B•BumpusGone; sad; & almost forgotten‼️Sinead, I’d almost forgotten the name of your podcast‼️ & I am so sorry for that! I <3’d Mens Rea for a NUMBER of YEARS even got to where I was a paid subscribr/ listener & it seemed to me it was right then (maybe the next year actually) that you took that long hiatus from publish-ing - & you didn’t include a show note t’say u’were “ buy’n a house” ‘til AFTER it was done… (I don’t use social media: I KNOW that puts me in the .01% of people BUT: Social Media = BORING to this listener! SIDEBAR OVER: Your podcast WAS GREAT! Wonderful!Stupendous! Magnificent! 1 OF THE BEST OUT HERE! until you basically stopped doing it… & now, in April or was it March 2025 it’s the 1st time since…Uhm…Sept. 2024—(?•!!!) I’ll follow you to hope this is a HAPPY CHANGE‼️ But it’s been 6 mo’s since My hopes & likely the Hope’s of Many were dashed upon the rocks of inattention & shores of non-production! Or maybe recognize your life just can’t handle Mens Rea now & you’ll revisit it in 1 y; 3 yrs; or 5yrs! Or Hire a researcher, get a buddy/online partner; join a wri-ter’s gp, etc. BUT: I do hope 1 day you go back to making your own content again & neither regurgitating past content or going 6 mos or more without making any new podcasts AT ALL‼️ Please I implore & & beseech you: Go Back To Making Podcasts That Are Accessible To All Your Listeners‼️ 🙏🏻 Thanks for the platform for me to give you this feedback even if it was hard to swallow! I hope 1 day to return to the contin-ualy repeated 5-star reviews that you so normally deserve‼️

MariClureGreat podcast, sadly relies on the SunThis is a largely-well-researched and good podcast. Too often, however, it cites the Sun. If that intrusive and immoral rag is the only one quoting someone, please do not replicate the citation. In fact, don’t read them.
-
Sparkles2025Exceptional!There is a freshness to this podcast that makes it a pleasure to listen too. Other than that all I can say is I echo all the previous 5 star reviews, and am grateful there are no ads!

TarbysmomLove this podcaster!I really love this podcaster because her voice stays really well modulated - she doesn't break into giggles she doesn't opine she doesn't editorialize she doesn't talk to anybody else and there's a hypnotic quality to it that I really like. It's not at all boring to me - I like the fact that it doesn't sound like a newscaster nor does it sound like somebody who's trying to put a lot of emotion into their talk. It's perfect just the way it is and more podcasters should take note. And best of all, it's not interrupted with ads! I think I love that the most.
-
EuropeanInAmericaAmazing podcastGreat content, great research, great voice. Sinead is a true talent in a deep sea of true crime podcasts. Well done!!!
-

SqwooshyBest in True CrimeOne day I sat, wishing for a podcast that wasn’t full of ads, had podcaster who’s voice didn’t make my teeth grind…one that didn’t have two ladies joking and giggling…(I’m not looking for comedy)….and there you were!!!! I started at Ep. 1. I’m up to 150…I may just catch up.

