Free Birth Society

481

The Free Birth Society Podcast features honest, gripping, inspiring, and transformative freebirth stories hosted by the founder Emilee Saldaya in conversation with wild women worldwide. In the vast tapestry of childbirth experiences, a thread runs undisturbed, unmedicated, and true to its ancestral roots: freebirth. This differs from your usual home birth with doulas or midwives in attendance. Freebirth stands apart, where birthing is solely in the hands of the birthing woman, accompanied only by her intuition, rhythms of nature, witnessed by her family. The Free Birth Podcast invites you to a unique corner of the universe where we dive deep into the raw essence of birth, untamed and unassisted. Pushing against the tides of modern obstetrics and its violent approach, we venture into stories of women who've boldly chosen to claim this primal rite of passage. Here, we're not merely sharing tales; we're challenging the status quo and redefining the very narrative of childbirth. As we unravel discussions on rights in childbirth, dissect varied care models, and amplify the unfiltered voices of freebirthing women from around the planet, our purpose remains clear: to spotlight the distinction and significance of wild birth. This isn't an argument against the myriad ways women choose to birth, but rather an affirmation that freebirth has its revered space in the continuum of birth choices.Join us in celebrating a movement that underscores the powerful message and has changed the lives of thousands: Birth, in its purest form, is not a medical event but a profoundly personal journey. The Free Birth Society Podcast is your compass to navigate and rediscover that journey.*Freebirth = Birthing in the absence of any hired professionals, away from medical institutions or their agents. Also known as family birth, unassisted birth, wild birth. *Sovereign birth = Birthing outside of the medical paradigm, inclusive of births with authentic midwives and doulas. We include many stories on the show where women birthed outside of the medical system with doulas and radical birth keepers. While these births are not freebirths, they are certainly sovereign births!

Emilee is a joke and shall be treated as such
What do you call Emilee when she’s teaching midwifery? A “mid-wit” instead of a midwife! Why did Emilee Saldaya start teaching midwifery? Because she heard it was a great way to “deliver” a paycheck without the “labor”!
  • Karen_E_D
The other end of the pendulum
There’s true problems with the western medical birth system, but FBS’s teachings can be just bad because they are the extreme other side.

    Lies, lies, lies
I am disturbed at hearing Emilee's description of attending a birth in which a baby "took a long time to breathe" and "the mom lost almost the most blood i had ever seen." But what did Emilee say when the mom asked if this was normal and the dad asked if this much bloodloss was ok? She lied. She was open and laughed about how she didn't answer them truthfully. Emilee is extremely problematic and I honestly think she is causing women and babies to die unnecessarily due to her terrible advice.
  • s.nollen
    Listener Beware
Emilee is not an unlicensed midwife/radical birthkeeper and misrepresents her experience with birth out of the system (she has personally attended fewer than 10, some say less than 5, out of system births). She speaks with authority about “variations of normal” that may not be earned. Do your due diligence if using this podcast to inform your understanding of unassisted birth.
  • Cassidymama
    Yikes.
I hope Emilee is able to actually listen to the women that feel harmed by her behavior and take responsibility on some level— instead of continuing to deny deny deny and place blame onto the women of the community she created.
  • Mountainmama88
    Pretty packaging
Please seek out freebirth community elsewhere. The dogma here is not safe. Birth can go really well when left undisturbed, but it can also go really wrong and manipulating women to feel shame and avoid seeking help when they are experiencing complications is just unethical. They are good at marketing but don't even have enough birth experience to be pushing this agenda, they just want your money. Don't buy in!
  • Ravellous
    Insufferable
The podcast interviewer is insufferable, constantly interrupting guests and policing how they should be sharing their stories.

    Let down
After a traumatic birth I found this space and thought it was safe. But that does not appear to be the case. It’s truly disappointing I do wish she would address the stories but would it be honest?

    Scam artist and Grifter
It has been found out that this woman has attended very few births and does not have the qualifications or credentials she claims to. Emilee Saldaya and Yolande Clark are con women. They believe that you are walking around with their money in your pockets. Beware. There are much better, free birth resources, and podcast out there. Do not get sucked in to their million dollar marketing.

    No way
This woman would rather you and your baby die than give you real advice !NOT A VARIATION OF NORMAL

    Dangerous liar
Once you discover Emilee doesn’t have the birth experience she claims to have and she is so smug and casual about infant loss, you will think twice before using this podcast as a form of education or inspiring yourself. Steer clear. Red flags everywhere. Much better Freebirth resources literally anywhere else.

