Better than some but with similar annoying host habits
This podcast is definitely better than SNL by the Numbers which features two hosts who can’t speak properly and subject the listener to an annoying tsunami of “like” vocal tics. These hosts have that same very American tic but at least they don’t sound illiterate. They also do the same lazy thing that other SNL podcasts do: repeat the jokes you just heard from a clip they played. This is a passable podcast but it would be better if they knocked off repeating what we just heard and do some more contextualizing of each episode’s humor.

    Lazy, Snarky, Tone Deaf
Claims to be a fan show but they mostly diss on any sketch-host-era they don't get. Two adult stoner-wannabes doing lazy reviews without the minimal research and cultural perspective to understand what they're watching. It's like Jeff Spicoli and Chad doing literary reviews. Guys, if your hate the show so much, don't watch.

    Unfunny guys talking about comedy
Production value and format are on target but these hosts are unlistenable. These guys are just not funny but somehow their opinions on comedy are supposed to matter? The Andy guy won’t stop with his phony drunk slurry “comedic” way of talking. It’s just the worst. Wish better hosts were doing this format.

    More voices needed?
I appreciate a podcast that goes deep into SNL episodes of yore. I also listen to Saturday Night Network and appreciate the variety of voices they have on each episode. I just listened to the Sarah Michelle Gellar/BSB episode and I have some comments to make regarding the boy band discussion. Max Martin and Swedish pop producers were responsible for the sound of BSB, NSYNC, and Britney, so the opinion that Backstreet Boys influenced Britney and other pop stars seemed blind spot-ish when they all worked with the same producers and writers. I understand this isn’t a boy band podcast, but I think certain discussions would benefit from more diverse viewpoints.

    Dey dem Chemistry Boyz
One thing many new podcasts try to generate is chemistry that comes across (or acrosst) natural, whereas this AWESOME and EPIC display of friendship, does just that on this pod! Love these guys, and love how conflicted they are usual by the time the rate the ep. Been listening from the start, took a few years off and now I’m BACK binging; do yourself a favor, (if you love sketch comedy and friendship), give ‘em a shot! Peece!

    Decent
Great to relive the shows, however, these guys to often don’t get the jokes, and that comedy in its self. For instance, in one skit, they couldn’t figure out why Dana Carvey, as Jimmy Stewart was reading a poem about his dog. All the while, the skit was poking fun at Jimmy Stewart really doing this on the Johnny Carson show in the 70’s. Still a good podcast though. These clowns also complain about an episode, talk how stupid skits were, how they didn’t understand any of them, complain how offensive skits were, then give the show a 4.5 out of 5 rating….😂

    Tough Critics
Ride or Die SNL fans may find some of the critiques to be harsh; but these guys take a thoughtful and respectful approach to de-constructing your favorite sketches and cast members. It’s very Norm of them, to continue castigating Norm, at a time when it’s in very poor taste ;-)

    Love the Show!
Great show, fellas. Going back through the older episodes now and loving it! Random observation, I think the Cat Fancy plagerism skit with Peter Sarsgaard/The Strokes episode is a reference to Shattered Glass, a Sarsgaard vehicle from three years prior to the episode where he was a New Republic magazine exec investigating journalist Hayden Christensen for plagerism. Just throwing that out there as a nerd. Also, say iteration as many times as you like. I’m on the iteration train.

I want to hang out with these guys!
A casual but informative podcast that makes you wish you could just hang out with these guys and talk about Robin Duke and Peter Ackroyd for hours and hours. I love this show.

    These guys are awesome!
As someone who has been obsessed with the history of SNL since the 90s, I loved coming across this podcast a couple of years ago. I became a Patreon supporter of theirs when I discovered they were covering the infamous 1980-1981 season...which led to them interviewing the truly underrated Gail Matthius. Anything that sheds light on that crazy era of SNL piques my interest immensely. I am sure it would be a blast to chat with them on an episode because they often bring humor to some of the harshest episodes in the show’s history.

I am glad that this podcast did us a solid by falling down the stairs to make sure Alex Moffat to play Biden. Glad you figured it out in the preseason podcast.

Very engaging and fun listening here to enjoy!
Of the seven SNL related podcasts I've listened to at least semi-regularly, this is always the one I find myself coming back to the most. The thing that makes them stand out from their peers is how their scope of discussion reaches far beyond the current seasons of the show. Obviously, their M.O. is reviewing past seasons of the show but they'll also discuss other sketch shows entirely as well as their favorite music and (more recently) what's been getting them through COVID lockdown. Plus, the hosts are longtime pals who easily build just as strong a rapport with the audience (and the occasional guests) as they had with each other from the moment they decided to do a podcast together. Every episode makes you feel like your hanging out in your buddy's living room having a casual, intimate chat. Truly, the ideal podcast for the longtime SNL fan whose well versed in all eras of the show's history. Even if you don't consider yourself an SNL fan, just listening to one episode completely at randomis enough to make one want to get into podcasting for themselves.

