Love Board Games, Love This Pod
For years I had to hide my love of board games. Then this pod happened and made them cool again. Not only is that enough to warrant 5-stars, but their opening my eyes to hundreds of new games cements that 5-star, must listen, podcast review.

Just the board game podcast you’re looking for
I was a bit late to the SUSD party, but I have been listening for over a year now, and I look forward to every installment. The banter is witty and pleasant, and never digresses too much from the task at hand. The reviews and commentary are thoughtful, and while YMMV, I have found that their tastes are close enough to mine that I can put a lot of stock in their recommendations. The fantastic intro music is just icing on the cake; every time I hear it kick in through my headphones, I know I am in for an enjoyable ride.

    The best board game podcast
There are a number of excellent podcasts covering board games. This is the very, very best. And it’s funny

    Ok podcast
Well, I really like this podcast, and the YouTube videos too. I just have one problem and that is that the hosts have a bit too much of a tendency to chase controversy and hate on universally loved games. The fact that they DIDN’T recommend Root, but gave the SEAL OF APPROVAL to Turncoats, a handmade game designed and made by one woman in Sweden or whatever is absolutely criminal and stupid, mainly because they frequently refuse to recommend games that are a limited run/hard to get your hands on.

    Delightful
There are many other podcasts with the same goals as this one, and many do it well. Why did I feel compelled to come write a review for this already very successful podcast instead of helping out someone smaller? Ava has recently recorded a pair of innovative and completely unexpected “SoloCasts,” and I was completely delighted. I didn’t know I wanted to hear about why people play boardgames alone, and I didn’t know I wanted to hear low key ASMR boardgame reviews. Thank you, Ava. You made my day.

    Losing interest
I’ve been a fan of the show for a while, but their banter is getting a bit salty.. hope they bring in some new voices (maybe some more diversity? Diversity in game tastes?) The general vibe I get is aggressive gamer and it’s worn on me.

All of the SU&SD content is whimsical and passionate and intelligent and enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Best board game group and reviewers in the business
SU&SD are the best, easily. They’re smart, funny, and very great at articulating what makes a game good or bad, though I do wish that they would take some critical takes on board games or the industry as a whole. I understand why they take the extremely approachable stance to board games on their YouTube channel, but this is a board game podcast. Only people who are absolutely in love with board games are going to listen to these podcasts. It would be nice if they took a deeper dive. Even if they don’t take a deeper dive into the industry, SU&SD are just phenomenal people. I want to be friends with Matt, I want to play board games and RPGs with Quinn’s, I want to hang out with Tom and Ava. They’re just genuine, fun, and interesting people who are just simply amazing at reviewing games and pinpointing exactly why games are good or bad.

Cozy Corner needs to become a regular entry
Hey I have been listening to the podcast for years and I have always enjoyed it but I had to leave a comment after I listened to Ava’s cozy corner. It was such a pleasant change up and I really enjoyed the presentation. Please let’s see more creative entries like this. Lots of love for the whole team. Thanks for the positive vibes : )

Need to stop non-gaming woke nonsense
Dropped. They have moved so far beyond games that I think they need to get into general journalism and get real jobs. They use games to push a woke agenda. They virtue signal so badly that they can’t see their own hypocrisy in it. This is NOT what I want in game coverage.

Wonderful companion to their YouTube channel
The amount of thought put into their reviews is incredible and they still have energy to be very funny and even thought provoking when considering topics like the impact of the hobby on the environment, the messiness of history in a game’s theme and the business aspect of board gaming. Always entertaining and a really great companion to their YouTube channel that I didn’t think could compete given that it’s only audio. This podcast has become the “fix” that I genuinely look forward to instead of just something that holds me over until the next video review. I started listening towards the end of last year and have just about made it through the entire catalogue. It’s been a pleasure to see how the show has evolved and the new members are welcome additions to another real strength of the show - the chemistry between all the reviewers. This is a show that keeps bringing me a lot of joy and gets me excited about gaming with friends. I’ve listened to a lot of great podcasts but this is the one that compelled me to write my first review. Highly recommended for people who like games and want something unique, well produced and fun.

    Entertaining board game podcast
A great in depth, entertaining podcast on a wide variety of board games. Some light, some heavy, mostly good, sometimes bad. The emphasis is on games that are worth your time, described by smart British folk who have a knack for making the movement of bits sound fun.
  • Pbreezy2
    Love this show!!!!
    Fantastic!

Read the above phrase. It’s all you need to know.

    The ‘new’ Su&SD
I’ve enjoyed this podcast for years but recently not so much. A bit too fluffy for me now. I enjoyed more the deep dives and thorough analysis of the past.

    My Favorite Podcast
SUSD got me—and by extension, the rest of my friend group—into board games. I love all of the hosts, and their discussions are consistently both informative and entertaining. If you’re on the fence at all, do yourself a favor and give it a listen!

