Just not my cup of tea. It feels like you guys are running out of ideas; and the topics are just too similar and plain…. It’s like a personal journal that you’re sharing. Nothing’s wrong with it, but I just have better use of my time.

I used to follow them and listen to every episode, however I found myself outgrowing their content. The topics they choose feels basic and bland to me, and they repeat similar topics a ton. Nowadays I like more in-depth and nuanced discussions.

They’ve each really come into their own since the early days, and by that I mean they’re all so much more comfortable with not only just talking on the pod amongst themselves, but also in their interviews. They’re no longer rigid and no longer sound like they’re reading a book report, so the flow’s gotten way better. Loving the interesting subjects and of course their very apparent closeness with each other. I will say, though…the ads every 7 minutes (I’m guess-timating but I’m on minute 21 of an episode right now, and the third ad just popped up. I’d prefer if you could stack three ads in one sitting (like some other pods do) because now it’s feeling like I’m watching TV where it’s just an ad every couple of minutes. It interrupts the listening experience too frequently.

This podcast used to be relatable but now it just feels like the same topics are talked about repeatedly and I just can’t relate to the content anymore. It honestly feels like some of the episodes are filler episodes that I as the viewer simply don’t care to listen to. Maybe I’ve outgrown it or maybe after the girls stopped working in corporate I just stopped relating to their lives…

I’ve been following and listening to every single episode of ABG since 2019, and the ladies really showed us what building community is about. I love every single episode that they put out, whether it be bringing guests on the show to educate us or being vulnerable and sharing their personal journeys and stories. Keep up the good work!

I absolutely love listening to your podcast on the way to work (my drive is 1 hour every morning) the topics you discuss as Asian American women are interesting and relatable. I love how authentic you ladies are. (I especially love the Q&A sessions where the listeners get to know you more) . I find myself laughing out loud and I especially find Mel’s sense of humor so cute and lovable. Keep up the great work!

love you ladies! your content is relatable and a great way to spend time during my work commute. i personally struggle to be vulnerable and the way these ladies openly share their struggles and successes in a mature way is something i aspire to do, so thank you ABG <3

I have listened to a number of episodes at this point intermittently these past 2.5 years and I have put in extensive effort to enjoy it. Love the representation these three ladies have as Asian American women. In general, I listen to podcasts to learn something new and to a certain degree, to be entertained. These ladies’ are well spoken, however, their conversations are quite vapid and it is primarily a lifestyle podcast — very much the audio version of a vlog.

There’s some tech issue with the way you all are formatting your episodes on Apple - I’ve had multiple issues with episodes not playing when I try to. No issues with any other podcast just this one which makes me think maybe your file is too big or something

I started listening to ABG initially to give it a try. I wasn’t absolutely hooked the first time around (with the earlier episodes), but continued to play it in the background while getting ready for work/outings. However, these girls truly grew on me with their down-to-earth, quirky, and relatable content. They’re all so raw and vulnerable about their experiences, and I love hearing about everything from their day-to-day experiences to guest appearances. I know some people in previous posts have voiced how ABG became too “personal,” but I don’t feel that at all. This podcast WAS meant to be personal and to share their unique experiences as Asian American women in the fierce society. And what better way is there to relate without the personal experiences?! Otherwise, it would feel like a dry podcast of preaching about AAPI. Mel, Janet, and Helen: You girls continue to do what you’re doing. There will always be criticisms in any field, but never let them deter you from the original missions that started ABG. You are all doing remarkable work on sharing such relatable content.

