    Part two Hunting Roughed Grouse….
Holy smokes, what a level of intensity! Podcast on steroids for sure. Maybe it’s just me, but I felt overwhelmed with all of the data and information given. I need to take a breather before the next episode. Love the topics, especially the guns. Keep up the awesome work!

Episode 251, Interview with Kyle Warren
Host and Guest where informative. However, as mentioned during the interview, both have the ability to hunt Ruffed Grouse somewhere in the North Woods (in the vicinity of Lake Superior) almost every day; weather and personal life permitting. If I lived there as well, at some point, I wouldn’t be that interested in their thoughts in hunting there. Why? Because I would have on my own gained relatively the same knowledge level regarding the subject matter. Nick you sound like a great guy. But you have painted yourself into a corner. If your discussing anything other than hunting Ruffed Grouse in the Northwoods with your English Setters, it’s rare. And therefore, to listen to your Podcast is becoming more burdensome. I want to learn about hunting Ruffed Grouse in New England, NY, PA, WVA, KY, VA, MD, NC, etc. As mentioned in the interview, I’m one of the “Out of Stater’s” that has one or two weeks to hunt Ruffed Grouse in the UP. So, yeah, I don’t have over a hundred places to hunt in the Northwoods. Hence, hearing about hunting a place once/year is un-relatable for me. Being a novice upland bird hunter with my first versatile dog, I want to hunt other upland bird game species. Where I live in the mid-Atlantic States, the best I have is the hope of getting into Woodcock. I know the Ruffed Grouse is the King. But, I have to live with and hunt the peasant Woodcock. Nick you’re getting too specialized. Boarden your podcast beyond Ruffed Grouse, the Northwoods, English Setters, and Shotguns. Tell me about and interview notable folks hunting Ruffies in other parts of the Country. Don’t tell me about Turkey Hunting; unless you’re interviewing a notable Turkey Hunter. Tell me about how you train your bird dogs. But don’t tell me that “wild birds make bird dogs”! I don’t have wild birds in my neck of the woods to train with my dog. Bottom line: I’ve learned a lot from your Podcast. I very much enjoy your bumper music. Please expand outside of your neck of the woods and experience. And teach me about more how to be a versatile upland game-bird hunter. Thank you sir.

    Good podcast, mostly
Nick Larson does a great job with his topics and interviews. Larson has some unique subjects and very good guests. Boy do I not like listening to Nick Adair! Adair is on this podcast more and more, and I find myself listening less.

    Dusky in the bag
As a solo hunter without a bird dog, this podcast has been extremely helpful. I live in Colorado and mostly hunt waterfowl but wanted to expand and take shot at dusky grouse. The episode with Noah Davis and Ann Jandernoa gave me the knowledge to be successful on my first ever DIY dusky hunt. I love the show and appreciate the information you provide, keep it coming!

    Thanks from Michigan
As someone who has alot of access to grouse habitat this is extremely informative. As someone who also drives across the country to poke at sharpies and chickens, this feels oddly specific to me. Then you get to hear from the dog trainers and guides and hear the input that comes only through multiple breeds, thousands of flushes, and countless amounts of walks through autumn days armed with shells and always heavy dog waters. These guys do a phenomenal job and it shows how much work they really do put into it. Hopefully I’ll see you in some eight year old aspen!

    Awesome
I’m new to upland bird hunting. The first two episodes I had picked were Iowa, and Kansas hunting trips. As an guy who’s a little older getting into this life a little after most do. It was so cool to hear stories. And obviously you see the connection that hunting does that helps bring one another tougher. Thank you Travis. Great show. Also love the dog talk!

    Just what you’re looking for…
…if you’re looking for informative discussions of upland game, guns, dogs, habitat, Q&A with experts, a wide variety of guests, and overall very well-informed and well-delivered discussions. A favorite of mine year round, but especially as bird season nears.

    Episode 184 - Outstanding!
Nick your podcasts continue to be ranked on the top on my list. As the host, you continue to provide a great mix of topics for listeners that are passionate for upland game hunting, bird dogs, shotguns, and wildlife management. I especially enjoyed your interview with wildlife biologist, Kyle Daly about his ongoing projects for woodcock management that would not be feasible without the Pittman-Robertson Act funds. Keep the coming! Paul from Pennsylvania(outdoorman43)

    Episode 173.
It was awesome to hear that people still appreciate the 311s. I was handed down my Savage 311 .16ga from my grandfather. He hunted upland in Minnesota and Iowa from the 1960s till the 1990s. I’ve hunted birds with it from California to Kansas to Tennessee. It’s a brick but swings great and knocks down birds. It will be the gun that is handed down to my son.