    So much fun
I love listening to this podcast. I went through withdrawals during Christmas while they took a much needed break. They are funny, informative and they give honest opinions about games and why they did or did not like it. The latest episode with Rodney had a great point, what I find fun and what you find fun are totally different things. So these are simply their opinion which I respect. I won’t always agree but that’s the best part of games … there are tons of them. Pick another. But no matter what it is always entertaining listening to SUSD talk about my favorite hobby.

    Fun rotating hosts!
I don’t use apple’s podcast app but I’m using it right now because I enjoy the show so much and want to support them with a rating!
  • D20Dumbbell
    One of my favorites!
The ‘quint’essential (see what I did there?) board game podcast. Truly entertaining and friendly hosts. All of them bring great energy. Can’t recommend enough!
  • NOTYOURAVERAGE!
    Best podcast
This is a really fun podcast talking about all board games and I think that is so fun that they do this!
  • Requash
    Change of tone
SUSD was one of my main entry points into the hobby and had been my favorite boardgame content for years but the light hearted tone with hilarious bits seems to taken a back seat to the focus on talks of who can be the most offended by a game this week. While the boardgame discussion is still good and the new podcast members have been a welcome addition the constant negative focus isn’t what I want from my hobby podcasts.
  • Shon Richards
    My favorite board game podcast
This is my go to podcast for everything board game related. Even when describing games I will never play, the insights on design, presentation and ethics are always educational. Plus, the rotating cast are always engaging and fun to listen to.
  • crotalusatrox
    Pretty good
I would give it four or five stars, but one of the cast members can be insufferably self righteous at times. Other than that occasion irritation, I enjoy it.
  • CaptainApe
    Long time fan.
Truly is the best. The members have been really increasing the quality of individual shows and keeping me happy with regular episodes! Miss you Paul Dean

    The best
The absolute best podcast in this genre. All of the participants are interesting and insightful, each episode feels unique, and they make me love the subject even more!

    The Original & Best.
I've been listening to SUSD for years and they will never leave my podcast rotation. Essential gaming content.
  • Pompadour74
    Shut up, please.
Nobody cares about the boohoo mean old colonialism in our board games. Nobody needs to hear your 20 minute, white guilt, woke nonsense rants about every other game. Tiresome.
  • hexpixy
This is the only news I care about
Great takes on boardgames both new and old. I’d like to think that I’m cool enough for Ava to be my spirit animal.
  • Doc~G
A great look into an amazing hobby
These guys do a fantastic job of talking about all aspects of designer board gaming: the art, the gameplay, the design. Every review pays attention to WHY you might want to play/buy a game (and why not) and WHO might be interested (your hardcore regular war gaming group? Your family on a long holiday weekend that doesn't want to read rules longer than half a page?) The hosts are incredibly knowledgeable and excellent explainers, and also just seem like the kind of folks who you would want to sit down and play with yourself - probably because they have a deep and abiding love for the magical activity of sitting down with other humans to create a world and tell stories, in whatever form that takes.

    My favorite board game podcast
Great people making great content about a great hobby. Invaluable for my board game purchases. Unique humorous voices. On average, larger than a standard reference pear. Updated: Its still great. Seal of Approval
  • Bryon Russell
Depends on who is on that week
Quinn’s is great and does his best to try and moderate this crew. Ava is ok. But is prone to purple prose. Tom is pretty good but still finding his footing with the group. Matt comes across as a bully. Especially the episodes with Paul.
  • tttttttttttttttttttttn
    Really
I’ve never reviewed a podcast. They’ve earned it, though. Really, really, really, really... really good.
  • seppo_helava
    Thoughtful & Delightful
A delightful collection of discussions about board games. Not just reviews, but context, history, perspective - all done thoughtfully by a handful of folks who have differing perspectives and interest, but are united by a love of a wonderful medium.
  • Romeo Delavega
    Soooooo gooood.
    As good as it gets.

Not just board games, but entertainment
As informative as they are handsome. I would give them six stars, but they haven’t revealed their hidden opinion on “Barrage,” so I’m holding off until they do.
  • DJG_7079
    Happy it’s weekly
    Like the weekly podcasts
  • barraven
Like board games? Listen to this podcast!
Even-handed reviews and criticism from a trio of passionate players. Come for the games, stay for the people. The format swap in 2021 to focus on a single game or theme is excellent
  • Mcarna

Fantastic podcast with great content every week!

    Never miss it
This is such an entertaining and honest podcast that I listen to even if there is no chance I will play the games they discuss. I trust their opinions and have enjoyed several games they recommend.
  • selfee
Informative with a side of cheek
Lively and clever reviews of the latest games with occasional forays into classic games you may have missed or not fully appreciated. Highly recommended for those into games or looking for a new challenge.
  • Zendirtzendust
    An utter delight
Easily one of the top ten non European podcasts on sheep themed aggressive board games. Keep up the good work. And where’s my apple chicken bread Matt Lees? I was promised apple chicken bread
  • Ixe8

Boards and games: a match made in heaven!
Matt and Quinns are two of the world’s finest woodworkers. Their podcast about all of the ways to turn wood into small painted cubes never ceases to delight.
  • AFK4Nachos
