This is one of the greatest podcasts I listen to. The analysis of an album is deep, fun, and historic. While I love all of the people, my favorite is Amanda. However all have deep and unique knowledge. If I could select an album for analysis, I would suggest either Paul Kantner/Grace Slick Blows Against the Empire or their Baron von Toolbooth and the Chrome Nun. Thank you for the podcast that I can’t wait till the next one is released.

This is one of the best music podcasts I’ve heard, and my absolute favorite right now. Yes, they do discuss plenty of early Prog artists, but not disproportionate to the other episodes covering a huge range of genres. It’s also delightful how the Prog references become a standing joke, so they aren’t taking themselves deadly seriously. Speaking of jokes, the hosts are some of the wittiest folks I’ve had the pleasure to encounter. It’s not a comedy show, but it makes me laugh more than most that are. This is a charming group of friends who have great chemistry, are very knowledgeable, and seem to love what their doing. A thoroughly informative and entertaining hang-out kind of show. If you hate music, humor, knowledge, and fun, stay away.

Really enjoy the depth they go into about the albums and the fact they play clips of the songs

Prepare to face the music. As it’s slowly ruined forever by a group of certified morons who TRULY believe they’re far better then you (thanks to a BIZZARE and nearly sociopathic affection for the Moody Blues). Listen in horror as the wannabe staff of the High Fidelity record store insult the everyday musical taste of just about everyone.

Too bad, since there are so few of these types of music review/history podcasts left - but with so many classic albums in the past through today - why are we delving into the subjects mentioned in the title of THIS review ;)? Also there’s not much info on who the hosts are… I gather they’re music critics or something, but it’s quite muddy. Just seems with a few tweaks, this could be a subscription-worthy pod, but not now.

An overall good podcast — knowledgeable, funny. The episode on Tom Petty’s “Wildflowers” album had too much snark. Too many comparisons to other songs. I’d like to ask the hosts: How many songs have you written?

I’m new to this type of music but begorrah it’s amazing. Of course “Fairytale of New York”resonated the most with me, yet the others were just as interesting in their sound and lyrics. And great explanations too! The breakdown of each song was slightly involved and emotional but concise enough to keep me in. Love this podcast!

Intelligent and above all good natured discussion & analysis. Not a trace of the obnoxious, sarcastic or mean spirited barbs present in most other podcasts along these lines. These folks are never trying to show off. Did the guy on the Richard & Linda Thompson episode truly not understand the Calvary Cross reference? Please tell us he was kidding…??

Absolutely love listening to this podcast, my favorite in my library! I’ve discovered new albums/bands I wouldn’t have known about otherwise (Sugar, Sam Phillips, Helium to name a few) and the fact that they’re Moody Blues fanatics like me also doesn’t hurt. One (and only one thing) that grinds my gears is when Ben is on an episode. It bugs me that he’s obviously reading from things he’s prepared while the other participants make it seem more conversational. Not a big deal obviously but just annoying to this listener. Have a conversation or at least make it seem like that’s what you’re doing a bit more.

A great blend of music genres discussed (indie rock, metal, pop, rock, hip hop) keeps the podcast interesting. A revolving set of panelists bring a wealth of music history and music theory knowledge. I’ve learned something with each episode that I’ve listened to - even some of my most beloved albums that I thought I knew everything about! A must listen for any music fan! Very well done.

I enjoy this podcast mainly for the element that these are albums I have no interest in buying. I get to hear little snippets of the tracks and, usually, nod to myself knowingly that I dislike this group. But, these are albums that I have mostly heard of so I get to expand my musical knowledge without being tortured too much.

