Really want to love the show but I can't
This show is great for the guests they get and the subject matter that they cover. It’s all stuff I want to know but I always quit listening at some point because of the host, Jonathon. I think he is knowledgeable and eventually asks good questions, but with no exaggeration, the ratio of him talking to the guest talking is 2 to 1 or even 3 to 1. It gets frustrating to have to wait patiently for him to ask a 3 minute question to hear a good 1 minute answer from the guest. Although his questions are generally good, in the end I feel I should know more about what the expert guest thinks on a subject vs the host and I find that never happens in this podcast. 50-50 at best with the more talkative guests. Sorry about this but I do believe this show is unique and covers stuff I love. I just get too impatient to finish most shows.

    Get on that snowboard!!
Jonathan and the Blister Team make my commute to and from the office tolerable listening to all their different podcast channels. Now it’s time to get Jonathan on that snowboard!

Blades, teles and snow god appreciation
Give the blister guys a listen if you are anywhere at all into skiing. Get Jonathan on a snowboard already! Skiing ruined my life - If you don’t do it this year, you will only be one year older when you do.

Great show, could stand to tighten up
Overall, an excellent podcast: fascinating guests, a great breadth of interesting and relevant topics, and a truly incredible depth of knowledge and experience in every episode. I've learned so, so much listening to GEAR:30! My sole complaint - not even a complaint really, just something I think could be improved - is that the hosts are prone to wandering off-topic, and getting into long-winded digressions that aren't particularly useful or entertaining in the context of a podcast all about technical gear. I occasionally find myself looking at my phone and saying "okay, get on with it please."
  • Is what it is…pause
Guest pods are good others are no bueno
Feels repetitive. Theres only so many times you can hear a ski referred to as playful. Also, the host’s (Johnathan) voice is annoying it always sounds like he’s whining. The best episodes are the ones with guests…especially bootfitters and boot manufacturers.

Jonathan and the team are the world's finest snow-sport product experts. There is no other team which does more work more thoughtfully and more thoroughly. Their insights are experience-driven. They are so deeply committed to getting objective unbiased results. And the fun they have as a crew is evident and infectious. They've created an enduring platform and community in the world of mountain sports.

    Fantastic Podcast!
I can’t get enough of your podcasts! Your guests and topics are relevant, entertaining and educational. Your ski reviews are transparent, thoughtful, and also educational. A persona can learn a lot about how different ski designs can impact a skis performance or characteristics simply by listening to the reviews and your discussions.

    “Old People”
You just suggested that because I am old I am more likely to be racist and therefore when I die that will be a good thing . . . apparently on the theory I could be racist. Wow. BTW - I am 71 . . . did I make your “Old People” cutoff??? Not sure here. In any case I can tell you one thing that is ‘out’ in 2024 and beyond. For me it is your Podcasts . . . which I listened to all the time on Overcast. Disappointed and also amazed that somebody with your background and education could say something that stupid. But then you’re “young”.

    Amazing Podcast
One of the best ski podcasts I’ve found. So much great content. But also, in for broken wrists.

Gear:30 fills the gaps of a thin snow pack
I’m definitely spending more time on the ski bench fixing rock damage this season, and Gear:30 always provides some much needed entertainment in the gear room. Thanks for all your hard work, and let’s kick up the snow storms in the new year… you’re gonna need some soft days to learn snowboarding! Cya at the Summit, MichaelG

    LETS SEE SOME SNOWBOARDING
Great podcast, would be better if Cody Townsend was in it more regularly though…love the in-depth, no-nonsense, unbiased opinions on gear that enable folks to make educated decisions when purchasing their next setup. Reason why I’m #OneOfTheHundred

    Love it
Great informative and fun discussions about the best activity-skiing (occasionally snow blading and shortly snowboarding?). I love the in-depth discussion of all things ski gear. Any thoughts about reviewing/discussiong ski tuning equipment?

    Great podcast
First off thanks for the wonderful content and discussions. Your podcasts are always in the rotation on the work commute. Thoughts on the blister community reviews: Add Skier type: frontside, off piste, backcountry, freeride, freestyle, racing. Scores: change 0-10 to 1-11, because spinal tap. Reviewer Experience level: think you’ve done a good job of with the levels and descriptions. Maybe you could just add the ability to put a + or - to the level reviewers choose. I agree the advanced/expert area is where this becomes hard to define. There are many skiers who are quite amazing and among the best on the mountain but were never paid to compete at the highest level and these are the skier types I would think fall into that expert category. I think most “good” skiers would fit nicely in the advanced +. The last thing I would say is that many skiers are really great at one form of skiing but not necessarily any good at another. For instance an ex racer who does not ski off piste or in the park or a competitive park skier who has never been on a true frontside or race ski. The former can’t really speak to a ski’s buttering or maneuverability on/off rails or in the air and the latter can’t really speak to how a true carving ski charges the fall line, initiates, completes and releases from a turn. Basically context is key.

