    Thank you
Love this podcast! A million thanks for the Frampton interview. I have been waiting a long time for that one. You always ask the best questions and not the same old questions that we always hear. I would love to hear an interview with Joe Walsh, Terry Reid, Alice Cooper and I could go on and on. Great job and thank you again.

    Great music industry pod
Love the exec stories, producer behind the scenes, and artist stuff. Keep it up, Bob!

Why does anyone listen to this guy?
Why would anyone listen to a podcast on music by a guy who was so wrong and “Mean” to Taylor Swift? Your $100,000 bonus from her is not in the mail.

    Legendary Lefsetz
No one, and I mean no one, interviews quite like Bob. Four hours with Dwight D. Yokam, and I’m already wishing there was a part two of this conversation! I look forward to this podcast every week!
  • Estavilt
    Nasty, malicious, arrogant
If you want to hear the definition of bloviate, look no further then this podcast. This guy ( who obviously believes his self importance) constantly interrupts his guests, he is the type of person who only likes to hear himself speak. This distracts and alienates listeners from what could be some potential genuine insights.

This is the podcast I look forward too the most!
    The Dwight interview is gold!!!

    Excellent guests, in depth interviews
Highly recommend Bob’s podcast. He has a deep history and knowledge of the music world and has amazing guests. Great conversations, and Bob is a very good interviewer, he asks insightful questions and lets the guests talk.
  • Nothing Personal I Said
    Entertaining and educational
Bob’s interview style is wonderful. It is all about the guests at all times. I learn something every time. Thank you Bob.

Writing this mostly to counter the whole “Bob interrupts too much” objection. Simply put: it’s just flat *wrong.* The great value of Bob’s podcasts is that he knows what his listeners want to hear. He’s often interviewing people that have immense spans of influence and all-but impossible-to-catalogue lists of achievements. Politely but firmly, Bob always makes sure we get a sense of who they are: what their childhood was like, their relationship with their parents, siblings, grade-school and high-school —what made them into the giants / rebels / originals they are. This is the good stuff! And then he gets to he big records, the key achievements and break ups…the headlines, and makes sure we get behind them. Bob does his homework. And this podcast is just another one of his generous and candid offerings. Would that we had dozens more like him.

    Ian Anderson interview
The best Ian Anderson interview ever

    Kudos, Bob.
The Dave Schools interview is award worthy. The pacing, subject matter, and the loquacious, not uptight sounding Dave Schools are enough to warrant 2 listens. Anyone who has spent time with a band on the road or in the studio will find gems in this discussion. For that matter, anyone who has traveled together through life with friends and family will find the eloquence and candor refreshing. Kudos, Bob Eat it, Gene Simmons

    Don’t interrupt!
My god. The host has great guests, asks decent questions, but constantly interrupts the guests, and not just when they’re veering off on tangents. It’s maddening. Giles Martin begins to answer a question about his father not being able to find work and just as he begins to illustrate his point by telling a story about being on an airplane once — and the host cuts him off and poses another question. If one was to transcribe these podcasts, I have a feeling at least a third of all the content would be the host talking.

One of the best interview based podcasts out there
This man is a deeply knowledgeable and accomplished long-form interviewer. His guests span a wide spectrum of interest and he asks probing questions that are informed rather than intrusive. I enjoy the variety and was especially impressed by his conversations with Rod Argent, Bill Curbishley and Michael Connelly.
  • ER1634
    He gets to the point
Without a doubt.....one of the best interviewers I have ever listened to.

    Irving
I’m not sure anyone’s ever got Irving to recant his professional life so well, if ever. Really well done. I enjoyed this way more than i expected, especially all the Illinois stories. Truth be told I put the US Open on mute and listened straight through. You both shined on this one.

    Awful
Never heard of this guy, but gave it a listen because Kimmel was a guest. Host constantly interrupting Kimmel’s answers and stories to ask about mundane details and even when he didn’t interrupt, the questions were bad. Hopefully I can live the rest of my life without having to listen to this guy named Lefsetz again.

    If you're into music
Bob does great in depth interviews where you really get to know the person as Bob navigates the journey from their childhood through the road they travelled to get to their success and notoriety . Both informative and entertaining!

Bob would appear to be a lockdown fascist. Should stick to the music
Has Bob caught SHEEP-19 via the internet and MSM?

    Acquired Taste but fascinating
After unsubscribing to the Letter years ago I was uncertain about this when it was forwarded to me. The Steven Wilson interview was a different side than I have heard. Now digging through the archive and great episodes with Jake Gold and Shep and Giles.

Pretty good podcast, small change could make it great
Bob is a knowledgeable interviewer but the type who doesn't really listen and respond. He just goes on to the next prepared question. It's too bad, because that'd be a small thing to change and make this a really great podcast. This is not to say it's not worth listening to, just something that might pull you out of a conversation that is disjointed at times.

