Won me compliments on my trip to Portugal!
Just wrapping up a trip to Lisbon and Porto and have to leave a 5 star review! I went from speaking zero Portuguese to getting heartfelt compliments and expressions of surprise and delight from locals at my (still halting but functional) Portuguese. Over and over I heard that it’s rare for tourists to make a real effort to learn Portuguese. Any success of mine is due to listening to this podcast over and over and over and practicing along with Susana. The lessons are practical, useful and entertaining. Muito obrigada Susana!

    Highly recommend
This is one of the most enjoyable language learning podcasts I’ve listened to - I especially love how there is very little talking at the beginning and the end, and how the host just jumps right in and then ends the lesson swiftly - this makes it enjoyable to listen to lots of episodes back to back to back. (compared to other podcasts that introduce themselves every episode, tell you to subscribe, rate and review, etc gets tiring listening to over and over and if you’re driving or doing house projects you cannot stop every time to fast forward to the actual lesson)

The best podcast to learn European Portuguese
I have been looking for this kind of podcast for many years. It allows people of different levels to learn or improve their knowledge in Portuguese. The chapters are labeled in the correspondent level and she tries to use English only to introduce the topic or to explain a little in the chapters for beginners. I recommend it.

    “Practice makes permanent”
My high school French teacher always said “practice makes permanent” and listening to these podcasts (5+ times each ep.) and trying to absorb more and more each time has been really helpful in my comprehension. I’m using other services for a more formal approach but I really appreciate all the material here and the variety there is. Muito, muito obrigada!!

    The Perfect Portuguese Podcast
I will be serving a mission in Portugal to teach more about Jesus Christ, and am training and learning the Portuguese language. I turn some of these on in the morning and listen during every free moment during the day. They serve every learner where they are—no matter if you’re a beginner and need to learn nouns or you’re advanced and need help perfecting the accent or conjugations, this is the PERFECT PODCAST!!

    Susana is an awesome teacher!
I am not great at learning new languages. I have been using this podcast for about 3 weeks and can actually understand a bit of Portuguese! That's amazing for me because I studied Spanish for years in school and I'm terrible at comprehension. Susana has a great with explaining little details. I feel like she's a friend trying to help me learn. I recommend using headphones so you can really hear the pronunciation. This is a difficult language- but it's fun to learn!

Best for listening, Excellent study materials
Wow. This course is simply superb. The audio podcasts are well arranged AND supported with nicely arranged printed materials. Enjoy your walk or your trip with the audio, then go to the supporting web page for that episode and get even more material to try out. This is better than using a tourist guide approach. I use this with my young kids, and their native Portuguese speaking mother (and my wife) fully approves of the pronunciation and vocabulary choices. No accidental Brazilian variants here. Ah, and don't use "voce" as a beginner as you'll likely insult the other person. Well, at least we nipped that before getting into trouble.

The best European Portuguese learning site
This is by far the best Standard European Portuguese language learning site available on the web. Each module (rated for the student's level) touches on a different aspect of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and even culture. The modules are highly absorbable in length and content - you don't get overwhelmed. Variety is the engine that makes the Portuguese Lab so enjoyable as a learning tool. A ‘Vocabulary’ module might introduce a set of words and verbs about a subject (Time) or a real life situation (At the Coffee Shop). This module with be followed up with an ‘Action’ module which places the new vocabulary in simple contexts (grammar), e.g. how to order a cup of espresso. Finally, the ‘Dialogue’ module contains a short scenario in which the vocabulary and contexts are played in a real life dramatization. Not all the modules follow this structure – some contain just a short story for listening comprehension practice and new vocabulary while others are focused on grammar or verbs subjects. Regardless of the module type, each module contains a complete audio file of the lesson, a pdf of the audio file, and exercises (audio and pdf) to review and reinforce the lesson. A new module appears almost every week. Best of all, Susana fully supports the Portuguese Lab by making herself accessible via email to questions (the response usually comes within 24 hours) about anything in the modules. Her dedication to this project is evident in its excellent production quality. Her love of the Portuguese language is obvious from the care she puts into teaching it.

    Perfect!
I have found this to be a great way to learn the sounds and patterns of everyday speech and vocabulary in an enjoyable easy way. The first 100 verbs are a especially useful very efficient way to start out quickly, even if you can conjugate on paper nothing is better than an audio for listening to, and speaking these words regularly in the beginning. The lessons are well thought out and content is released consistently. Great job!