    Dangerous
The stories might be nice but the philosophy that she puts out there is too simple. Feeling like everything will just work out in a free birth because it’s a natural thing that women have been doing since the dawn of time is just outright nonsense. And this woman doesn’t provide any tools to do so. She just convinces you that it’s all up to you and if you’re strong enough surely you can do it. You should always have a trained professional to support you in birth.
  • Freethinkingmama
    DANGEROUS
I used to love this podcast, however the host has become aggressive to her guests over the past few years - she interrupts them and tries to change the way they see their own stories. Her “private community” is cult like and she preaches very harmful dogma regarding birth. She gives very unqualified medical advice. Warning to any moms- she is a very dangerous person.
  • Summitgirl13
    Used to love
I used to love listening to these podcast episodes. But more recently it feels like Emilee is always interrupting the women who are sharing their intimate stories and interjecting in condescending ways. I honestly can’t stand to listen anymore. It also feels like she cherry picks episodes that will promote the narrative on FBS that she wants.
  • Think4urself123
    Dangerous Ideologies- expecting mamas beware
I once loved Freebirth Society but have since been made aware of just how harmful the dogma and ideology being spewed by these women- Emilee and Yolande- is. I would encourage all mamas seeking a Freebirth NOT to engage with, or support FBS. Go elsewhere for your information. There have been lots of very disturbing reports of infant loss, and bad (dangerous) medical advice from these women and their membership/podcast/etc.
  • xxwarrior
    Life Changing
This podcast is a dangerous funnel for the FBS scam machine. This woman preys on women and families and has used her fake “schools” to scam hundreds of women out of thousands of dollars. This woman is a fraud who didn’t even finish high school. Don’t get caught in her web.
  • laurennikkie9841
    Emilee Saldaya is a liar
Please be careful when listening to this podcast. Emilee does not have the birth experience she claims to. This podcast pushes a very dogmatic and one sided view of complications during birth without evidence. There are other free Birth podcasts that are far better and less dogmatic.

    Cult behavior
Please do yourself a favor an listen to ANY other birth podcast. The black and white extremist thinking of Emilee and Yolanda has scammed many people out of their money and lead to too many unnecessary infant deaths during birth. Search Reddit for FreeBirthSocietyScam.

    Do not fall for it
So many women have. And women and babies have been hurt as a result. “Variations of normal” is not a thing. There are medical emergencies no matter what Emilee says. Listen to your heart and your body. Especially if you are a pregnant woman, you are at an especially vulnerable place. That is exactly what she is looking for. Be careful and choose your body and your baby over anything

    Don’t believe everything you hear
Emilee uses this platform to lie about her experience with birth, claiming to have attended 1000s of births. She hasn’t. She makes dangerous claims. I support free birth/ sovereign birth. But don’t get your information here.
  • Jessyl19
A former guest who can no longer stay silent
I was once a guest on this podcast (twice) and at the time, I believed in the vision it presented. But behind the scenes, I experienced something very different. What I encountered was not empowerment, but control. Not reverence, but contempt - particularly toward men. There’s a deeply rooted hatred of the masculine energy that pulses through this platform. It’s not conscious leadership. It’s not healing. It’s domination cloaked in spiritual language. I’ve watched how men are belittled, emotionally cornered, and silenced - and how women are encouraged to see this as strength. I can no longer support a space that distorts the sacred feminine by punishing the sacred masculine. This platform has caused real harm. And as someone who once lent my voice to it, I now reclaim that voice - and say clearly: this is not the medicine we need. This space has become an echo chamber, not a place for growth. And echo chambers ain’t it.
  • Goddes501
    Great stories, beware host
The women’s stories which are told in the episodes are pure gold. I’ve been a long time listener- I’ve heard every episode and the longer it has gone on, the more extreme Emilee’s ideology has gotten and I’ve since realized how much she censors and controls the narrative. I recommend listening mainly to the earliest episodes and be careful of getting too close to Emilee or her company which is a racket and definitely on the spectrum for a brainwashing cult.
  • BlueyMama:3
    The Grift is Real
A woman who literally makes a profit by telling women that doctors are out to hurt them and midwives are bad - but then promotes her “Radical Birth Keeper School” midwives. It’s hypocrisy at its finest. So all midwives are bad unless Emilee can personally make a buck from them somehow? Emilee Saldaya preys on the fears of vulnerable soon-to-be mothers and uses them to fund her campaign against evidence-based birth. She doesn’t care how many women or babies die, sustain birth injuries, or live with lifelong damage. All she cares about is money. She and her ideology are dangerous to women and babies.

