Essential Podcast for Product Designers & Developers
This podcast way to stay up to date with general and niche trends in digital product design. Federico and John do an amazing job covering the tech industry highlights you need to know while also casting an editorial spotlight on smaller indie apps you would never find without them. A must, and the plus subscription is easily worth it to skip the ads and get it a day early.

Too much advertising and membership talk…
Okay podcast, but it’s become so focused on discussing membership, and along with too many ads, it’s now hard to listen to.

but cupertino is italian for a small cup right
hi guys, i have been off social media since i moved out of sunnyvale (or a mile north of cupertino) a few years ago, though i go back to see my specialist doc there every few months. anyway while i'm no expert on italian food specifically depending on what transportation and cuisine you can grok, i'd definitely say the nearby shopping plaza on wolfe road with the 99 ranch has a lot of authentic taiwanese, korean, and japanese places that my taiwanese husband used to praise. you can basically go to any of them and if you like either chirashi or pork congee, you'll get something good. we also used to really like the thai restaurant on the corner of el camino real and i think it's matilda street across from the trader joe's. finally, if you've got a way to travel about four miles north, the best restaurants i think are in downtown mountain view, my favorite is little lamb hot pot for well, hot pot, and break fast sandwiches at roger's (also great donuts there but i feel a true american jerk for suggesting donuts and i bet italy has better things that fit that need . but the bagels and egg sandwiches are straight new york deli great). i feel there are a few other places there as well, but these are the ones i can name. oh and there is at least a few "italian" markets named "piazzis" and "zanottos" within a few miles of apple park- i think they are more california half outside grocery's with delicious grilled meats, but hey, it's still pretty good for fresh stuff and the prices are less insane than california in general. anyway, i'll be down there during wwdc getting medical treatment nearby and thinking of all you guys in your vr rigs and flying cars and what not. seriously though mountain view downtown is the best nearby place for a good selection. ps as i know you love the pokémon also, there's a big honking mall nearby called great mall. if you like the pokémon go just go there and you will get a ton of cool ones. i swear every time i end up there and need socks or something i end up at great mall with crazy pokémon stops to help assuage me. peace out from your smaller but not smallest i think fan , fox peterson ,

    Never mention a shortcut again!
I am so done with this tedious podcast. This Federico fellow is beclowning himself and must spend his whole life constructing shortcuts, shortcuts, and even more shortcuts, shortcuts, and shortcuts. Get a life man! How does this contribute to society? Why waste your life on nonsense like this. Please discuss Apple products such as iPad and useful software. I assume you have some expertise there. Just get off this buzzword kick and get on with a real life reviewing iPad and it’s software.

    Excruciatingly Boring
The writing for the site is good, but the podcast is really boring.

    Disappointing Club Experience
I decided to pay for their content because I found it worthwhile. So I paid for an entire year of Club for $120.00. I had nothing but problems figuring out their feeds (they’ve made it complicated) and had issues with the podcast feeds as well. I contacted them through the email address on the Club site and crickets…waited two weeks and sent them another email and contacted them on Mastodon and crickets… No help or response at all from either of them. So, they’ll take your money but could care less if you aren’t getting what you paid for. I noticed two of the Club podcasts haven’t been updated in months either and a lot of the articles on the club feed (as best as I could get it to work) seemed to be the same as on the free site. It’s a poorly designed site and now, after this experience I feel it may be deliberately confusing. I’ve lost all respect for two guys I’ve been listening to and reading articles from for years. I went from giving them money to unsubscribing from anything they’re a part of. I’d ask for a refund but I guess when you never respond to your customer’s emails that rules out that option. So yeah, seriously disappointed in these guys.

    Podcast about Shortcuts
Federico can’t put together thoughts without mentioning Shortcuts. At one point he was rambling about Focus modes and was unable to finish the thought so just said that “… all of this will be run in Shortcuts”. And when asked about his transition to Mac (from iPad), “Shortcuts”.

    Subscription?? $8 a month, yuck
I didn’t watch close enough and added this podcast to Apple Podcasts and got suckered into paying $7.99. I already get this same feed on Overcast for free. I was trying to move all my podcasts from OverCast to Apple Podcasts and didn’t know AppStories was Pay to Play here. Oh well, live and learn. Fortunately I was able to cancel the subscription, but that doesn’t stop the first month payment to go through. Which it did very quickly.

