BP WriterLove this podcast, such helpful info!Loved episode 821 and your conversation with Dr. Jim Jackson. What really resonated with me was learning about delirium and how trauma can come in many shapes and sizes, not only from abuse or combat. Learning that there is a test for PTSD is helpful. Tons of amazing takeaways in this episode! 🙏

T.S.G 1The art of conversationI recently discovered this podcast and have been pleasantly surprised. There seems to be an ever increasing number of podcasts available for us to peruse. Generally this can only be a positive, information and knowledge are power! Sadly there are a few that lack substance and/or quality. Fortunately, Behind The Shield doesn’t fall into that category. The art of the long form conversation isn’t something you’ll typically hear much these days. Not only are the guests high quality, interesting and educational...but the host actual allows them to speak and tell their unique stories. It’s been a great addition to the podcast library. Great job keep facilitating the knowledge sharing entertainment!
-

rw coryTransformative storytellingI laughed, I cried, I was inspired! This podcast truly has the power to bring trauma to the surface where it can be acknowledged, addressed and overcome. Jsimp31How to Overcome Extreme AdversityThis is a great podcast for people that want to hear human side of life as a veteran, first responder or world traveler. The stories are real and raw and get at the heart of adversity, suffering and overcoming. The guests are top notch public servants, vets and other interesting people with a vast array of backgrounds and different ideas about the world. James brings a lot of value out of his guests through a clear structure and engaging conversation, and adds a lot through his own vulnerability, consistency and drive to make this show standout. I walk away refreshed after each episode.

Whether leadership examples of those in the first responder community, training tips from those with extensive background strengthening the strongest, or stories of others overcoming significant challenges, EVERYONE can learn from the conversations James has with those tasked with keeping our communities safe. EventernhInspiring, motivational, Real.I found this podcast a year ago and it has quite literally changed my life. Mr. Geering and his guests have inspired me and helped me heal from the trauma of the fire service. Hearing others stories and knowing I was not alone has been overwhelming positive. Some topics that have been raised have made me realize that I did not even know I still had so much I had not dealt with. My experiences pale in comparison to many on this podcast. I am grateful for those who share their most personal struggles. I highly recommend this podcast. Thank you to all who have come on and thank you to Mr. Geering for facilitating such a beneficial podcast. Stay safe and God bless.

cjp808All Around Excellent PodcastJames has created something truly special here. The guests he chooses to interview highlight many important elements of simply living a balanced life, but he provides plenty of insight about how those methods can apply to the attitudes, behaviors and most importantly the health of first responders. I found this podcast at a turning point in my life. After years in the fitness industry, I began to seriously explore a long held dream of pursuing a career as a firefighter. This podcast has provided me with many of the tools and areas of focus that I believe will help me excel in this profession. Thanks James. Keep up the great work!

They have a passion for telling their stories and helping first responders and anyone dealing with issues related to psychological problems that affect us after experiencing traumatic events in our personal and professional lives. Knowing that you’re not alone in the battle against PTSD and depression is one of the most positive experiences that someone on the frontlines will experience through listening to James and his guests tell their stories. It’s nearly impossible to listen to at least one of these podcasts in it’s entirety and not walk away with a new perspective. Thank you James for everything you have done for firefighters and first responders everywhere. Hambone
