. I loathe how Aziz & Ashaya laugh at everything, esp Aziz. Also the way they jump down Sean’s throat if he misspeaks or gets a name wrong. They need to lighten up. They also need to quit talking over each other and maybe slow down when talking.

Just a few annoyances like laughter after every sentence from Aziz. The other guy can’t get names right but all in all it’s fine.

Or at least have rotating hosts, it’d be a fresh take to hear from folks that only watch the show. Or even a moderator so y’all not constantly talking over each other. It’s like the two main hosts get carried away by tidbits in the book and lose focus on the show’s portrayal. It just feels like they not watching the same show I am but I maybe just need to find other podcasts that have more voices that add to the HBO series’.🤷🏼‍♀️

Love the guys, but think the female is (as usual) trying too hard to show women can do film review and analysis same as the guys. She's the one correcting anyone who misspoke like some schoolteacher, forcing her turn, interjecting cos she can't wait to give her input, always having something to say that y'all dont know... i love the show but can't stand the female host. Very try hard to show she's most well read and smart

The female host sounds like she’s trying to yell every time she says something. All of their name pronunciations are totally off. They entire podcast is a mess. Spent 20 mins talking about how peoples sentiments are spoilers and then go on to talk about how terrible Daemon is….

They give spoilers on non-spoiler labeled shows. Stupid.

Dig the weekly content & the general chemistry of the hosts. I feel so odd pointing this out but the female host does a very odd weak chuckle / almost laugh thing most of the time when she laughs and it interrupts the flow. Honestly if she laughed normally it’d be a non-issue

Hands-down the best A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones/House of the Dragon podcast. There is no one even close.

I have been quietly watching and listening to History of Westeros for years now and they are undoubtedly one of the best in the ASOIAF fandom.

Aziz & Ashaya are the smartest people in the room. Their vast knowledge and in-depth explanation help those of us that are less fortunate to fully understand the world that is ASOIAF. I also enjoy the always entertaining Shawn. Overall this is the best of the best when it comes to all things related to Game of thrones. Great job guys!

insightful and thorough episodes delving into the world of ASOIAF. There are episodes I’ve listened to several times: Blackfyre Rebellions and Bloodraven especially. Aziz and Ashaya and their many guests are engaging and easy to listen to. The episodes have gotten better as time has progressed and production values have gone up.

As someone who has not read the books but was a big show fan, everything is explained so astoundingly well so that even I’m able to follow along. The scripted episode are on the level of something like a history channel special but for ASOIAF. Love everything from Aziz and Ashaya. Keep up the good work guys.

When I first started listening to Westeros history.. it changed my life. I had read the books, was searching around the forums when some mystery caught my attention. But Westeros History turned my hobby into an obsession. They provide super-in-depth looks to big and small corners of the Planetosi universe. I like to listen to most podcasts twice to fully get them, and there’s some oldies but goodies I still go back and re-listen to for a fifth time. The rotating trio all work really well together and the conversational chemistry is what makes these episodes so entertaining. Thanks you guys