    Emilee is a Bully
Loved this podcast but go no further and don’t give her a dime. Her Lighthouse paid “community” is an overpriced dead zone. She is hostile to pretty much everyone -she expects you to think critically of “the system” but put critical facilities aside when it comes to her. Emilee is a chauvinist ideologue who will accuse any other birth perspective of being “medically captured.” She is likely ultimately responsible for new born deaths that could have been easily prevented with antibiotics. She is completely irresponsible and as more criticism surfaces she acts increasingly erratic. The stories on this podcast are great- they are not hers. She’s just collecting and profiting off of other women’s experiences.
  • TexasMK1
Long time listener, finally waking up to the lies
I started listening 5+ years ago. I have seen a change the last 2-ish years that caused me some concern. Emilee has become more and more dogmatic in her speech. She will tell women to do whatever they want but she clearly believes there is a “right” way to do things. She doesn’t actively attend any significant number of births and doesn’t have a close relationship with any wise women or authentic midwives other than maybe Sister Morningstar. Anybody in her inner circle disappears within a year or two and Emilee is the common denominator. Please look elsewhere for freebirth inspiration.

These are horrific to listen to. Nothing but a woman trying to profit off of people’s fears and to make money and lead them to horrible situations where their children could die.

    Powerful
This podcast literally changed my life - from proud doula ready to save women and take on the system to sovereign freebirther and birth keeper in my community. It’s such a controversial and triggering concept that you can literally just let your baby come out of your body. So grateful to Emilee for being willing to tell the truth!

    MEDICINE!
Listening to these stories while pregnant with my third baby was pure medicine. To hear miracle after miracle without intervention is so inspiring and awakens something dormant within. 10/10 recommend listening to expand your consciousness around birth and create a level of confidence in birthing unassisted.

Do not ware anymore time, you have got to check this podcast out!! I was not an avid podcast listener, I just preferred to listen to music mostly during my day, but this podcast has changed me! I find myself binging episodes and talking out loud to agree with women or talk to them like I am there with them as they are telling their stories. My life and view on womanhood has changed since finding FBS. You have got to check it out for yourself. Through this podcast I have found the websites programs useful for not just pregnant women or mothers, but for all women. You gotta see it for yourself! 100/10 amazing. Birth in power
Hearing these stories gives me so much light and optimism for our future. My daughter will know the story of her incredibly beautiful sovereign birth because I woke up from the lose-lose scenario that is Pathological Birth and changed my mind. I can’t wait to support women in birth who choose this route. Thank you for the work of fighting the system.

    Wealth of knowledge
I am so grateful I found this podcast! As I prepare for my 4th baby I am excited to take this knowledge and understanding of sovereign birth and watch it unfold in my birth. This podcast has really opened my eyes when it comes to what is and isn’t acceptable in birth. My last birth was with a birth keeper who acted more like a midwife. I thought that birth was great until I learned that how she was acting wasn’t acceptable for any woman in birth. Thank you for bringing this knowledge, understanding, and power to the world.

    One Agenda
Anyone else notice that the host can’t stand if any woman has a good or actually empowering homebirth with Midwives? She will literally interrupt them and “correct” them and will change their words into convincing them that it was actually traumatic. Even when the woman HERSELF speaks her own story. Why? Because it doesn’t fit the FBS agenda. The agenda is this, “every other birth , except for a free birth is traumatic and is sexual abuse”. Such. A. lie. Women, don’t believe this lie. There are soooo many beautiful births that don’t fit this agenda. Don’t ever feel less than because you didn’t have this exact type of birth. Educate yourself, prepare, pray, trust and then have the support team that YOU want. Did you feel supported? Safe? Joyful? Peaceful? Even when unexpected twists and turns come up? Because it’s birth! It’s your story and it’s beautiful!!! Emilee, quit convincing these vulnerable and wonderful women of how they should feel and just listen to them.

    Empowering Birth Stories
Knowledge is power. Learn from this podcast what women can do. The more you learn the less you fear. This podcast, these stories, the work being done by Emilee and Yolande, were all a huge part of my path to my first freebirth. If you love women and birth, this is the podcast for you. Undoing generations of trauma and fear surrounding our bodies and birth is hard work but it is worth it. The Freebirth Society is helping in that important work that benefits not only women today but our daughters and future generations as well.
