Soft ball, repetitive, uninsightful interviewer questions. Full of buzz words, consistent failure to explore technology in any depth or challenge science or business models of participants. Worse than worthless, because you provide a platform which implicitly communicates advocacy for (at least several) really bad ideas ! Schneider Electric should be better than this.

    Greenwashing continues
CCS episode in Feb was pure greenwashing garbage. I stupidly decided to give this podcast another go and the most recent maritime Hydrogen bollox is further greenwashing garbage. And just thermodynamically a mile off the tech pace. The interviewer didn’t bother to enquire exactly how Hydrogen gets transported with its -250C liquefaction temperature or why wasting 70% renewable electricity to produce Hydrogen to then turn back into electricity makes any sense. Permanently unsubscribing. Shame on you Wood Mackenzie just another transition delay protagonist dressed on green clothes.

    Inspiring and informative
Terrific episode on sustainable sea transport. Look forward to more.

Used to be a great show…
But the change in host, and apparent change in focus, has pretty much ruined this once excellent podcast. I haven’t unsubscribed yet, but probably will soon if there are not some improvements…

    Disappointed and Frustrated
I can’t recall ever reviewing a podcast, but felt the need to share. Prior to Shayle’s departure, this podcast used to be THE best in the clean tech biz. Now, it not only feels as if the host is ill-informed, but the general messaging feels as if it’s it borders on Oil & Gas propaganda. I do hope WoodMac and the production team can right the ship, but based on the first episodes, I’ll probably be tuning this one out.

    Disappointed in the changes
Need to find a new source for my clean tech info. This new crew/format isn’t cutting it.

    The New Show Is Terrible
This was one of the best pods in clean tech. The new version feels like a garbled, discombobulated, buzz word vomit on clean energy. Wood Mack, y’all butchered this.

    New host ignores guests
I loved the show with Shayle. It was always the best podcast on the energy sector. New host drones on about his own (seemingly misled) opinions and assertions and seems to redirect guest sentiment into his own conclusions which don’t line up logically with what the guests are saying. In the last episode he keeps going on about the importance of oil and gas for reliability and how unreliable renewables are. Variability isn’t the same as unreliability! Even when the guest points this out, he just keeps insisting on being an oil and gas shill. Also kept saying how we need to move the goalpost of renewable adoption back to the late half of the century— NO, we need a renewables based grid now. There are enough shills in petrol companies telling us to delay. Get someone pro renewable energy who knows what they’re talking about who listens to guests. Until then, one of my favorite podcasts ruined.

    Used to be good
This new host talks about his opinion and his own thoughts too much. Focus on the interviews with the guest!

    New host… such a disappointment
I loved this show with Shayle Kahn. Super-smart, super-informed analysis. I hoped we’d get something in the same league from the new host. Having listened to first episode, I can say definitively: My hopes are dashed. The guest was interesting, but questions for the guest were not just analytically in-rigorous— they were simply ill-informed. Maybe the host has an area of expertise- but the energy transition does not seem to be it, and I’m not sure why he’s hosting a pod on it.

Sad to see Wood Mackenzie Ousting Energy/Climate Journalism
To see Clean Tech Media go first was understandable (we thought), Wood Mac was just reorganizing and internalizing parts of their business. But with this latest shift in our sting of the inner change and the energy gang hosts, it’s no absolutely clear that Wood MacKenzie is only out for their own personal interest, rather than adding meaningful conversation to the energy space (when it is needed now more than ever). They have dismantled the two most meaningful Energy and Climate space podcast discussions, removing an important critical weekly thread that now goes dark in lieu of [fill in the blank Wood MacKenzie person here].

    Great Perspective
Love the expert investor perspective on the topic of transition and how that is considered as a key component along with tech and policy. Many other podcasts tend to focus on only one aspect. Well done.

    Excellent energy podcast
I’ve been listening to this show for the last 4 years, and still wait anxiously for the next episode. It is approachable for people new to the industry (as I was when I started listening), but also very informative for those deep in the sector. Also, quite entertaining!

They land RIGHT in the sweet spot
I’m a regular person, not in the business, just an intelligent citizen who is develop a deep interest in and care about the subject matter. These gents thread that experience-needle perfectly, talking on a high level but with limited inside baseball. They do something else that’s tricky too, as they clearly are aspirational and have spent their lives on this issue, and yet they are unpreachy, unjudgy, moored in a practical reality. There’s just enough personality (and the two hosts are very different), plenty of editing, and good guests. I’m not a huge podcast person but this one has been a revelation for me.

Thought provoking, intelligent and all things energy!
I love listening to Stephen and Shayle talk through energy related topics. The show is easy to follow even for an energy newbie. And even if you’re an energy guru, there are still so many interesting topics that they go through on the podcast.

    Every show every time.
I listen to this show as soon as it shows up in my phone. I don’t always agree with the presenters but they do a good job of discussing the issues and bringing on experts and explaining issues beyond my areas of engineering.

Tour Guides of the Energy Transition
Stephen and Shayle’s commentary is a critical component to my personal learning and research as an engineer working in the renewable energy industry. They are well informed and draw from their vast professional network and life experience to help explain difficult concepts to their audience. An added bonus is their great wit and sense of humor! More decarbonization drafts please.

    Absolutely exceptional podcast
As an undergrad engineer set on working in the renewables sector, I cannot express how much I love this podcast. The co-hosts are extremely articulate, the information is captiving, and I have found myself coming back over and over again throughout the years. Given how important the energy transition and climate debate is coming, I believe anyone that has a curiosity for learning should subscribe to this podcast and give it at least a few listens. The first step to joining the global climate movement is education.

    Great pod! A weekly treat!
Hats off to Stephen and Shayle! Look forward to new episodes every week. The deep decarbonization draft was so good I listened to it three times to take it all in, if only Stephen had taken off-shore wind with the second overall pick. Found the community solar episode very helpful as I decide how best to mitigate my personal impact on the precious biosphere. Keep it coming! -Ben Beverly, MA

    gtm podcast review
GTM research informs us about projects big and small. They discuss important renewable energy issues, told by industry leaders, like the vocal jighar shah From the future of utility scale wind and solar, to political happenings, such as the drama of trump and mueller. Their hosts are knowledgeable industry leaders, I always look forward to their discussions that sometimes involves net meters!

    100% Audio Energy
Stephen and Shayle provide the rare 1-2 of great entertainment and powerful information. They don't sugar-coat the distrubing data undrelying the climate crisis, but they are usually able to avoid despair with interesting insights that keep some cautious optimism alive. Shayle blends his super-quant brain with a easy vernacular to break down complex numbers and get to the heart at where the problems and solutions are. Stephen is always able get great guests on the pod and seamlessly connnect seemingly disparate global events into what they mean for the energy transition and climate movement. 100% Audio Energy.

Good podcast but support false and misleading “journalists”.
Steven and shale have some great episodes and seem to care about truth in journalism for their own show. Oddly, they support a popular false narrative about “Musk hating media” - all this because he (perhaps naively) expects journalist to have “some” basic standards of truth. Perhaps because they are not actual journalists, they do not appreciate the damage an untrustworthy media can do to our democracy. Even so, I do recommend their insightful and honest podcasts.
  • apawpaw
    Very informative
This is a great show. They talk about interesting subjects and the usually do a good job explaining them with the right amount of detail (for me, at least!)
