Kenneth OrtizMediocre Content and Jerk HostThere’s dozens of podcasts hosted by reformed Christians. Pretty much all of them are better than this one. Frankly, the content of this podcast is just mediocre. But more than that, I’ve actually personally interacted with Tony several times over the years and, with all due respect, I’ve come to the conclusion that he is actually a pretty big jerk, most of the time. Not exactly representing Christ well. Don’t waste your time with this podcast.

ExceptionboyHelpful and enjoyableI enjoy listening to things that keep me engaged with the material. This is helpful for looking at reformed theology and what that means for me here and now.

GrumpojecExcellent, but starting to lose what makes it amazingTony and Jesse are both theologically sound and fantastic podcasters, and the Reformed Brotherhood shows both in spades. However, with their recent shift to moving along a systematic theology course where they go from subject to subject in a direct line, they have lost an element of what makes the show so good: their personality interplay. Tony is the brain of the show, and Jesse is the heart. In their normal, topical, format, Tony can explain in his analytical skill, Jesse can expound in a grounded, honest way that brings it down to earth. In the move to a more series-based format, Tony ends up talking far, far more than he used and Jesse ends up quietly interjecting every few minutes. When Jesse doesn't talk, Tony's never brought back to earth. The result can end up sounding more like a dry textbook than an unpacking of theological concepts. The latest episode has much, much more of Jesse than there has been in the past few months, and the show just works so much better when both hosts are lifting using their unique strengths. I've learned a lot over the past few years from these two, and with a few tweaks, they can continue doing that with the same aplomb that they have been!

PatMcaffe2628No value, usually off topicI can’t count how many episodes where they never get into the actual topic… Literally an ENTIRE episode they talked about some piano app and how much they like messages, and ANOTHER episode where they talker about Covid vaccinations…. Why even do the episode or even TITLE IT if you never talk about what you say you’ll talk about…. TL:DR such a waste of time

MightyQuinn55The Reformation got a whole lot BETTERI have listened to every episode of this podcast. Jesse and Tony have great relationships that comes through while listening. They engage in serious theological discussion from the reformed perspective but also with right amount jest & banter. It’s not only about theology but the practical living for Christ and genuine love for the brotherhood of believers.

davidiskandarA misleading titlesI went to episode 262 to listen to the podcast that you guys labeled “Trinity” and then 23 minutes in (I don’t know when they stopped that because I didn’t have it in me to listen further) they have been talking about vax stuff and their affirmation of the booster and all Covid stuff!!!!!! So why did you label the episode “Trinity”! I didn’t want to listen to my doctor but “Trinity”!!!! This is not your job. Sad.

Mike m wSad that Tony can throw heat but can’t take anyMy wife confronted Tony in the pub on his unrelenting attacks on a certain brother in the faith. He had his admin buddy throw her out of the pub cause he couldn’t handle the heat. Slanders other and then cry’s foul when someone calls him on it. You’ll love this paraphrase: I didn’t say that person was a heretic, I said they teach heresy. When asked if Steven Furtick is a hermitic: “ as far as I know, Steven Furtick is in good standing with the sbc and hasn’t been condemned by any church courts”. Whaaaaaat?!? Y’all have fun with this cast but you’d be wise to quit it. At least own it man.
-
IDontWantANicNameTony is obsessed with Defaming the character of Owen Strachanit’s sad that Tony loves to defame other brother’s characters and can’t handle being called out for his hypocrisy. Has to have his admin bff’s come in and rescue him from credible confrontation to his false claims of heresy on good Christian men. If you are going to charge others of heresy and Arianism, you’d better be able to back that crap up and not say “I was saying it was similar to Arianism.” What does that even mean? Anathema

Reformed CatholicTransub episodeAs a Protestant, I have to say that the episode on transub was a huge straw man. When they say that transub violates the levitical law because RCs believe to eat the substance of Christ body and blood and are cannibals. Yet Reformed, Lutheran, Anglican Orthodox, Copts all agree that the body and blood are truly given and taken (substance) I guess we are all cannibals. Also the examples of fathers brought up to prove trans sub, like Augustine, who said that Christ carried his own body in his hand and that what we see with our eyes is bread and wine but by faith we are told that it’s truly body and blood. JND Kelly also tells us that Augustine truly did believe in a real presence closer to Rome. I can talk about Justin martyr but I think if any one takes time to read the fathers they will see that a real substantial presence is and was believed by the church.

PuffyJacket482ThanksThese podcasts make me think more deeply about God; … and encourage me to run the race.

