What makes a great Catholic homily, and what goes into the art of delivering it well? “Preach” is a new weekly podcast from America Media that features a diverse cast of the finest Catholic preachers. Each week, preachers open up their hearts and minds, sharing their spiritual lives, approaches to interpreting scripture and techniques for preparing the best homilies. On each episode, listeners will meet Catholic preachers, learn about their communities and hear their Sunday homilies, delivered with a podcast audience in mind. Very promising start…

I was moved by the content of Fr Greg Chisholm’s homily…and encouraged by the discussion and insights that enveloped it. What a blessing, to know that we have priests like him (and Ricardo) who take this responsibility to heart. Great way to introduce conversation

My family likes to listen to these and then we discuss what we gained from each passage and reading. The voice is so clear and really helps present the word clearly. We were very disappointed it was so short, would love these to go with the posts every week.

Imagine is a wonderful gift

While I wish it had its own channel, the first two episodes of Imagine have been a wonderful gift to us at the beginning of Lent. As is true with the Examen podcast America produces, Imagine takes a prayer practice I’ve long heard about but never had the patience to do fruitfully and serves it up in a format that forces me to slow down to a pace that allows me to be open to its graces. Thank you. Tucker Redding is an able guide through this. I really appreciate this!

Oasis in the Desert

At home we read the Lectionary before going to Sunday Mass then follow it by listening and reading to Fr Michael Simone’s insightful reflection. For the many times the priest at Mass gives a flat sermon, Fr Michael brings the Sunday readings into focus for which we are tremendously grateful. AMDG
