If your a true die hard Detroit Lions fan then this is the only podcast you need. I live in Chicago now and grew up in Detroit with the Lions. I listen to every ” Locked on Lions “ podcast for over a year now. It’s real. No bull, by far the best and I’ve listened to all the other podcasts. This is the only podcast you will need.

I’ve been a lions fan since 1990, stumbled across the podcast during this last offseason and have been hooked ever since. It’s literally my first listen every day at work, love it

If you want to listen to someone whine anytime things aren’t perfect or if his opinion is criticized this is the show for you!

Dery is a decent podcast host but it’s clear he doesn’t have the passion. He doesn’t have the mindset or love for the team a real Detroit fan would. This makes it impossible to sit through some of his cold takes that aren’t even inherently football related. Dery would do worlds better covering Guardians Baseball and not Detroit football.

I decided to listen to this podcast to try a new lions podcast and this guy don’t know football. Want to pick up a pass rusher at the trade deadline, guess what, you trust the process. Don’t settle. Build through the draft.

I gave up after 2min. It’s 2023, step your game up. Please fix your sound/audio. It sounds like you are doing the pod inside a vending machine. I appreciate your effort but it sounds terrible.

Hot takes galore, poor analysis, and the snarkiest tone one could imagine. Like one of the other reviewers said below, I come back from time to time after being a subscriber and always regret it. Also -222 Rod Wood Drive isn’t funny. Like, at all. Let it go.

The Jamo hate is unreal, made me stop in the middle of the episode.

Matt Dery is the most professional/polished podcaster I’ve heard. Perfect blend between old school Radioish and modern podcasting. I love the show. He also shout out other Lions podcasts without fear of helping the “competition”. I’ve caught a couple of the YouTube shows and someone get Matt a better camera, the video quality needs to compliment the host and audio quality.

Once a month I try to give this show another listen, but I just can’t handle daily. It’s usually mid content between way to many teasers/commercials. 43% of the show is commercials and “coming up nexts…” *June 7 Show Starts* O:01-3:45: Commercial and Teasers 3:46-8:45: Content 8:46-11:20: Teasers and Commercials 11:21-16:30: Bad content 16:31-18:55: Commercials and teases 18:55- 22:40: Content 22:41-23:20: Commercial When I want some entertaining content that make Lions fans feel good, I listen to Peter Bokowski on Locked on Packers trash Aaron Rodgers haha.

5 Stars my man, keep up the great work Dery even during the off season still giving us good content

Like the Lions being a hard watch in the past, I thought show was a hard listen in its beginning. He sometimes mixed sports and social commentary. Dude is hitting it now. The guy got ripped for his mock draft but was it as eff’ed up as the reality? I listen to many other Locked On pods and Dery in “Comp” sounds like a pro. Top 10 in NFL Locked-On pods for sure. Can we work on the audio cracking in and out now? Also, It’s getting really Rah!, Rah! for the Lions this year. Are we getting set up! Again.

It’s sad but Dery used to be a decent listen while the Lions were a dumpster fire but he seems to suffer from “Battered Fan Syndrome.” His submission to the Locked On Draft Series in ‘23 for the Pitt DT at number 6 was rightly laughed at by actual football minds as he’s probably not even a first round pick. After listening to Mr. Dery I just want the past hour of my life back. He’s totally unqualified for the job he has. I’d give the show zero stars if I could. Save your time if you’re a Lions fan. There are plenty of other pods that will actually inform.

There aren’t a ton of Lions podcasts, so as Lions fans who are hungering for content it’s easy to click on this because it’s daily. Every time I do, though, I almost immediately regret it. Dery consistently dishes out incredibly biased takes, and regularly puts his foot in his mouth (he even issued an on air apology due to this recently). This guy gives bad hot takes every episode and it’s just not worth the listen. You’re better off replaying the most recent episode of One Of These Days or Pride of Detroit. Don’t give clicks to someone who drafts Kancey and Murphy in the first and trades up for Torrence. This guy knows nothing.

Dery is one of the most fair lions podcast hosts there is. Bro was about to leave when we were 1-6 and stayed strong and watched the 8-2 down the stretch. He’s one is us for sure. Side note: the audio quality on the podcast has really gone downhill since the show went on YouTube tho. At least once a day, you miss some info due to audio quality. Great show tho! Love it.

Tried listening one more time and the guy has low energy, bad takes, and throws in dumb pc trash when he can to prove how big of a woke simp he is. Plenty of other lions podcasts you can listen to, I’d recommend over this one until they can this garbage host.

The episode with Mike V was the final straw, I’m so glad I have found another Lions podcast to listen to because this is garbage

Great 2022 for the Detroit Lions and I love listening to Matt Dery every week. Can't wait until next year!

