Still good, just a significantly different podcast post-COVID. I don’t know if Teen fell out with the rest of the old crew (besides Jess) or what happened, but it has a different vibe compared to the beginning. (Granted it seems like a lot of the old guests were college kids)

I was a listener since 2018 when I was desperate to find a podcast that would talk about Asian and Asian Diaspora topics without fear, boundaries, and most importantly, without echo chambers. Every entry was filled to the brim with well thought and spoken opinions, even though personally I sometimes found it difficult to fully keep up with their logic (more of a personal shortcoming than criticism on their part). The past year (and most recently the second half of 2023) has not been good to the podcast. The pod is still uploaded weekly, but the topics are almost universally pessimistic, nihilistic, or doomer takes. Recent topics don’t even center around Asian or Asian diaspora topics, and devolve into seemingly panicked rants and raves over American society/politics. The roster of hosts has gone from four-five contributors down to one host (Teen) and a guest. At the end of 2022 Plan A made a resolution to step towards supporting Asian/Asian diaspora creatives. I wish Plan A themselves went along with it. Doomism is totally understandable (justified even), but the amount of heavy despair the podcast talks about is not only emotionally exhausting, but simply not a good trend for any podcast to go towards. I strongly recommend early entries into this podcast, but entries after 2021 can be skipped.

It’s quite rare to see some respectful thoughts on AA situations.

I really enjoy this podcast because we as Asian Americans don’t often address a lot racism issues that we face. This podcast really dives into a lot issues we often just pushes down and ignore even though it affects us in a much deeper way than we realize. Listening to this podcast not only make me have this ah ha moment like finally I am able to put words to those underlying feelings I have been feeling inside but also give me different perspectives on the issues we face as Asian currently. I highly recommend!

Keep it up! im struggling to create a voice in my small suburban town on the east coast, for the Azn community. This podcast is amongst other great Asian frequencies to keep me sane as an azn guy in this white society.

I always look forward to Mondays when I get to hear a new episode of Escape From Plan A. Even as a South Asian American, the topics and discussion held by the Plan A Mag crew resonate with me on a deeper level.

My personal experience with Asian American media is that it’s usually heavily white-centric or white-adjacent. This podcast and their online magazine Plan A represents a refreshing home for challenging discussions on issues of the day for Asian American, in a way that unapologetically centers the Asian American perspective. There’s a rotating cast of regular and guest contributors, and perspectives are varied and debated passionately. My only note for newcomers: it’s a bit dense at first, and it’s not as accessible as other podcasts of its ilk. Part of that it’s open discussion format, and part of that is because it goes to challenging places that can get uncomfortable, where there are no clear answers. But that’s why I can’t recommend it enough to people who want to dig deeper into the Asian American experience.

Look elsewhere for commentators who are willing to change their minds. Full of judgement.

I think if you’re an Asian man in America listening to this podcast you’re probably feeling vindicated in a way as these guys have a way of verbalizing all the subtle feelings and social undercurrents of then Asian situation. Very insightful and highly thought provoking.

Oxford Kondo and gang tackle all the hard and (even hard to identify) issues facing Asian Americans and a larger extent race relations in US. They are woke, lively and no wallflowers. Oxford asked for a critique in the reviews so I will say that the length of each eps can be tightened up.

I’m a mixed male, Latino and Asian, and I am absolutely in love with this pod. You guys at plan A are funny and well read in the issues discussed. Been binging this show and I won’t stop anytime soon!

This podcast featured very smart, interesting conversations about race in the united states.

Its great for me, a Black Male to get a perspective on race in America that isn't just from Black people (and NOT from white people)...so Plan A with their rich and honest dialogues about the Asian American community have been really helpful in broadening my handle on understanding how we all function on White Supremacy. Excellent stuff.

Plan A is leading the discussion on many fronts for Asian & Asian American issues. These folks were among the first to connect the dots of what Trump's inauguration meant for Asians in America — that we need to wake up to the realities of racism and marginalization by starting honest & open conversations. This pod is staffed by really articulate people and they add nuances to contemporary issues such as the "my culture is not your prom dress" Twitter debacle, the launch of Crazy Rich Asians, and so on. However I'd give Plan A the feedback that recently they've been focusing too much on pop culture / literature review, it's kind of feeling like a book club and less of AsAm narrative setting. I hope they can also expand beyond the medium of podcasting in the future

With flashes of greatness. I want to hear Teen get even more reckless and fly off the handle. He’s got that fire that I love. Ox and Jess are also quite good. Don’t stop.

They have become a trash site for those trying to put down asian American narratives. They only focus on controlling the dialogue to help promote toxic asian females that are in this community. Wouldn’t be surprised if this turns into a Hate group trashing asian men.

Plan A articulates what so many of us have thought and felt but have been unable or unwilling to address directly. I don’t always agree with everything discussed on the pod but that’s kind of the point - they successfully tackle uncomfortable issues without being condescending or alienating their audience. Separately, having grown up with one of the members of Plan A serves as a point of pride to able to see a childhood friend confidently identify and confront such important issues for our community. Keep it up, Plan A!

There isn’t that much in the current AsAm space but these guys tackle things that are more political and cultural than some other more mainstream podcasts. Definitely worth a listen to get a grittier view on the AsAm experience.

The Plan-A crew is able to masterfully articulate the feelings that I knew I had but couldn't quite put my finger on. Yes sometimes over the top and I don't always necessarily agree with their views, but it's a bunch of voices that have been sorely lacking in the conversation until now. (Their website is equally as awesome.) I want a Oxford action figure.

My interest in Asian American issues boils up every few years and I came across Plan A as I was searching for commentary on issues that are happening right now. This is definitely my favorite of all the Asian American podcasts, because the hosts are extremely knowledgeable and articulate in dissecting really complex issues. So often, I find myself thinking of a question and minutes later, someone on their panel brings up that exact concern. The show definitely covers a very niche set of topics, but ones that I find particularly interesting at this current moment. I highly recommend this show to anyone with an interest in learning more about Asian American issues and helping move the dialogue forward.

Antiblackness is nowhere on the same plane as “antiasianness”

Been looking for a podcast centering around AsAm voices and topics that don’t get brought up much in my personal life. Growing up AsAm and even surrounded by AsAm, I’ve always felt like I couldn’t bring up the more ‘meaty’ issues to them without having some sort of pushback or a complete change of subject.

If you’re tired of the “woke” social justice pablum of today’s Asian American activists, who know all the terminology of liberal white racial hierarchies yet are comically out-of-touch with the values and interest of their own alleged Asian community, then finally this podcast (and their excellent magazine) can redeem your faith that some of us - the silent majority of Asian Americans - are not sellouts.

Great podcast related to Asian and Asian – American topics. Funny and well thought out. I’m so glad I found this. I wish there were more podcasts like this!

By and large the best Asian diaspora talk out there. Gets real about issues while maintaining a cool and relatively unbiased atmosphere of discussion. Whether you’re a seasoned vet on the issues or just recently “woke”, there is something to glean here. Keep up the great work, folks.

I love this podcast! I like the rotating format. And the topics are interrogated with vigor without losing conversational ease and fun. The only reason I didn’t give five stars is because I really would appreciate links to the articles/videos discussed in the show notes.