Dudes talking about old SNL episodes
Do you enjoy listening to guys you don’t know talk about old SNL episodes you haven’t watched in decades? Then this is the podcast for you.

    One of my favorite pods
They do a great job at reviewing vintage sketch comedy, a genre of TV surprisingly underrepresented in the podcasting world. Andrew and Tim often make me laugh more than the actual shows thet’re discussing. They strike a good balance of fun banter, constructive criticism, and providing historical context for what they’re watching. Would recommend to SNL fans both old and new.

A Golden Shower of Great Content
Five Stars!! Wish it could be six. You discussed my previous review on the show. I was driving and listening, and I was so floored by the unexpected mention that I had to pull into a parking lot because I was laughing so hard. Thanks for entertaining my weird attempt at obnoxious shock value, when most hosts wouldn’t have given it the slightest bit of attention. Incredible.

Proving that SNL has been funny past the original cast
Its like a walk down memory lane for many of us who have been enjoying SNL most of their lives. Andy and Tim bring the funny and frustration as they dissect the good, the bad and the lame from one of the most iconic tv shows ever; one episode at a time.

Love the show--could you talk a little bit more about MTV's The State, though?
Andy. Timmy. Fellas, I love the Podcast! It's something I stumbled upon over a year ago (during the middle of season 2, I believe) and I immediately signed up for Patreon access to it, as soon as it became available to pay you for! I've been a crazy SNL-Head for decades and your show is the pinnacle of irreverant charm and wit that we all crave, when it comes to SNL Episode, Cast, Host, Musical Guest, & Pop-Cultre Breakdowns! I also caught a couple of your Twitch streams, and they were a God Damned DELIGHT! Anyways, I just listened to your Off Week Episode on 2000's Late Night Programming and I was SHOCKED to hear no mention of MTV's The State. It's a super underrated sketch show from the mid-to-late 90s. Anyways, enough rambling! I really dig your podcast and I'm recommending it to all my fellow SNL/Sketch Comedy nerd friends! I'll take that FarrsBar, now. PEACE! I'M OUTTA HERE!

    Great Format!
(I wrote this moths ago but I’ll post it here to help their score) I started listening to That Week In SNL at the Bob Saget episode before going back to the beginning and I’ve finally caught up to it. I remember seeing it back on the Voyboard (where I contributed a tidbit on Darrell voicing O.J.) and was fascinated by the concept. But I was never into podcasts until now so I’m glad to have started on this one!

For SNL fans, foes and in between
Full disclosure, I’ve been an SNL fan since I could crawl. But I’ve never achieved the level of fandom that Andy & Tim seem to have achieved. They go through lengthy discussions of the best, the worst and even the Paul Reiser of SNL (their most recent show about his ill fated—to say the least—1995 appearance might’ve been the best thing to ever happen to his career in years). If you’re a diehard, casual, novice or hate-watching fan of SNL, these guys have something for all fans.

    Andrew & Tim!
I really enjoy listening to these guys; they definitely have a great scope over the show, the cast, the writing, and how it’s changed over 45 years. My only issue is how they sometimes address too much how some jokes don’t work in today’s “climate.” Even if it’s not your kinda humor, at least acknowledge where the sketch is coming from; I get that you don’t want to offend or alienate the listeners, but I’m guessing people who loved the old, classic sketches aren’t big on virtue-signaling. Also, Norm rules! Love the show, guys.

    Fars Bar?
Tim and Andy are well versed in the world of SNL and pop culture. Not afraid to be opinionated, always entertaining to listen to, and genuinely funny. Love hearing the clips of old sketches and musical performances. Now about that Fars Bar...

