As someone just starting a career as an avalanche professional this my fave podcast. It’s highly educational from emotional well being, self-care, technical know how and best of all its entertaining. If you’re not in the mountains, listening to this podcast in the next best thing.

    Amazing, educational, life saving
This podcast has connected me to the snow science industry on a level that goes beyond reading incident reports and recreational courses. It’s easy for recreational users to get complacent. This podcast got me plugged into ISSW, industry professionals, and what challenges different forecast centers are facing. From complex terrain choices to regularly checking the integrity of equipment, I take a little bit of each episode into the mountains with me. Thank you Caleb and the crew behind this podcast for keeping me and my “curious fascination for avalanches” anxiously waiting for the next episode to drop. I’d love to hear some information / surveys on wearing beacons inbounds / side country.

    Essential Information for Backcountry Folks
The Avalanche Hour has quickly become a wealth of information on avalanche science and storytelling. The production and editing are top notch and the host, Caleb, does a great job of leading conversations into interesting terrain. Definitely reccomend to anyone interested in BC skiing and avalanches!

    Advice from Experts
The podcast addresses interesting and informative topics. Caleb is effective at guiding the conversation, but letting his guests share their knowledge and be the main focus. Episode 2.5 with Craig Gordon is a good listen. My only critique is that Caleb could speak with more energy and personality to avoid sounding so monotone.
  • SkiMT241
    required listening
As Caleb points out in almost all of his podcasts, the best gift the white dragon can give you is a close call. I would argue that a near miss shared by someone else is even better, and the Avalanche Hour teases out close calls from guests in an informal and non-judgmental setting. The openness and candor that is displayed on The Avalanche Hour is second to none. Caleb manages to corner the upper echelon of avalanche workers from all associated fields, and create an open dialog concerning current events, training, mitigation, guiding, and recreation. This Podcast is sure to turn into a treasure trove of info, and become mandatory listening for all parties guilty of working or recreating in avalanche terrain. Like all podcasts, the first several episodes were required to work out all of the format and production kinks. Don't let this scare you away. Caleb quickly irons out a methodic format, entertaining guests, ramps up the production quality. I would recommend starting from episode 1, season 1 and Binge listening until you are caught up. No better way to prepare for the upcoming season!
