    Fantastic, but terrible mid-roll ads!
I’ve been listening to this podcast for years, but recently it seems more ads have been inserted into the runtime. One minute, I'm a fly on the wall in a heated debate among Lincoln's cabinet, and the next I'm being shouted at to visit my local Nissan dealership. Talk about whiplash! I get that they need to support the podcast somehow, but there should be an ad-free rss feed of the show made available for a fee. I would pay it gladly!

Great passion. Details unmatched. So glad I found this podcast.

    Good stories but jumbled events
He does a good job of telling a concise history of each campaign however not sure I like the out of sequence events of the Civil War. For example why tell the story of the Chattanooga Campaign before the Battle of Chickamauga. I just started listening so I unscrambled the episodes to listen to in order. It flows much better that way.

    It’s in the details
If you’ve already listened to many fine podcasts about American history, this will be the podcast that can explain those lingering questions of the how and why. The details and nuances discussed here are fascinating. Well worth a listen!

    Fantastic Storytelling!
If you are a fan of Dan Carlin’s hardcore history - you will love this podcast.! The storytelling…the attention to detail….all come together to make you really feel what it was like back during America’s most troubled time. Thoroughly enjoyable. Learned so many interesting nuances about the events that transpired back in the 1860’s.

    Engaging, interesting and patriotic
The narrator engages the listener with his obvious passion and pathos for this era of our history. He additionally makes marked but minimal commentaries that make this history relevant to our times. I have yet to hear any of his podcast segments where I don’t learn something. As a long standing Civil War aficionado, the obvious dedication to excellence in this podcast is appreciated. The ending of “Let There Be Peace” simply choked me up. I wish there were more historical podcasts that were so skillfully and lovingly presented. We need this country to understand our past so that we can learn from our successes, challenges, incompetence and failures as a nation. Well done, Sir: indeed, very well done.

    Best Civil War Podcast
Entertaining and engaging. Whether you are a novice historian or history buff, there's something here for you. The narrator's storytelling style is a blend of Ken Burns and Shelby Foote, in the best way. The episode "Let us have peace" moved me to tears. Bravo, Mr Kriger.

    Outstanding!
I’m a long distance truck driver an I have a deep passion for the Civil War. I find myself wanting to know more about a particular battle or the politics of the day especially when I pass through a particular area. For example I passed through Murfreesboro & was hoping to find a podcast on Stones River an oh did I find one. So good! Great facts but with a human touch that makes u feel your on the battlefield. Highly recommended.

    Captivating!
As a civil war reenactor I’m very well versed in the history of the war and often unimpressed by podcasts on the subject. However, this is by far my favorite podcast. It is the perfect balance of facts and feelings and is absolutely captivating.