Entertaining, informative and well-produced podcast by a bunch of knowledgeable, dedicated and enthusiastic hosts. There are some wonderful episodes here! Con: an irrational, blind love for Moody Blues. But hey, nobody’s perfect :)

I am an old boomer and I love these young whippersnappers, particularly their enlightening, often brilliant looks at such old favorites of mine as Paul McCartney’s Ram, Freak Out by the Mothers, Revolver by the Beatles, and Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder. Highly recommended for rock

I can’t hit the road without Discord and Rhyme in my ears. Lately I have listened to the most recent Patreon offerings. “Covers that are better than the original”, “Jim Steinman Appreciation Day”, and “Beatles Covers” and especially “Greatest Hits” were so well done. I can’t tell you how many times I say “I didn’t know that” when listening to these podcasts. The Hollies were one of my favorite bands growing up so I was pleased to see them included. I loved seeing Graham Nash open one of his solo shows with Bus Stop. I believe the album you reviewed for the Hollies has a song that also appears on the CSN box set (Horses in a Rainstorm). Keep up the great work gang. I hope some readers of this will become Patreons to hear what they have been missing.

Got into the show with the Bee Thousand and can't wait to listen to more. Hosts are knowledgeable and entertaining. Also would you cover a Decemberists album? Preferably, Her Majesty or Castaways and Cutouts.

This episode shed new light on ‘Station To Station’ and sent me back to listen again with fresh ears. I really enjoyed the prism like four man rotation, revealing different aspects of the same subject and surprising even each other at times with their takes and impressions. Not your average podcast. Extremely well produced with both thoughtful and humorous comments on a wide range of albums. In an era of single streaming, it is engaging to hear real music fans discussing an album in it's entirety. Even if you don't always agree with them (heck, they don't always with each other), they still have some valuable insights. They do real research on the material, but still keep it loose. Well worth the time!

If you think you would enjoy listening to five or so nerdy types going on too long about their personal experience with an album, whilst offering up very few nuggets of incite or fresh info, topped off with sophomoric humor, then this is your cup of tea. I dare you to get through the “Fear of Music” episode. I could not. I kept wanting to say “HUSH” or “Just shut up, man”

I found these guys through looking for podcasts about the Moody Blues, and I have really enjoyed their other episodes as well. It feels like hanging out with a group of friends. Keep up the good work!

This podcast accomplishes the task of exploring a wide variety of music on a weekly basis. With the track by track rundown, it does a great job of exposing the listener to the music. The only downside is that these guys generally seem to enjoy things that make no sense(They Might Be Giants) while missing the mark with other acts that are generally likable(The Jesus and Mary Chain). That’s the beauty of music however. Everyone finds what they like in different ways. I am also not a fan of the constant attempts at being witty that are always met with awkward toothy laughs, while always seeming to fall short.

Let me put it this way; if your podcast consumption diet has even a little bit of room for white Xennial turbonerds geeking out about their favorite albums, then this podcast is for you. Great production, well-organized presentation, and fantastic chemistry among its hosts, even (heck, especially) when they disagree.

Amazingly great and dorky in all of the best ways. I cannot stress enough how wonderful this podcast is for a music nerd like me. An incredibly entertaining, insightful, and enthusiastic discussion of a variety of music. Always thoughtful and well-researched, with great editing and production values. Check it out. If be shocked if you weren’t hooked after your first episode.

These guys have been friends and obsessive music geeks for decades- and it shows. Their easy rapport and deep knowledge that spreads across genres is obvious. Hopefully they will single handedly keep album listening alive in a world of AI-generated, one-off curated streams.

Just the right amount of nerdiness and over-obsessive geekness. Minus 1 star for the guy that says “like” at least once a sentence and thw singing over the songs, though.

This podcast is SO well done! For someone who is not well-versed in music, this podcast is not only extremely educational, but absolute comedy gold! The chemistry between the team keeps you entertained and wanting more. I’m so impressed by the deep insight and dissection of a variety of albums and the incredible music knowledge! This podcast is, by far, my favorite music-related podcast. The hosts give extremely detailed and excellent reviews of songs and albums - and even make learning the backstory behind the albums incredibly enjoyable — even for those artists and albums I *don’t actually like*!

Two episodes in and I think I'm hooked. These guys know their stuff but they're not at pretentious about (except when being pretentious about it becomes funny).

If you want to listen to a bunch of music aficionados geeking out hard—and unpretentiously—over some fun albums, which you may or may not already be familiar with, this show will be your jam.