    First Class Passengers This Way
Really ad heavy, which I guess is going to continue even as they spend great amounts of time to push people towards what has to be the most premium Mac club going. They really seem to know their core audience, like a rancher knows cattle. Tier 3 for the jokes.

    Love it
Love hearing about which apps they use to get their work done, especially Viticci (I'm not super familiar with Voorhees).

    Obsidian comments + Condescending host
Gotta love this show, they aren’t educated institutionally smart people, therefore when they find a feature of an app they don’t understand “Knowledge Map”, they question the point. While at the same time they’ll spend weeks trying to convince you why what they do and use is better than how we do it. Federico is a condescending entitled know it all. Don’t waste your time listening to him, I love John, he’s so kind and listens to his partner so respectively, not something I can say for the Ticii. I miss when they loved Apple more though, rather than complain about Apple. Google translate “replacing” the text of something with its translation is great for traveling, but terrible for trying to learn the language. I use translate on the go to learn a new character quickly and I’d like to know what the words look like in Mandarin as well as the translation, for my use, Apple’s way will be more suitable.

Two knowledgeable Apple geeks going deep
Viticci and Voorhees are two genial experts on Apple products (hardware and software) who go deep on various topics. Perfect way to learn quickly about how real experts manage their Apple devices. Very enjoyable if you’re into that sort of thing.

    Great podcast…
I love listening to John and Federico talk about apps and what they are doing with them. Their conversations get me thinking about what I am doing with the apps I use. They help me imagine what’s possible with regards to what I’m doing on my device.

    Great supplement to MacStories
A top podcast with two great hosts to complement one of my favourite websites.

    Sponsors vs. Show Length ratio...
Was surprised and a tad disappointed to see that there were 3 sponsor breaks for a 35-minute episode...that’s a pretty high ratio that I found distracting. still enjoying the show...but please consider having less sponsors ... :)

My Favorite Apple-Based Website Gives Me an Amazing Podcast
I was so happy when MacStories launched its own podcast. It is very unique in the Apple podcasting space which focuses more on apps rather than hardware or rumors. It was a segment of the community that was desperately needed and ably fulfilled.

One of the Best Tech Podcast
What makes this no nonsense podcast great is that it’s truly useful. It offers insight into how best to use your iOS products. It doesn’t blather on about an app, Voorhees and Viticci will tell you the apps good as well as bad points and explains how it might fit in your workflow.

    Great podcast!
    Really like this one.

    Top-shelf interviews and production quality
Federico Viticci is one of the most interesting writers in the iOS/iPad universe; this new podcast is a real winner. I just listened to the Adriaan de Jongh interview. Wonderful stuff! Who would have imagined a multi-year collaboration between an artist and a programmer? What creative energies does it take to design a game during the 53-hour train trip from Chicago to San Francisco? Apps appear to be about processors and interfaces; they're really about psople. Federico and John capture that well here. I have no idea how they produce such superio audio quality on their shows; that really helps the show be relaxing and enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Federico & John make it great
I have been looking for a new podcast covering the world of iOS apps for several months and AppStories has been great. I had never heard of MacStories or AppStories until #374 of Mac Power Users when Federico "iPad Sensei" Viticci was a guest on the show. After listening to his interview with David and Katie, I knew I had to find out more about him. After looking him up, I found this AppStories podcast and it has been exactly what I was looking for. John and Federico select great content to discuss and present it very well. They have different user personalities which brings separate views but in a complementary way. If you haven’t listened to any of their shows, give it a try. I promise you wont be disappointed.

    Intro headache inducing
Great show, but the techno intro music is headache inducing. The thumping bass needs to be turned off.

    Another winner
I really enjoy Federico everywhere and have to say I'm new to John. I think the topics and analyses are smart. It's more than just app reviews. I love the depth.
  • Shansheezy
    Awesome content
This podcast is great! They discussed meaningful topics rather than "let's talk about any app that you found this week". The variety is great. It's short and straight to the point.

    Short and Sweet
App Stories is focused and highly informative. Although I don't want to end up with as many apps as John has, I will definitely download and try two that were mentioned in Episode 2. Looking forward to learning more and gaining appreciation for new and established apps.

This is the podcast I have been waiting for....
John and Federico are great together and finally there is a podcast that focused exclusively on Apps and how they impact our lives. This is not just do an overlay, but a true deep dive on what went into the Apps you love. The backstories are amazing and the guys have a real interesting point of view. Also - these guys are with MacStories, so you know they are legit.