tigersaucesmamaThe Best of the BestThe music for this podcast is beautifully haunting. Where can I find a copy of the entire piece. I’m not dying, but I am putting a playlist of my most favorite pieces together for my future funeral. Call me dark. I believe you said that your brother wrote this amazing piece. Is that true or did I hear that in the place between delirium and real sleep? Yours is my favorite podcast. I would put your haunting voice right up there with the beloved Alan Rickman and Benedict Cumberbatch. Your choice of stories must have led to many unsolved crimes being put to rest. You have the ability to tell a story that grips me and won’t let go.
-
PaigegirlpowerMens ReaWell spoken commentator, not the usual recycled true crime stories, and presented in a serious manner. Far cry from podcasters who act in a light-hearted silly manner when speaking about a serious topic. Love this podcast.
-
Marti1313Love this pod.Thank you!
-
HookemMomTxUnique storiesI like this podcast because the cases are unique to US listeners. It’s not a rehash of the same true crime stories that we hear in the states. Also, (and this isn’t an insult) if I can’t sleep at night, I play this podcast because the host’s voice is so darn soothing that it puts me to sleep.
-
TumlWell researched🤍🤍🤍
-
Chicago CinDifferent and entertaining!Sinead is very intelligent and tells the tales in a well-researched factual way, leaving the viewer to make up their mind how to feel about the case. Highly recommended. She also has a nice cam delivery which I appreciate. Thumbs up.
-
AnnliarubioOne of My Favorites!I love the calm, respectful tone that the host always has. Her research is excellent and the crimes she covers are generally not ones I have heard of since I live in the states. Thank you Sinead!
-
Kathobbs2Superior true crime podcastI heard about this podcast from “Murder Most Irish” and I’m so happy they are big fans and mention Mens Rea all the time! This podcast is excellent. The information is straightforward, concise, told with respect for the victims and their families, and the host has a fantastic voice as well, it really keeps my attention. Highly recommend, with a warning you will want to binge it all!!
-
L2982!Quite goodI may have a bias as I’m an attorney and therefore appreciate the way these cases are covered, but regardless its a well crafted and highly interesting podcast. Well done indeed, 5 stars from me. Lots of depth, avoids the salacious and speculation certain other podcasts seem to focus on (i.e. red handed).
-
hopscotch86I love your show!I’m a longtime listener and am finally able to join Patreon. Your voice is quite pleasant and your accent is lovely. My favorite part is the end when we hear you practicing. The show is so well done that it’s encouraging to people like me. Your research is well done as is your script. Thank you for sharing your gift with us, Lara Jaeger

KO ESQMonotoneLike listening to someone flatly reading a newspaper.
-
The Math ProfExcellent PresentationIt's rare to find such a superior true-crime podcast. The stories are told in an organized and straightforward way, without any inane banter. No irrelevant discussion, no off-topic banter. Just a well-presented narrative.
-
cmdmlove this podcast...it’s thorough and well written...plus the voice of the host is incredible...nothing but love and understanding for your struggles…my best to you…
-
brainzmatterVery well done.No gimmicks, no pointless sidekick, no personal interjections—lets the facts speak for themselves. I wouldn’t mind a bit more background on some of the subjects, but OTOH, other shows overdo this and end up whitewashing the victim’s history. Whist no one deserves to be murdered, some lifestyles are at much higher risk and people do make choices. So maybe this show strikes the right balance. Update: some episodes drag on somewhat and really do put me to sleep—which is a good thing sometimes! I have unsubscribed. I want to like this but the longer I listen, the more tedious it gets. The voice is nearly robotic and she just seems to be reading from a script. No connection to audience. I do not want the banter but I can’t take this monotone point by point either. Just something missing.