    Nick is the man!!!!!!!
Last year started listening to this show when I was getting into my dog training. The info I gained from his podcasts are not only informative on every aspect of the upland world, it’s entertaining and thought provoking. Last year when he decided to really build and develop the brand by taking it another direction, I was lucky enough to be one of his first Patreon supporters. Doing that put me in one of his drawings and I actually won a Dakota 283 kennel. And it’s the best thing I’ve gotten for my dog since I E-Collar. From the awesome spectrum of guests to the amazing shotguns, this podcast rocks.

    Excellent Podcast!
From the great intro (absolutely love it!) to the very end, I am always entertained by this podcast. I usually learn something every time I listen to it. The Project Upland Podcast is very well done. It’s the most professional of all the podcasts to which I subscribe. I highly recommend this podcast. The Project Upland web site is great too! Make sure you watch the videos. They are fantastic! For the PU Team: here are couple of suggestions for you with the idea of making the best podcast even better: 1. The podcast feels very north woods focused. Yes, that’s where the host lives and hunts...but I am guessing most listeners are not from that area. Perhaps being a bit more mindful of the fact that you may have more listeners in California or Texas than Minnesota would make it even more appealing? (If I’m incorrect with my guess, what a great opportunity to expand the audience to places like .) 2. Make them a bit shorter. There seems to be a trend for hunting podcasts to extend past an hour. Ron B has long podcasts. That’s partially because his intros are 15 minutes. Don’t follow his lead. LOL

    Love this podcast
I can’t express how much I love this podcast. Host does a great job interviewing guests, he listens well, comes prepared, outstanding! Inspiring for someone like myself who has a couple of bird dogs, loves training and hunting, and hunting travel. What a great way to get better connected to the Upland community!

    Great Gear Topics
Just listened to the Final Rise podcast from earlier this year, and compared to other vest interviews via podcasts. Ended up ordering the Final Rose Legacy vest and subscribing to Matt Davis’s Podcast. Thanks for the tip Nick!

    Great podcast!
Great show! Love the content! First time gun dog owner and this show has been very helpful. And the stories are awesome! Big fan. Also, when will your theme song be available on iTunes for custom ringtone? 😆 it’s catchy! Would totally purchase that! 😊

    My Favorite Hunting Podcast
I’ve been listening for a few years now and it’s my favorite podcast, especially as we creep into the fall hunting season. I love listening while in the truck scouting or en route to a hunting spot. Nick does a great job with leading questions for the guests and sharing a ton of quality content and stories. I would recommend this to anyone and if you’re a new hunter, go back to the some of the older episodes and listen to talks about habitat!

Keith Coyle Episode #28 Is A Wealth of Knowledge
Just listened to an older episode from May 2018 where you interviewed Keith Coyle on the Churchill method of shooting and proper gun fit. I took 5 pages of notes and am now very motivated to shoot well before the next bird season. Well done in getting Keith to open up about the concepts, his teaching method and reminding us that we over complicate shotgunning. Regards, Michael Armao

Good but too much Ruffed Grouse talk
I enjoy this podcast but it should be called the Ruffed Grouse Podcast. The host, Nick, is very good but his experience and passions are ruffed grouse and vintage side by sides neither of which are of interest to me. I do enjoy the prairie grouse, pheasant and quail shows and anything involving dogs and dog training but there’s way too much grouse and double gun snobbery.

Great show...even for brand new upland hunters

    Thank you for so much
Starting out I want to thank you for swaying me towards cz usa! I knew I wanted a new shotgun but never really considered cz until I started listening to you. I picked up an upland ultra light and love it thank you! I started listening to you prior to getting my gsp lab cross, he’s now 5 months. Thanks for the content and keep it coming! If your ever in Maine and want to get into the Grouse let me know!

A fun way for me to learn more!
I’ve never hunted a bird in my life. But I want to. So much so that I just got a Wirehaired pointing Griffon puppy last year, and am hoping to hunt birds using her and a goshawk in a couple years. This podcast is a great resource, as I’m just now trying to get a basic understanding for this magical world of upland hunting.
