It’s a topic that I never imagined I’d get into- but, the historic look through the popes and the events that helped to shape the church.

I turn this on and just clean. The way the podcast goes just makes it easy to know what is being said and keep up without having to put all my focus into listening to it. The longer episodes are easy to listen to because the stories are typically WILD, which make it fun, and the shorter ones are easy because they go by quickly, you hear the rankings (always hilarious), and then it’s on to the next one. I’ve been listening for 7 weeks now and am only up to Pretty Mast but it’s gone by so fast and I find myself excited for the next day so I can clean and listen more 😂

Great podcast for casual listening. Often have to stop and look up pictures of the popes though because of how saintly they sound…

A nice amount of serious facts and discussion but combined with just enough humor and lighthearted discussion to not take itself too seriously while still leaving you informed and coming back for more. The hosts have great chemistry that keeps your attention and keeps you laughing. Give it a try!

I recently began listening and am almost caught up! A fun way to learn about history through the lens of the Roman Catholic Church! Fun and light hosts who make you laugh every episode. Hope we can have regular episodes soon.

I started binging this podcast early this year and love the mix of well-researched history and wit. The episode with The Other Half was a great way to come back and I look forward to more thematic episodes like this as well as continued profiles of individual popes. Overall I’d recommend the series as one of the best of the latest generation of history podcasts.

Such a great podcast! The perfect mix of facts and humor, while still staying on topic. The girls are a perfect team. I was late to the podcast, and now that I’m finally caught up to present episodes I’m sad to have to wait lol.

This podcast is well researched and loaded with insights on church history. The hosts do not encumber their analysis with any strict reverences to the papacy, but it is not overtly hostile to religion either. The show's intro admits that is slightly blasphemous, so that should be expected. The humor is enjoyable, including the "miracles" sound bits and the Pope Watch bits. I'm enjoying listening to it alongside other rexipod shows. Stick with the show! It will grab you by the pontificles, and take you for a fun ride.

A must listen for those interested in the history of the church.

Learned about this show from the Other Half podcast. I love binge learning about historical figures. Wish I had known about this podcast before I went to Vatican. Keep up the good work ladies!

Interesting topic, engaging hosts, easy -to-follow format

I get that it’s entertainment, but there were just too many mistakes in the episode about Peter for me to ignore. Even if they’re just minor errors that you have to be familiar with the source materials to pick up on, the fact that some basic mistakes were made means that I can’t trust any of the info for subjects I know less about. The hosts are pretty funny, so if you’re just looking for a lighthearted show with some laughs it’s alright, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you want to learn as well.

This is a terrific podcast! If you are interested in Church History or History in general, listen to this. The content is fascinating and the hosts make it very interesting and approachable.

I’ve been listening to Fry and Bry for a couple months now and I’m up to John IV. This is without a doubt my favorite history podcast to date! Learning about a lot of the popes has been super entertaining and it’s also helped me connect with my super Catholic grandma. Can’t wait to be caught up on the series and the adventures of Pope Francis in Pope Watch!

I’m learning so much from this podcast. Enjoyably and enthusiastically presented.

Once I ran out of History of Byzantium episodes, I started looking for some other chronological narrative history I could listen to at bedtime. Pontifacts turned out to be terrible for that because it makes me laugh too much! But I love the show anyway. Bry’s enthusiasm for the subject is infectious, Fry’s byplay makes the show lively, and their chemistry together keeps you engaged through centuries of old white dudes getting Mad On The Epistlenet.

I listened to some BAD papal history podcasts before finding Fry and Bry...and I’m so glad I didn’t give up hope. The show strikes an outstanding balance of information and entertainment. Well done ladies - look forward to listening for years to come!

Papal Enthusiasm! As a historian of the papacy myself, I enjoy others’ takes on the the heirs of St. Peter. Bry and Fry do a marvelous job of telling the stories of the Bishops of Rome with a great sense of humor. You’ll love it!

Bry and Fry have taken on the gargantuan quest of reviewing and rating all the popes ever. I have heard of some of the big names (or at least vaguely recall them from history class) but this podcast fills in the gaps. The hosts are engaging and funny as they uncover some fascinating (often forgotten sometimes invented) papal history.

Love the show but the first five episodes don’t seem to be available. That’s why it’s only 4 stars

Fry and Brea offer a fun, entertaining, and educational history of the Popes. They make obscure theological differences interesting, and their banter (little bean, sports ball, and patron saints) keep the history flowing smoothly. I highly recommend. Brian Kane Cape Cod, Massachusetts, May 2020

You know this is a good podcast when it makes me go “I wondered what the implications of that in theology class were.” Or, “we definitely believe that but I never knew it could be so prone to humor!”

Bry and Frie are knowledgeable, entertaining, and just a little irreverent, enough to make things a interesting. I was especially impressed with how the handled the early Popes considering the dearth of information. I can’t wait for Alexander VI!

This is a fun and educational podcast. Styled like Rex Factor, the ladies cover each and every Pope, starting with Saint Peter. But it is also rather irreverent (as is Rex Factor about its subject matter). But be warned: If you are a Catholic who is susceptible to being easily offended by jokes and comments about the church’s leaders (such as referring to Pope John III as ‘Salty Dog’) and actions, you might want to steer clear. If you are not easily offended, give it a listen.

I could get more information out of the first paragraph of Wikipedia article. The hosts are not knowledgeable about basic theology and mock foundation of Christianity as some sort of joke. I started listening to this because of the history of Byzantium expecting some similar content. However. this podcast is about the two peoples personalities and how quirky they are. They have no academic rigor, nor discretion on the dialogue, nor contextual historiography holding the past to 2019 moral standards.

Bry and Fry take a difficult subject and make it fun, funny and, of course, informational. I'm still getting through some of the early Popes, but the show is much different than many of the traditional history podcasts out there. Very impressed how they find some information on even the most obscure and unknown Popes and are still able to make it interesting. Keep it up!

A perfect blend of education and entertainment! I just finished the most recent episode after months of binge listening and look forward to many more episodes!

I listen to this podcast every Monday. I enjoy the ranking system. Through the I was also able to start listening to Rex Factor, who inspired them. I enjoy their banter and AHH POPE WATCH! Keep it coming. I’m waiting for the papal reigns John XII and Alexander VI.

I’m on the third episode and fed up with how disrespectful you gals are when talking about the popes and other religious figures. Also, your cussing is crossed the line of rude and flat out disrespectfulness.

Big fan of Totalus Rankium and Rex factor. Listened to the initial 16 episodes and then Your most recent one. One star for doing a podcast on popes. I don’t know much about them and want to learn more. One star for wearing bias honestly. A well regarded pope podcast hides theirs in big words. You guys make sure you have whatever facts there are then let it rip. One star for just having fun together. Minus stars: Even though the bell ring partially obscures the language, the brain automatically fills in. There are more and more bell rings. I have to avoid those words in public so avoid listening too much of it. Minus star for fine line between humor and snarky. Obviously I am in the minority, so you two be you!

I took longer than I should have to write this, but I totally LOVE this podcast! Bry and Fry are not only very knowledgeable of their subject matter, but also hilarious (not the pope... I hope. They don’t seem like party poopers to me). Definitely recommended, 10 out of 5 stars.

Thanks to the wonderful @BritannicaPax, I’ve discovered @pontifactspod, a delightfully cheeky podcast that rates all the popes as they’ve come down the ages. While they don’t skimp on the humor, they also don’t skim over actual facts so it’s perfect even for us atheists. :)

With great aplomb and fanfare, Pontifacts arrived on the busy history podcast scene, sporting a familar format but an understudied field: the Popes.