Let me start with this: I appreciate the community that Helen, Janet, and Mel have built and I don’t want my feedback to take away from their accomplishments within the Asian American community space. I truly believe these ladies have worked their butt off and created something amazing where Asian Americans can bond together and share their experiences without feeling like the odd one out. My review is strictly on their podcast as of lately… I agree with a previous reviewer that lately their podcast focuses too much on their personal life and their own personal experiences, rather than talking about the “modern day Asian American” experience they used to highlight before. I get it, they’re going through various life changes and they want to talk through relevant experiences based on what they themselves are going through. However, there gets to be a point where it’s an overshare and as a listener I just don’t find value in it anymore. “Episode 197: the dos and donts of holiday potlucks” was a great example of this, where they’re sharing about their own parties or friend circles and as a listener…. I’m just confused. Why is this considered a topic that requires 1hr of coverage on? As another reviewer pointed out, I too agree that the episodes are starting to sound redundant & they’re running out of ideas. If that is the case, I highly suggest reaching out to the community to gauge interest in topics or even researching other marginalized communities within the Asian American space that have yet to be covered, and hearing about their stories or talking about their experiences. The “Main character/It girl” vibes are coming off really strongly in the latest episodes and I just wish there was more breadth to their content as they had previously.

This is a great pod and I truly enjoyed their content. Their openness of sharing their life stories has always been an inspiration to me. I want to give my honest feedback here: 1. Recently their content has been missing some diversity here, they are talking too much about their personal life, romantic relationships etc. At some point this gives me an impression that they are running out of creative ideas so they have to work around with the similar topics over and over again. And from a listener’s perspective, I feel it’s a bit of over sharing at some point because not everyone is truly interested in too much details about someone’s personal life. I would give 5 stars if this was in 2021 because back to that time, they were truly making their content more interesting, diverse, comprehensive, and with a lot of guests coming on to share various content and stories. 2. I like their small podcast series between Mel, Helen and Janet that they’ve started a few months ago but recently it’s suddenly stopped. I wish they could be more consistent with this. 3. Too much add in the podcast now and sometimes I have to skip the add so I can jump into their conversation, it feels a bit of annoying. Overall, I really like Helen, Janet and Mel, and appreciate their genuine dedication to this pod. Happy New Year!

I recently discovered this show and binged a ton of episodes. ABG’s greatest asset is the personalities of the hosts. There is such good chemistry between them - shared history and friendship is evident. Janet’s thoughtfulness and coolness, Mel’s spunk and freshness, and Helen’s humor and logic, all really balance each other out. Conversations with each other feel natural and go deep. They are so relatable so I feel at home with these women, like we’re old friends catching up. My main feedback applies to interviews. Some of the questions can be very vague leading guests to give long winded answers that are really hard to engage with, so instead of meaningful follow up from the hosts, they’ll just say “I loved when you said this…” and then move on to the next topic. When there was opportunity to unpack or dig deeper into something that the guest said previously. Maybe more pointed questions, and interaction within the questions, would lead to more of a conversational flow, rather than a job interview feel.

This is my favorite podcast hands down. As an Asian woman in my late 20s, I have never listened to a podcast that felt so relatable and relevant to me. I love the variety of topics from navigating intergenerational relationships with our parents and grandparents to finances a young adult and many more. I also love the girls (Helen, Mel, and Janice) who do a great job facilitating conversations among themselves and guests by asking such good questions and providing honest perspectives. Thank you for this awesome podcast!

I used to listen in the early days and got bored after the hosts started going full time Internet content creators. The 2020 “woke” content also pushes me away. Not everyone is pro-abortion to the extreme Leftish degree and complex topics have an incredible amount of nuance.

I really enjoy the non-guest episodes that are more focused on them navigating as Asian American women. I just wish the interviews with the guests didn’t feel so much like a job interview. I listen for the personality, and when they perform these guest shows with no personality, it’s just so boring and topic is so mundane. The guest intros are just way too long- and draggy. We have google for that. Honestly feels like content filler like how Netflix have comedian specials as fillers.