The_MizVery SureOne of my favorite Christ-centric podcasts. If I ever start my own podcast I will shamelessly rip off “Affirmations and Denials” - this opening to each show is so fun and entertaining. My only complaint is that sometimes the hosts are so so sure of their interpretation of scripture that it seems unfathomable to them that there may be a different valid interpretation. Still, gotta say, honor everyone and love the brotherhood.
-
cdcvhhLove affirmations and denialsReally appreciate how thorough and thoughtful Jesse and Tony are. I’ve grown a lot over the past year after having listened to them. Very sound theologically but you can tell that their doctrines don’t exist on their own but lead them towards doxology.
-
NCV435Edifying and InformativeI really enjoy this podcast. I enjoy the affirmation and denials and always learn a lot from the topics. I especially enjoyed the episode series on perspectives on communion
-
aallen554Reasonable rational theology/faithVery reasonable gents who are smart and witty but not fratboy humor. Theologically sound. “Honor everyone. “ That phrase just hit me right in the face. And these guys do just that.
-
Ignite116Honor everyone; Love the brotherhood!I have grown so much in understanding and conviction from listening to these two brothers discuss doctrine and practice. It has been both challenging and encouraging, and I am proud to be working with them in SORP! -Luke, Steady Anchor Podcast

Bob Vance-Vance RefrigerationAffirming the Reformed BrotherhoodToday, I’m affirming the Reformed Brotherhood Podcast. I recently started listening but I’ve made my way back through some past episodes. I really want to commend Tony and Jesse for graciously presenting their theological positions, remaining firm, but speaking the truth in love. They are confidently convinced, but cautiously careful to present their theology in a way that is not condescending and cocky, (yes, I used six words starting with “c” on purpose because... why not?) Those who affirm the truth of Reformed Theology so often fall prey to self-righteousness, proving truth is dangerous in the hands of sinful man. Tony and Jesse are careful to guard against self-righteousness. That’s good because, well... self-righteousness is bad, (just ask Jesus). I’m also thankful the Reformed Brotherhood Podcast has been able to successfully engage modern theological topics and the modern culture with timeless theology to remind us we are all called to fix our minds on the things above, a calling which has remained the same for believers throughout every epoch of time. Finally, I enjoy the affirmations and denials... so... I’m also denying, (because I want to play too), the negative reviews/ratings for this podcast. A good “rule of thumb” for evaluating star ratings/reviews is to remember one-star ratings are almost always emotionally charged because of a foundational disagreement. That means the evaluation is not about the production or faithful presentation of the content, but rather is most likely an objection to the content itself. My assumption is the one-star ratings are mostly a referendum on Reformed Theology writ large, and/or based on a general disagreement with a specific way to apply theology to an event or circumstance. Now illustrating: Baby + Bathwater—- woosch! Good stuff Tony and Jesse. I’m proud of you guys and thankful for the show. Keep it up!

J FarewellIncomplete understanding and false representationNormally I love your podcast and how you exegete and engage Scripture, but your most recent episode speaking out against Christ Church is a concealment of the truth and a violation against the 9th commandment. There seems to be this erroneous belief that Christians and the Church are not allowed to intercede on behalf of others. While I certainly do not endorse all of Doug Wilson’s teachings and beliefs, his actions at their city hall were misrepresented by you two. How does this not violate your claim to hold to the Creeds and Confessions? Heidelberg Question 112, Westminster Larger Questions 144-145, these reveal error in how you have dealt publicly with your neighbor.

Cody NealRobust Theology Done With IntegrityJust started listening to The Reformed Brotherhood a while back. As someone who is beginning to lean more Reformed theologically myself, I find this podcast to be very informative. The hosts also do a great job of connecting theology with our culture. I am just finishing up the latest episode on “persecution” and I have to say one of the things I value most about these guys is that they tackle such issues (like the one in this episode) with honesty and integrity. Some folks I know (and I am guilty too) defend certain issues primarily because the people involved in the issue belong to their own theological “camp,” if you will. But these guys seem to seek not to do such a thing. And for that, I commend them and would highly recommend this podcast to anyone really. Tony and Jesse, thank you for your hard work on putting this podcast together. I look forward to learning more from you guys.