GataBlancaTaraSinead does the best Manscape ad ever! For real ,,,she does an outstanding job telling tales of Irish ☘️ true crime. I wish I was her neighbor! Or best mate. This show is in the top5 of my “Best TC pods” from Duluth to Detroit to Dublin. She’s your girl. 💚
-
girlPhoenixCaptivatingThe stories that are told are done with respect. No judgement is perceived. Sinead does not go off on tangents that you need to fast forward through. Quality work.
-
h2ocelloOne of the best true crime podcastsMens Rea is well done in every way - a deep dive on crime, murder and court cases out of Ireland. Almost every one I’ve heard is completely new to me. I don’t even mind the commercials - there are few, and they’re often local to where I live, which is neat. And somehow, not sure how this is possible, the stories don’t include a ton of bias in any direction. Other more well-known podcasts may want to take heed. Not alienating your audience by shaming their beliefs - or by making their audience cringe while they make them think how they’re shaming others’ beliefs - is maybe a pretty good approach. Sorry for the mini passive aggressive rant. I just wanted to say thank you to the host for doing such a fantastic job.
-
MsAshNicoleHooked!I started listening due to hearing a recommendation on True Crime Fan Club and I’m hooked! Sinead has a captivating voice and does such a great job going through the cases. So happy I found a new podcast to binge!
-
Ron BufordMen’s Rea : a true crime story.I don’t know who the narrator is but she is worse than my high school science teacher. Monotone and just hard to listen to.
-
eg portlandSmartSo smart and well written. Excellent voice.
-
Lady Lion 67Irish ColleenMy family is descended from one of the oldest families in Ireland. It does my heart good to heart good hear Sinead give such good stories on these crimes. I reside in the U.S. And was born here. Sinead, you're a wonderful representative of all that is good in Ireland and the U.K. Thank you so much for doing this podcast its very informative.
-
nessadianeExcellent & addictive!I just discovered this podcast today. I am so hooked already. The narrator is pleasant to listen to and tells the story in such excellent detail. There is no obnoxious back and forth banter, no mindless blabber, just well researched material that gets straight to the point. I’m highly impressed after one episode. Love it 😊. 🙌🏼
-
p.guillenI enjoy this podcastWell researched, not the typical crimes and most of them are not too old. Delivers new episodes consistently. Very well done.
-
N72643GreatReally well done
-
lrp0489GreatSo well researched and told in a way that is captivating and keeps you wanting more.
-
Mazy1001Well Researched and DeliveredThe. Mens Rea podcasts are consistently among the best true crime story productions. They are straightforward accounts of dreadful crimes, told without gimmicks by a very skilled narrator, Sinead, who also researches and writes the narratives. If you look at the source notes for each episode you will see just how much research goes into each episode - work of this quality takes time, effort and skill, and that’s what makes these outstanding and entertaining podcasts.
-
Lord of the CrimesExcellentI found this podcast after I binged Casefile. I’m really enjoying it so far!!! Great host!!!
-
b3853rLoves Mens Rea!Understated host. Very detailed story. Even though it’s true crime, there is a calming effect. Perhaps that is due to the lovely music. 9-1-1 Calls With the Operator, Mens Rea & Casefile are my podcasts. Keep up the good work! Brenda Eyre
-
Jami P.Calling all true crime buffs!I listen to a variety of true crime podcasts and most of them cover the same cases but this podcast covers cases I’ve never heard of! It’s a breath of fresh air! I work from home and have for years so I listen to podcasts all day, every day. When I catch up on all my regular podcasts, I find a new one which happened to be Mens Rea this time and I’m glad I found it! I love that Shanade (spelling?) doesn’t add her opinion and sticks to the facts. Her voice is also super pleasant! I feel like if she narrated a bedtime story, I’d be asleep in minutes. I hope you take a chance on this podcast for a pleasant surprise!
-
MamosiJust the facts.Laid back, no chatty Cathys, no unfunny comic side conversations. As good as Casefile.
-
Daniele's IpodAmazing podcast!I absolutely love this podcast! I have binged all 76 episodes! I love how much detail you give and how you follow each story from beginning to end!! Keep up the amazing work!!
-
Valerie UBrilliantA great host with a wonderfully compelling voice. The podcast was a great find and I can’t wait each week for a new episode!
-
CapeCodDubGreat researchThis podcast is so thorough- there have been more than a few instances of crimes I’d heard on other podcasts but was surprised to hear new details on this podcast.
-
Kerri MelsonA MUSTI could listen to your accent all day (wait... I already am!)
-
ArghieHow many podcasts can you subscribe to?Add this one. It's that easy. You're going to want to listen and you're going to want to go through the back episodes. You're going to want more. You're going to be all "this is the high bar that all podcasts will be measured against" and your thought is valid. Mens Rea sets the bar high. Admittedly, my personal preference for podcasts is exactly this - a quieter, grown up telling of facts and details about crimes The accent is just a bonus.
-
SWebbs13New listener!I’m only onto episode 13 but I’m already hooked! I listen to a lot (and I mean like a lot a lot) of true crime podcasts. This particular show reminds me a lot of Canadian True Crime and They Walk Among Us, both of which I enjoy quiet a bit. I go thru podcasts rather quickly so I’m excited to add in another!
-
yooknowMy (new) favorite murder podcastI’ve listened to dozens of true crime podcasts and this is one of the best. Straightforward, thorough, and doesn’t shy away from tough topics, but doesn’t make light of them either. Every so often there’s an editing glitch (repeated sentences, for example), but it doesn’t happen a ton and is easily skipped. Highly recommend Mens Rea for anyone who feels burnt out on other true crime podcasts!
-
Honest, humble, and funnyOne of the best, one of my favesWell researched true crime podcast centered on murders in Ireland. Narration is always smooth and professional. There is a tone in Sinead's voice at times that is subtle but clear. I never miss an episode.
-
frissjanPainfully Slow with an Excess of DetailsI just listened to episode 71. An interesting story was ruined by this podcast. The narration is poor and the inclusion of unimportant details make this podcast unbearable.