I have listened to this podcast for years and it does help me stay aware of what is happening with the team but Lions fans deserve better. When the host threatened to quite the podcast if the team lost again, I started listening to the host of the Lions opposing team and I learned three things. 1. They do so much more research. I understand this podcast is just his side hustle but it doesn’t feel like that for other locked on hosts. They do research of the opponents and film breakdowns to support their takes. Matt Dery does the PFF top and bottom five for offense and defense each week. He relies on guests to bring the informed takes and his “crack research staff” that I assumed he was saying as reference to his own research but then he clarified that they are real, he just wont name them. Probably because someone will ask them to take over the show if he really does shine the spotlight on them. 2. They are not all talk radio guys. Dery does bit radio with insider nicknames that he will not stop using like “Hall of Fields” implying that everyone thinks that Justin Fields will go to the hall of fame when I have never heard that take from anyone even in Chicago media. He calls anzalone “gaines media posterboy” and nobody even knows what that means. 3. They adjust their opinions. He won’t let go of old takes. He has been calling the front office 222 rod wood drive for so long that now when GM Brad Holmes looks competent Rod Wood seems irrelevant. The show has the feel of a college coach that runs the same scheme until it is not effective anymore and he gets run out of town. I know Dery does great ad reads and has been with David Locke since the beginning, but Lions fans deserve real research, thoughtful takes, and something new.

Matt has zero insight. Do not waste your time on this pod. There is no analysis, just Matt rattling off all the talking points he sees on other media outlets. On the rare occasion he actually makes his own “analysis”, it is so off base and outlandish that it makes me cringe. Basically 971 talk radio In podcast form

This show is just full of commercials and the host does almost no research it literally seems as though he goes on the team website and just sees what they post or maybe on the team social media pages if you want to listen to a better podcast about the Detroit Lions there are a couple better ones

Matt Dery is great. Very informative, knowledgeable and entertaining. He is one of the better commentators.

MD is balanced on the Lions. He doesn’t go too far one way or the other. Not a raving maniac.

No one, and I mean NO ONE, has a healthier view of the Lions than Dery. He’s not some bandwagon guy that tells those that drink the Kool-Aid what they want to hear. He’s not someone that is negative just to be negative. I mean, there have been a lot or reasons to be negative. He breaks down the games, the team and the front office with an educated and objective view of what he actually sees on the field. Not to mention, with 20 years of being a member of the Detroit media, he has the contacts and is an insider. Knowledgable, honest and down to earth. Love listening to the Diesel.

He is literally negative on everything lions and has no knowledge of the game. Does he even watch.

Way too many commercials for a 30-minute podcast, kills the flow of the show. Too much “coming up next” teasing, this isn’t traditional radio, just get to it.

Only Lions dedicated podcast that I continuously listen to year after year. Matt does a great job!

Perfect mix of news, guests, and opinions. Matt runs a great show both in and off-season. I love this show for my drive to work. It’s a great daily listen for me!

I look forward to the podcasts. Too critical of what the Lions do. I like some of his insights, disagree with some. But again, I look forward to the new podcasts.

Unqualified, unobjectionable opinions that sound like jaded local sports radio in the low traffic time slot, but only one voice. Big pass.

This show needs to dump Matt every time I come back to listen to this show I feel like this guy doesn’t even watch football and has no knowledge about the game terrible takes and I’m through until they change the host would give zero stars if I could. So please for the love of god locked on network replace this horrible host with someone better locked on do better this fan base deserves better.

I’ve been listening to Matt Dery and the Locked on Lions podcast for the past few years. You can tell Matt is a professional, especially when they do the crossover and you hear some of the other hosts. Matt is entertaining and produces the podcast on a regular basis. It’s nice to have this daily source of Lions related information that I can listen to while driving to (or from) work. Keep up the good work Matt!

This podcast was talking and Jered Goff going to the Colts not about who might the Lions be targeting in free agency. I’m not going to tune in again.

Just got into Podcasts and I am a big Lions fan. This show is a great listen! (Bonus points for him also being a Cleveland Guardians fan too… same as me!)

When I first subscribed to the podcast it was decent but lately I feel like I’m listening to 97.1. What could be analysis about the current state or trajectory of the team has turned into hot takes, opposing views and being butt hurt that people are Stafford fans outside of the Lions.

Overall he does a very good job and listen to every pod. For the love of god though, can we get off the stafford topic and move on.

Some really lazy takes here. The show’s very light on content, though Dery seems to think that being loud and angry can make up for it. Spoiler alert: it can’t. If you want intelligent thoughts and insight, look elsewhere.

If you want Lions news youre going to get Lions news. Only two complaints are Matt sometimes seems like he hates the Lions and I cant stand the random little low voice thing he does.

I get being critical of the Lions organization and the product that’s been put in front of us. But man, isn’t it supposed to be sometimes enjoyable to watch football and not dwell in that all the time? He’s forever harping on the team. It gets old, even for someone who harps on them plenty.

If you hate everything about everything, this is the podcast for you. If you are a person who likes anything, this podcast is not for you.

Love the info. He doesn’t talk about not lions things and I like that. He is amazing and there’s nothing else to say. Love you Matt!

I cut grass at a golf course and just bought season tickets. 5:30 every morning when I hop on my mower it’s the first podcast up!!!

Stafford’s been gone for 6 months now. Why are we still doing the oldest bit topic on the planet “is Stafford overrated/underrated?” Who cares, he’s not a Lion anymore.

Matt Derek just miss working for the Ticket because he’s constantly imitating Mike Valenti’s whole act. When he’s not interrupting the show with the constant commercials he’s adopting an overly negative view of everything while also not really doing anything except skim headlines you’ve already read if you follow the team. David Lock should get someone who knows football to do this show because this show isn’t even in the top 5 Lions podcasts right now.

Profesional, informative, and intelligent. Worth a listen. The reviewer who stopped listening because Matt was celebrating diversity in the front office is hilarious. Likely a joke of a person as well.