Just found this podcast, caz my bf is previous coworker with Kay! He forwarded this eps to me after you did an interview with Kay! I immediately felling love with you girls! Haha, binge listened to many earlier episodes. I don’t write review often…. Love your content, the kindness, support and wisdom you gals spread to each other and me behind the headphone. I throughly enjoyed this weeks topic on moon cake and culture. I grew up in Monterey Park and recall all the things you guys shared. Go over to family…celebrate and eat food…but why? As I gotten older, I realize how important culture, tradition and history is to my life. Living here in SLC, I don’t get to experience these Chinese traditions and celebrations unless my parents teach me. And I’ve learned to soak in more of the history, meaning, symbolism behind everything in the Chinese culture. Speaking my dialect (Cantonese), preparing traditional dishes, celebrating various holidays on the Chinese calendar represent who I am…who you guys are as ABG. Great episode this week. Btw…my favorite mom cake is the 5 nuts moon cake.

Used to love these gals but ever since they quit their jobs to pursue this full time (aka become one of a million influencers out there), been tuning in less and less. Their content is not as engaging or inspirational as before - it’s gotten really boring! Not to mention like 5 straight minutes of ads.

Every time I listen to this podcast, I feel like I’m having a conversation with the older sisters I never had. These ladies are so inspiring and I love the variety of topics that come up. As an Asian American woman in her 20s, I especially appreciate the culture lens of the podcast as well. Janet, Helen, and Mel are amazing women and have truly helped me get through some tough times in my life. I highly recommend this podcast, especially to young men/women in their late teens or 20s/30s.

While I do think that Helen, Mel, and Janet are Asian Boss Girls of their own right, I struggle to find their content as engaging as I did back in my early twenties. As I am approaching my 30s I have a desire to sink my teeth into more substantial topics / issues facing the AAPI community. This podcast doesn’t fit the bill for me anymore with titles like “Hot Girl Summer”, “Helen Got Engaged”, and “Going on Dates”. The podcast is not evolving in substance as much as I would like - it’s more like “follow us 3 girls and the friends in our lives and live vicariously through us” vibes

I listened to the latest episode all the way through before giving a review because it wouldn't be fair to talk about it without listening, but it was insufferable and so boring. If they are going to chit chat and talk about their personal lives as girltalk, then don't make the audience listen to ads and buy "merch"? The topic was so uninteresting and basic... I used to enjoy the podcast. but it became so shallow. Really, what do people get out of a podcast listening to Janet take a road trip? Literally do not care

Why was this suggested to me?! This is just three people with Main Character Syndrome. Dunno whether to be bored or annoyed. It’s funny how LA attracts these types of do-nothings, in pursuit of podcast/youTube stardom. But, this one specifically targets to capitalize off the “Asian American female experience”. Sadly, their convos are, as others have mentioned below, BASIC, lacking perspective, vapid, and simply hard to sit through, both audio-quality-wise, and content-quality-wise. Much like eavesdropping on your very average older sister and her corny friends from the other room, LOL If you’re looking for advice/news from people with insightful experiences or self-evident skillsets, this pod will leave you disappointed. If you want to hear Mel and/or Janet beg the internet for a husband, enjoy. If you want to be impressed with Helen as she is with herself (another classic case of Dunning-Kruger), then enjoy. If you’re simply starved of anything cultural, and look forward to recycled messages (but delivered less articulately), then yes, enjoy. But do prepare to suffer through a few strings of disingenuously-promoted advertisements each episode. Regarding the amount and varied types of ads (which spills over into their personal IGs too), this is clearly another instance of wannabe-influencers making $$$ through appealing to the status quo. “ABG” merch, really? A bit puzzled why anyone would diminish an experience as complex (and lately, dangerous) as being an Asian American woman, down to a novelty tote-bag or bucket hat!? I’ve never heard them promote any charities or grass roots activist organizations — do they even care, if it’s not profitable for them? Maybe their messging is just buried in all the ads? Would they still be spreading their gospel, if they didn’t charge colleges $$$ for speaking events? Shouldn’t you be offended you’re being marketed to, in a way where our IDENTITY is tied into capitalism, only to benefit them? If this is a leading representation of AAPI progress, I think we’re all in trouble :( We deserve more!

