A great pod cast to get in the overall vibe of the wargaming community using a line up of top tier designer to show where the community is heading.

The interviews are well done. My only recommendation is that the description include a little bit more on who the interviewee is. Include what they've designed or what is being discussed. This helps decide which podcasts to download and listen to and not have to look up who the interviewer is.

This podcast rekindled the interest in the hobby again. My driving interest waned during the early 90’s while starting a family but now with my wife and I becoming empty nesters, wargaming is roaring back. Thanks for riding shotgun for this encore.

This podcast is great for anyone interested in the wargaming hobby. Excellent guests and great sound quality (compared to other similar podcasts). He even throws in some quirky episodes about things like magic with is nephews which is light hearted and a fun personal touch.

Harold does a wonderful job getting his interview subjects to open up about game design, and also to share some of themselves as people. It is enlightening to learn of the choices—sometimes politically fraught—that designers make, which makes me more appreciative of what they do and also better equips me to take a critical stance toward their work. Harold’s style is friendly and relaxed. I look forward to more!

The podcast is great. It is enjoyable to hear the inside of the gaming industry and the banter between Harold is always amusing and interesting.

I don’t listen to many podcasts, but this is definitely my favorite. The casual conversations make it enjoyable, and I learn about more than just the newest games. Truly excellent!

I appreciate how Harold always makes the show about his guests. He gives them room to deep dive topics at their own pace.

I have been listening to Harold’s podcast from the very beginning (and after having repeated plays of his excellent American Revolution COIN game). Harold is an outstanding interviewer: he asks deep and probing questions of his guests and then gives them full scope to answer the questions. He listens to their responses and follows up with deeper questions. He is not interested in airing his views, but sincerely seeks insights and understanding of his guests. He has had the premier Wargame designers as his guests. If you have any interest in Wargames or the game design process, this is the podcast for you.

The interview with Morgane Gouyon-Rety in episode #17 has cemented its status as my new favorite boardgaming podcast, but I’ve enjoyed all the episodes I’ve listened to so far, especially #1, #2, #6, and #16. And I’m not even a wargamer! (though that may have to change...)

I tend to shy away from interview heavy podcasts. Not Harold's. The podcasts episodes are insightful and entertaining. Recommend giving him a listen.

This review singularly consists of me saying nice things about the podcast. 😊 Harold B does a fantastic job of interviewing game designers and other people in the business. I want to say, “I like this one best,” but I have many ties for #1. He interviews people with diverse backgrounds in gaming. As an example, not just wargames, but John Company & An Infamous Traffic, about the East India Company & the Opium Trade in China, respectively. (From the ‘cast with Cole Wehrle.) The interview with Mark Herman, where Mark talks about statistics of card deck draws, and Monte Carlo simulations of the plays? Chef kiss. And Gene B talking to the designers of Syrian COIN game at GMT warehouse? Wow. I’ll stop here. Give it a listen. You’ll be glad you did.

There are several podcasts that review games but this is the "singularly" best podcast that interviews today's top designers and publishers. Harold covers a lot of ground with an easy-going style. Through these podcasts, you get the history of wargame design, why certain designers went in a certain direction, and the personalitties behind our hobby.

A great listen that includes interesting guests and tremendous insight into war (ish) board games. Very much enjoy this one.

Very interesting conversations and content primarily about war games. The interview with Mark Herman was the best.

Harold on games has the most entertaining and thought provoking interviews of any wargaming podcast around.

This is a great show for those new to the hobby as well as the old guard of the gaming enthusiasts . Harold has invited us into the “back room” of historic board gaming to hear from the designers themselves.

Because he speaks the language of wargames designers he is able to pull some really interesting stuff out of thse designers. Great stuff from the top designers.

Harold puts out a top notch tabletop war gaming podcast featuring interviews with premiere game designers in the industry. Their conversations are casual and insightful. The episodes are well produced with great indie music and unique “on the scene” segments, such as conversations at board game conventions or at game shops that have a documentary feel to them. It’s a must listen to anyone passionate about hobby board gaming.

Amazing content. Best new wargame podcast available. It has joined Wargames to Go, Wild Weasel, and Rally in the Valley as one of my favorites.

Another wargame podcast is always appreciated, and Harold does a great job bringing on interesting guests.

This is a great show for people already interested in wargaming and those who are curious about it. I'm one of the crossover folks and really enjoy the insight into this part of boardgaming.

This podcast is getting better and better. I think Harold is getting more comfortable in his role. The last two with Roger Miller and Mark Herman were home runs. Anytime you can get Mark on the show to talk game theory- do it. Keep em coming.

This is a fantastic show with some great insights into the design process of creating wargames from the top minds in the genre. The depth of knowledge of the industry and subject matter makes for fascinating listening. It's one not to be missed!

Super interesting to hear one game designer (Harold being too humble to mention his own COIN game design contribution) interviewing another he has worked with in the past. Great questions and high production values. Looking forward to future episodes which will be instant listens!

The mix of music and a very congenial interview reminds me a lot of the Guns, Dice, Butter podcast. Very much a look at the people/fun side of the hobby.
