This is my favorite surf podcast mostly because it isn’t about surfing. I’m no media reviewer…but this is 5 star fun all the way.

Best surf, non surf podcast out there.

Great show. It took a few years, but I've started to appreciate Chas, or the persona of Chas. Or more accurately, listening to David cleverly coax Chas in and out of his contrived person - Neither knowing nor caring where the line of division frolics. In the end, Chas is an everyman in fancy loafers. He is you and he is me and we all lie to ourselves just a little. They also talk about the WSL and some surfing.

The bad-news bears of pop-surf culture. Never a dull moment with these SoCal bros. WSL should hire these guys as consultants, seriously. Or have they already, and it’s all a big heist?

The low stars are FOElo (friends of Elo) and other adult learners. Wsl blew Covid by trying to be too WOKE. Dave has put in a lot of time and work into creating the podcast network for surf pods.

David and Chas put out the most entertaining podcast you can find. Funny, witty, irreverent... It ticks all the boxes you would see on a movie poster. Seriously though, very, very good. I listen to every episode, sometimes twice, and can’t wait for the next one.

I had a long layover in a hotel, I listened because i feel obligated as there are no shows about surfing, and I’m in the business of surf, I battled thru the 1.5 hr podcast, this podcasts is as boring as the WSL who’s ceo the closest he ever got to surfing was supping in the Great Lakes of United States of America, thousands of miles from surfing centers, and Slater not going to Australia, I know why but I’m not telling, and it’s not what you think, and the people that were there would know, and nobody’s talking hahah. I gave five stars and that’s probably ubers fault, but yeah

I’m an avid podcast listener. I listen to everything from The Joe Rogan Experience, to Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History and many other’s in between both surf and non-surf related. And I can honestly say that this is my favorite podcast, by far. The relentless honesty about all-things surf it’s so refreshing. Plus the comedy factor keeps me coming back for more. My favorite comment so far was an oldie but a goodie… “Matt Wilkinson has 40 year-old mom hair”. I still laugh at that today. Love the Pod. Keep up the good work boys! - John, from Encinitas

Trying to listen to Chaz Smith is like trying to listen to Steven A Smith. Impossible

My favorite episode was when Chas was away sailing. The only reason 4 stars is because he talks too much. Other than that the content is spot on 👌🏽Should be the grit with David Lee Scales not chas poopy butt

Even as so many compeatators have entered the surf podcst field, DLS proves that his years of committment and work honing his craft has kept his far above the field. He knows how to produce quality and has really sharpened his interview skills. Love Chas, but on his own his lack of podcast producing expertise is evident. Keep it up DLS!

Really though, I enjoy this 80% of the time.

Interesting perspective until they devolve into douchey dudebros. Example “fat” Australian woman comedian.

Love this podcast! It’s such a refreshing reprieve from typical surf media with a stripped down, no B.S. conversation between two surfers. Sure they cover current topics but thankfully it’s not the surf news. David and Chas take time to meander through topics just like real people do with real conversations, tangents included. While they are industry guys, they bring a humble, everysurfer lens to their talks that makes you want to give them both a Kook of the Day feature as well as an award for stretching surf media into a new era with conversations that matter. Always entertaining - good on ya lads!

Very entertaining conversations about the surf world. Love it every time there is a new podcast

I kind of love the idea of the UFC style card within surfing to make it more interesting and I would probibly pay for the the episode, however, what then would the cost be to be a spectator at the showdown at Pipeline be? The UFC model also factors in box office sales into their purse I am sure, how does something like the WSL do this under the idea posed in this episode? I liked the debate on the airs, would love to hear you guys reachout further to perhaps Tony Alva who was one of the surfers turned skaters and fetured in Hal Jepson's 1975 surf classic Super Session, he would have an interesting take I am certain.

JohnJohn past his prime? Ha! He’s coming off back to back world titles! Def like the idea of him maybe dropping off tour to do events like Cape Fear and other key contests throughout the year, though. ....as long as he’s still a wildcard at Chopes and Pipe.

Chas makes Scales tolerable, and the Grit is on all the surf trends. The show is often gold when they focus on the sport and the lifestyle that are surfing. They should avoid the gerry springer type moments as that show was forced and lame. Fyi, “welcome to paradise” is a must read if you care at all about surfing or the north shore. I prob wont bother watching the lisa anderson movie, just how it is. The WSL is lame and the margies debacle proves it... Can u imagine what AI would say?!