Does Blister + Spot actually work?
I feel like we have heard about many superb crashes and close calls. However, we need a real live review on if Blister Plus actually works, straight from the person who promotes the absolute crap out of it, Jonathan. Will it spot him when both wrists end up in casts due to a gruesome bunny slope accident? Will it then cover him on the proceeding injury he sustains on his next attempt to swindle more reviews (ski bike gap jumps? Ski jumping? Ski parachuting? Grass/sand skiing a la Candide Thovex?) Only 27 more ratings till we can find out. We need a full 10,000 word Blister Review, plus Flash Review, plus Deep Dive, straight from the horses mouth. Well… that might get delayed due to not being able to type, so hopefully his jaws don’t get wired shut from the injuries so he can still voice to text his review. For what it’s (Ells)worth, I love the show and am a Blister Spot member. Absolute brain candy of the best kind. But I need to know if this Blister + Spot stuff works before I send it into Oblivion this winter. I won’t trust any other review source on the planet other than Blister for skis, why should I trust someone else’s review of Spot? Jonathan, you’re my only hope.

I’m Not Reviewing to See Jonathan Ellsworth Get on a Snowboard
I’m writing a review to see Jonathan on a snowboard … getting more than SIX INCHES OF AIR. In all seriousness, I had long ignored the entire Blister universe of content because I wasn’t a subscriber. With a large and young family I’m happy just to see each little one gain their wings and ski away from me by themselves, while working on my own carving to stay slow and close to them. Head Supershape e-Originals are my one and only game, so why look further? But Gear:30 is not mere gearhog heaven. There is also much humor, wisdom, ethos, and pathos. It is a rich experience that brings diversity of thought to my busy life, and lets me dream a little. And as with the best podcasts, the appearance of a new episode always sends a thrill down my back. Just do it. There is no try.

    Fly on the wall.
Jonathan and lately Kara talk gear with all sorts in the ski industry from bootfitters at a local shop to product designers at major ski companies. Especially like the deep dives on boot technology with Matt Manser and the yearly updates from Scott Andrus at ON3P.

    Go for Broke!
This show encourages my bank account to go for broke! So now it’s time that Jonathan go for broke squared: two broken arms but snowboard experience!

Edit out the excessive banter at start
First of all, I’m a member who’s on auto pay, so obviously I’m a huge fan. Second of all I agree with Jonathan‘s idea that if you’ve listened to a podcast more than five times you owe a review [and I don’t want to see him break his wrist on a snowboard!] I’ve listened to a number of Gear 30 and BLISTER pods, and there is often excessive bantering at the beginning of the podcast until they get to the subject at hand. The Three Ski Buying Mistakes podcast is particularly bad where it took them about 45 minutes to get to the subject at hand! That’s ridiculous. One of the wonderful things about blister is they respect their audience enough to do real reviews, so I think it’s fair that you respect your audience enough to edit out the 15 to 45 minutes of banter that can occur at the front end of an episode. You all would not allow 2 pages of nonsense in your written reviews so why allow it here? I’m asking for music or anything but this is a professional operation and obviously more listeners is good for Blister’s bottom line. So take the next step and make your pods professional as well. Like I said, I love the podcast. I love the site. I’m a huge fan boy (with the exception of Luke’s woman snowboard bangs hanging out of his helmet😋) but bring a little bit more professionalism to your podcasts. Use the editing function. We are busy people too. Keep up the otherwise excellent outstanding work!

Gear reviews for the passionate skier
I have been skiing for around 52 years. I’ve been buying skis and gear since 1977. For years, I relied on simple gear reviews from Powder Magazine, Ski, Magazine, Skiing magazine, Freeskiing Magazine, etc. Somehow I stumbled upon BLISTER. I believe it was through YouTube. Now I am hooked on the Gear 30 podcast. I’m also hooked on the BLISTER podcast. I am sincere in this review, but I would be remiss If I did not confess that one of my primary motivations for writing this review is the opportunity to see Jonathan Ellsworth attempt to snowboard. If in fact, Jonathan does attempt to snowboard, I will relate a firsthand story from my Ski Patrol days about responding to an incident in the half pipe that involved a snowboarder. It is my sincere wish that Jonathan never experience anything akin to what I saw that day, which is seared into my memory. Let’s just say I hope Cody Townsend is not a prophet. Jonathan, I am following you on Instagram as Captain Gnar— you can DM me there to thank me being one of the 100 listeners on the BLISTER Podcast episodes with Cody. With respect and anticipation, your humble listener, Paul Chiavini.

    Into the weeds
I've long considered myself a gear nerd, but Gear:30 frequently goes deep into the weeds to explore topics. I always learn new things. Also, snowboarding.

    Fun and informative
I thought I was a gear nerd but I realize now I’m just - normal. Thank you Gear:30. I enjoy the deep dives into topics and often wish I could be a part of the conversation. Keep up the good work. Oh, but can you try to limit use of the word “like” as a filler. It kinda, like, drives me crazy.

    Informative podcast
I work in a ski shop and I love listening to gear 30. It helps me stay up too date on all the new gear that comes out and that helps me provide better information to the people who come into the shop looking for new gear.

    Blister podcast
The blister team is absolutely terrific. They helped me with suggestions on equipment in the past. Their podcast is fun to listen to and so informative. I got trip ideas from these guys as well and went to Iceland heliskiing after their podcast about the trip. They are such a huge value add onto my skiing. They are just top notch!

    Fantastic podcast on other platforms
Great podcast and one of our favorites to listen to on Spotify the far superior podcast app. I downloaded Apple Podcasts on the singular Apple device in our house because I want to see Jonathon shred the gnar that bad on a snowboard. Also does feel like comp out that ONLY Apple Podcast reviews are accepted to see the snowboard video we all want - sincerely your faithful Android listener who doesn’t want to join the Apple Cult