    Dear Kristin Stewart,
You are not edgy. I find you to be phony. A Hot Topic punk. A Calabasas bohemian. In conclusion: my wife despises you and she likes everyone. -Les Couchon- 💄🐷🍒👠

    Great co-host rapport
I mainly play this specific podcast as background noise when I’m doing a chore or something else. But it is a great podcast and if you are looking to get into other sketches on SNL but don’t have the time this is podcast to listen to! Also hearing Andy get enraged becomes a guilty pleasure laugh

    I tried, but I’m not a fan.
“Jerry Seinfeld isn’t a great comedian” “Stop doing so many Trump sketches” “I don’t know who this musical guest is” “Tired of so much Trump” “I’m scared Eddie Murphy won’t deliver” “Fewer Trump sketches would be great” “I think Rush should be a musical guest” “Is Alec a cast member? He plays Trump” “Pay us $5/month for the episodes we’re doing about the worst season in the show’s history”

    Love these guys
So funny, love the context and humorous insights they bring to each sketch. Easy to listen to, good banter, and most importantly, not annoying at all.

    Love it!
I am so glad that I found this podcast. I’m a huge SNL fan. I even own the VHS Time Life series of SNL early seasons of 15 tapes. I love how these guys break down the episodes. They tell it like it is. Keep up the great work and I’m excited to hear future episodes in the fall.

Review of SNL 1977 Buck Henry finale
This is a review for a specific episode of the podcast. I wish these guys would review more episodes from the first 5 years of the show. I was in college at the time SNL started and actually lived through the era. Its interesting to hear an opinion of the old stuff from someone that is not ancient like myself. Anyway, back in the day, I don't remember TV shows making a big deal out of a "finale" show. It was simply the last show of the season and that was it. Today, of course, a big deal is made. But a lot of the criticism made here of this specific episodes seems to stem from it being inadequate as a "finale". I actually have no argument or disagreement with what these guys say about an old episode like this. I just feel compelled to get my opinion expressed since I was alive when it was first broadcast.I actually agree with some of what was said about Gilda Radner. At the time I was watching these original seasons Jane Curtin was my favorite female player on the show. I never could figure out what the deal was with Buck Henry either. I know he is funny and a talented writer, but seemed to be an awkward host.... Anyway, yes the podcast is worth listening to for a critical perspective.

It makes you laugh AND think!
With great discussions and insights about SNL, awesome music sprinkled throughout and Andy’s slurred, salty, drunken rants, That Week in SNL is a gem of a podcast!

    The BEST!
Awesome podcast, absolutely can’t stop listening! Great hosts - keep it going, guys!
  • GOD NOT GOD
Just about the perfect SNL podcast
Not to throw shade at other SNL podcasts, because I do listen to and enjoy them, but what sets That Week in SNL apart is the humour of the hosts. They’re not afraid to take the piss out of the show when they say don’t like something, yet are obviously devoted fans of the show, and their criticisms come from a place of love. I easily binged through the first season in a couple weeks, it’s so fun to listen to. And one of the hosts’ name is literally too obscene to post in an Apple Podcasts review. That’s hilarious? A+, would reminisce with again

    Such a nice surprise.
I really like this show. These guys are intelligent and funny. It seems like they know the background that really helps flesh out the episode they're covering. When I test out a podcast to see if I like it, I'll download 3 or 4 eps to give it a chance. After listening to a few of these at work, I was wishing I had downloaded 10 or more. If you're cool, you are probably gonna like this podcast.

    Suel Forrester?
I host a show about the musical guests of Saturday Night Live on a community radio station in Wisconsin. Total coincidence that as I approached season 21 this podcast started up focusing on -- what do you know -- season 21. The hosts are entertaining and after they seemed to be uncertain about pretty basic SNL trivia early on -- yes, Chevy Chase did a fall EVERY week and yes, Phil Hartman played Bill Clinton before Darrell Hammond -- they've settled in to a very enjoyable show. Too often early on they claimed to not understand a reference or a joke, but again, that seems to be less and less an issue as they continue. I don't cover the comedy in anywhere near the detail they do in my show -- the focus is the music -- but I do review the episodes before discussing them in order to hit on the high (or low) points. They're behind where I am so I enjoy hearing their reactions to the same material. We often disagree but I was really looking forward to hearing them slam into Chris Kattan and his godawful Suel Forrester character. Instead they surprised me by ravenously eating up one of the most jaw-droppingly unfunny characters in SNL history. That alone prompted me to chime in here with my thoughts. I hope they continue doing the show -- don't care what season really after they finish 21 -- but I hope to hear less positivity about Chris Kattan in the future! Also enjoyed their take on the Deion Sanders show from season 20. Watching all of the season 20 episodes as I did recently in a fairly short amount of time was truly a depressing experience and I am glad for them that they limited their pain to one episode.

I just got I tunes to rate this podcast. It is definitivelty the best SNL podcast because its hosted by two people who actually like the show. They are funny (looking, no - Gary McDonald), informed, and don't miss much. I recommend it to all SNL fans and it may make some too