    Thanks Bob
Loving these interviews, can’t wait ‘til every Thursday when the new ones come out. Great in-depth stories, stuff I want to know. Bob lets ‘em talk and is perfect at knowing when to slow the guest down, catching fascinating items that would otherwise get away. Bob’s choice in guests for the show is amazing. Thanks, 64 Pbass

    “Bob in Maui”
Love hearing the perspectives of people inside the industries that Bob L shares with us. The Bob Rock episode moved me to write as I had always wanted to know more about “Bob in Maui” since I heard that line on the song “Spoon” from Gord Downie’s “Introduce Yerself” record. Thank you for all of the great episodes..

    Nice podcast
These interviews are a treasure trove of american pop music and the people and roads within...unlike many new pod casters bob is thorough, listens well follows up, and asks exactly what I would want to hear ...thank you bob!!!!The biggest surprise is that Bob has a vocal texture of Dr Demento

    Worst Podcaster Worst Podcast
The voice. The questions. Everything about this show is a zero. Bob sounds like the guy in high school who wants to sit at the cool kids table. I also thought this was a music podcast but then he has Ahmet Zappa on!!!
  • Ted McCallister Sr.
    Terrible voice
Gave it one star cus I couldn’t give it zero.

Just Cut to the Chase already!
As interesting and as amazing as his guests are on this show, I really wish his interviews were more focused on the career of the people he talks to on the show and less on their life story. I feel like his interviews are slow moving and not everybody finds the information about his guest’s personal life and childhood interesting. I really just wish he would cut to the chase and get to the real nitty gritty and the actually fascinating information about his guests in the interviews he does such as the stories behind the songs they made famous and what inspired them to write/record them and the behind the scenes details on the recording sessions of these world renown hit songs and their days on the road touring with other musicians as well and skip over their life story/early beginnings. But I must digress that it’s cool that he’s able to get his guests to open up to him like that and talk about their personal life in such detail with him and I must say not everybody that does podcast interviews can do that with their guests. And maybe I’m the only one who has this opinion and obviously if his listeners dig his style of interviewing I doubt he’ll switch it up and change the focus of his interviews to more of his guest’s career and less on their personal life. Or maybe I’m just impatient and I just need to listen to the full episodes.. but I also don’t like some of his questions in which I think are totally not career focused at all. I just honestly wish he would start his interviews with questions about their career and not on their life story/personal life. But that’s just me. Other people would probably disagree with me on that and like the way he does his interviews and they don’t want him to change a thing about them. And I also wish his episodes were shorter since most people don’t have the time to sit through and hour and a half interview but I’m sure his audience does though and they probably don’t mind the super long length of his episodes.

Interesting info but too many interruptions
I was excited to discover this podcast for the topics covered and I find the guests to be very interesting. However, Bob interrupts their stories way too often and that makes it hard to follow and disjointed. Not for me.

    Total junk
This guy advertises deceptively on other podcasts. Utterly annoying.

    Interesting stories!
Especially the Jack Douglas episode. Excellent!

    Annoying
Welcome welcome welcome to the most annoying voice on any podcast! Stop running your commercial on other podcasts. Your voice is not meant for radio.
  • D Plenn
    Love it!
The Jack Douglas Show was my first listen. If they’re all that good, I’m in! Incredible stories. Mindblowing stories. Great questions and a sense of when to step in or just let him talk. Only suggestion: a limiter that will smooth out the volume differences between the commercial and the show. It will help with Bob’s on-mic guffaws too! Not criticizing - I laugh the same way! Anyway, carry on!

    Stop advertising. Please.
Much like the Ron Burgundy podcast, The horrendously annoying advertising has driven me 100% away from this. Please stop.

    A must listen for......
......any fan of music and the business side of music. Most of the guests are from the heyday of the business but the discussions are always include the state of the industry today. Bob asks great questions however he interrupts the guests too much. Just let them finish talking before you ask the next question man!
  • J.MacDFW
I was late to the party but happy to make it...
I’m 29 and not in the music biz, so I didn’t know who Bob was. I discovered him from an interview with RuPaul on Ru’s What’s the Tea podcast. I was hooked and had to look him up. I know get the legendary letter and have been working on all the back episodes of the podcast. If you’ve ever listened to music, had questions about Spotify or want to know how the Amazon Echo is changing the world, you’ve gotta tune in.

Found by accident and love it!
I was unfamiliar with Bob and stumbled upon this by accident but love the candid open interviews. I feel like I should be chilling with a cocktail while listening. Thanks Bob for the interesting and informative interviews :)

    Giles Insights
Long-time reader, first-time listener, first-time writer, moved to review given the rich "experience" and full dynamics between Bob and Giles. Hearing the indepth exchange with humor, history, Dad George, The Beatles (of course), Paul specifically and so much more helped round out so much more for Giles' LOVE vision and diverse career path. Loved It!