As an Indian American, I don’t really agree with the comments saying that ABG needs to include South Asians. Asia is a massive continent and there are plenty of podcasts that cater to South Asians— and no one ever yells at those podcasts or expects them to include East Asians. The problem is that there isn’t a term for “east/southeast Asia” the way there is for South Asia, so when they use the term “Asia” y’all know what they mean but expect them to include all 48 countries. I really enjoy ABG and connect with them despite not being the same ethnicity

I LOVE this podcast and what it stands for. BUT i wanted to echo that if your main goal is to provide support to asian-am women and support the asian-am community, you NEED to have more south and south east guests and experiences. filipina, thai, indonesian, indian, pakistani, etc... these cultures are so overshadowed in mainstream media. the asian-am women experience includes all of these voices and it would mean so much if the team would be able to bring awareness beyond east asian experiences!

I enjoy listening to the stories you share and see your growths through out your journey in life as a part of this podcast. I do agree with many others that we need more voices from our South and South East Asians too and also more than just entrepreneurs or business ladies such as artists, educators (like myself), and more. As an avid podcast listener on my commute to work or in the car I’ve noticed that the volume or sound of each episode on this podcast isn't even throughout. It’s either the intro is really quite, conversations are slightly louder but then it’s difficult to hear and then laughs are extra loud. There’s nothing wrong with laughing but as your listeners I'd like to be able to turn it on and not have to crank up the volume just to listen to the podcast. My volume is turned up 10-15 notches louder for the podcast than my music. Not sure if you can control this but it would be helpful for listeners. Btw, there was a part that I did appreciate when I had started listening to this podcast which was when Mel mentioned Hmong people. #IAmHmong

I love this show so much and appreciate this episode from 2020 about hate so much. Particularly the unpacking of intersectional response and how to mobilize in ways that support or protect all BIPOC. Thank you so so much. I’m wondering if anyone is doing something akin to the GirlTrek Black History podcast that tells the stories of individual AAPI to name the challenge and celebrate so many of the leaders here in US Asian communities.

As a fellow Hoisan person, hearing Helen speak to her mom and hearing Helen's mom speak just brings me so much happiness. As a person who does not know a ton but parents are fluent, it makes me so happy to see someone still be able to speak the dialect!

These ladies are so relatable, hilarious and real! Love listening to everything, from the insights to the banter to the special guests!

As much as I enjoy listening to these 3 lovely ladies about their experiences growing up as Asian Americans in states where the Asian population is high (coastal states like California and New York for example). I wish they can reach out to Asian American women who grew up in states where the Asian population is not as high (Oklahoma or Ohio for example) as I’m sure they can offer a different perspective because they had a different experience from the ones who grew up in coastal states where there are traditionally more Asians there. Discovered AsianBossGirl in early 2020 and have listened to every single episode since. All three women are so personable and well-spoken, and I appreciate that they're not afraid to be vulnerable while speaking about their experiences. They feel like the big sisters I never had, and feel like I know them after listening to them for all these episodes. I love that they discuss openly about relatable issues, and they have also brought on a diverse group of Asian guests, all with their own personal experiences to share. Looking forward to what 2021 brings for ABG! :)

First and foremost, I appreciate the asian female representation you have brought into this world. I also love that you talk about what is going through your life, the struggles and stories. However, it does not interest me as much. Most things are generic and boring and predictable, and the conversation is not very informative. Also, it seems that Melody does not speak in a very clear and intelligible way. Could work on pronunciation a bit more

At least with the two episodes I listened to, there was no fun chitchatting between the women. Instead there were a lot of long, boring monologues. Hard pass for me. Sorry.

I discovered this podcast last week while going for a walk during my lunch break and now I’m almost to episode 30 >_< I’m a 30yr old Filipino-American and I can definitely relate to the stories you guys talk about. Love the podcast!

Recently started listening to this podcast during my 30-min commute to and from work and instantly loved listening to their conversations and discussions on topics that lots of people can relate to. They even have made me start thinking about what kind of passion project I want to start. Keep the episodes coming! <3