1689_boiRich, meaty, nourishing, nerdy....and full of popcorn! The Reformed Brotherhood has become my favorite theology podcast for several reasons. They are as follows: 1. Tony and Jesse are both deeply soaked in the Scriptures and have a palpable love for the Lord. In addition, their knowledge of historical theology, church history and the contributions of saints of the past makes this a great way to learn about the Christian faith throughout the centuries. 2. Their sense of humor and brotherly chemistry is top notch. Silly, geeky, full of puns, and often laugh-out-loud funny. 3. I love me some popcorn. I have learned more about popcorn and ways to prepare it from this podcast than any other source of knowledge. The podcast Popcorn Theology, though enjoyable, has nothing on the Reformed Brotherhood. Thank you Jesse and Tony! Soli Deo Gloria. -Diego

mwashburn12Reformed Brotherhood is my JamSuper thankful for the providence of our Great God in stumbling upon this podcast while doing a random search. I recommend this podcast to all of my friends...their dialogue is very insightful, they are always true to the biblical text and reformed confession, and they even manage to add in some high quality humor. 180 episodes and counting—you can find just about any topic to suit your fancy. Love their affirmations and denials, and always great to hear what resources they recommend to deepen your faith and grow in the knowledge of God. Please never stop making new content!

iamtiredofthisCrazy goodTony and Jesse are funny brothers-in-law and their openings are so fun to listen to. Then the solid teaching and thinking. Great. Their eschatology doesn't agree with mine, but that sorts itself out eventually, doesn't it.
-
Jkshands1sSuper insightfulHey guys, I was looking for some info on revelation and came across your podcast. You guys have been super helpful. Also, Jesse, the City Alight affirmation was great. I can’t stop listening to them.

RynnelliDisgusting and RidiculousI listened to this supposedly Bible centered podcast episode today and I’m pretty stunned. Gross and nasty and no thank you.

SolaScript18Reforming with BrosI’m about 2 years old in my journey into The Doctrine of Grace. This podcast has been such a blessing in helping me find a more consistent, deep and Confessional grounding of my faith. My eyes have been opened to just how grand and gracious the Reformed Tradition is thanks to the hard work and mad bants of these awesome brothers. Please give them a listen, regardless of you identify as a Reformed Christian or not.

Nathan BracewellFrom a not NateThis podcast is an excellent resource for anyone looking to deepen their thinking about God and Scripture. Jesse and Tony (though Jesse is from New England and consequently an unrepentant Red Sox fan) have expanded my thinking and encouraged me on a number of levels. 10/10 for the bromance between brothers in law. Thank you for apologizing to all Nathans in your episode about Nates. It was weird to hear my name so many times (and by that I mean NATHAN, NOT NATE).

Kevin KunzenGrateful for Tony & JesseThanks guys for enriching my daily commute. Though I have been a Christian for a few years, I have become more interested in understand theology in just the past year. Being familiar with reformed theology, I found you two, and your podcast has been so beneficial and helpful in growing my understanding of these important matters. I’ve listened from episode one to episode 45 in two months time. I am going to be so sad when I have to wait for your new podcast to drop weekly like other common folk. You guys talk to me more everyday more than everyone but my wife. I feel like we are pretty much friends. On that note, shoutout to Tony for having a public Facebook profile. Not shoutout to Jesse because I can’t find your Facebook profile? Seriously dude if you’re gonna be a podcast celebrity, you gotta have a public Facebook profile. I hope this review makes your popularity grow or something. Also now I don’t have to feel guilty anymore when you ask me to leave a 5 star review during EVERY SINGLE EPISODE. I’ve done it now, okay? Sheesh. Alright, back to listening on Castbox.

PStarlingVery helpful & edifyingTony & Jesse do a great job of explaining and exploring theological topics. The episodes have been edifying and have brought me to a greater understanding of the topic discussed. I learn something from every episode. I especially loved the episode on adoption and how beautiful that truth is! Keep it up!

VKendjoBrotherhood TakeoverTony’s illustration of sound Biblical Theology and Jesse’s angelic voice perfectly complement each other in a way that entertains yet stresses the importance of accurate theology. Great podcast!!!
-
dtizzle115Learn how to swim!!!These two Brothers in Christ are running a theologically rich and intellectually challenging show. When you start listening you might say... oh this isn’t that deep and then all of a sudden BAM!!!!! You step out of the kiddie pool into the deep in!!!! They turn from everyday conversation to theological meat and potatoes on a dime and I can’t get enough. Keep up the great work Brothers!!
-
jethrojesssListen! You better listen or else Tony will punch you in your sanctified face.
-
Adam KareusGreat discussionI have listen to many of the episodes of Reformed Brotherhood and have enjoyed them all. They present their ideas in a clear manner that is easy to grasp as well as demonstrate they have put time and energy into their study of each issue. I also appreciate how they are humble enough to admit when a certain topic is not in their “wheel house” and so they might not articulate it as well as others. Enjoyable and edifying.

Justin The Dark KnightJudgmentalNooooooooooooooooope. Just. No. No thank you.

RWGEngaging, edifying and funThis is the third podcast I’ve experienced focused on life and belief through the lens of reformed theology. I love it and would wholeheartedly recommend The Reformed Brotherhood. They really try to make complicated ideas, that are relevant to me and my life, simpler to understand.
